  • I end up picking up a $250 Honda Big Red ATC 200 three wheeler. This three wheeler is in very rough condition and hasn't seen light for over 6 years. Will this machine run? #Honda, #BigRed, #Trike,

We have a 83 and 84 Big Red. Both are 200ccs. In 85 they went to full suspension and to 250ccs. I’m not trying to be negative or anything but I don’t think you have a Big Red. Bid Reds had electric start on them and a hi lo transmission selector. In 84 they went to shaft drive and also added reverse. You may have a 185 or a 200. There should be the actual cc number on the cylinder towards the bottom where it mates to the cases. That will tell you what it actually is. I love your videos and channel, I’m just trying to be helpful. I’m a bit of a Honda Atc nut, I have four at the moment and I’ve had six at once in the past before.

I've been working on slowly restoring a 200sx quad, poor thing has been abused to the moon and back, No starter, No airbox, No airfilter. No main fuse. 1 chain adjustment bolt missing. rings were non-existent both tires were flat, drive sprocket was welded back on. Looks like it sat outside for 10 years, Then it came to me, Got the rings replaced, honed out the cylinder. new carb throttle free'd up. And the thing fires up like a dream, I cannot express how it baffles my mind that people throw away things that are so easy to work on, and that'll last you a lifetime. It's like i told my neighbor. If you work on these honda's long enough, they'll work for you for years to come. Love these machines! Nice video man!

Those trail boss250 s are good rides, I had a couple, the rear axle bearings & front struts are always worn out, really hard to get fresh parts. If someone could make & sell a cheap front strut for these units, they would sell zillions of them, & get a lot of those 250s going again

When you squirt has inside carb and start it will rev high like that because all the fuel enters the cylinder at once it's not metered by carb. Move the decompression lever while rolling engine over till. You find spot where it engages. It is supposed to be connected by a cable to the pull start and moves automatically when you pull it. Buy you can use it manully.

Looks like an early 185 or 200 but definitely not a big red. Still a sweet machine though

Not a big red... looks like a 200M which wasnt considered a big red. Front rack is not Honda, looks like a Kawasaki KLT front rack someone scabbed on, Honda front racks didnt use the shock pinch bolts to hold it on like that. The DG exhaust is a great score, have DG exhaust on three of mine and the really last, the oem exhaust is always rotted off. Looks like someone spray bombed the motor and carb and wheels black too. Also the recoil has the hole where the decomp cable exited, these always break inside the recoil, the head has the cable decomp lever, i dont think this motor came in this frame, looks like a 200m frame with an earlier 185/200 motor. Check the base of jug for the CU number. You can swap the cable decomp lever with the later hand operated one, just grab one off ebay and its a five min swap tops, really helps pulling it over. Its definitely a compiled machine from random bits. Decode the VIN to see what the frame actually is using the online Honda ATC VIN decoder site.
