Hi seeing you were trained w/ Mercedes. I'd like to ask you where would I go about locating the voltage converter for a 2010, GL450, x164. Dashboard has "aux battery malfunction" sign for many months even after the battery was replaced with a new genuine one from MB. While searching online I was advised to check/replace the voltage converter/ regulator. But can't seem to find where it is.
Sorry... never had any Mercedes training - or any other automotive training. I know the ignition systems on the V12's but that's it. Well..... relative to what characteristics cross over from one model to another.
A good idea to indicate a fuse is blown would be to put a parallel LED with a huge resistor in line (200K Ohms or so) and drill this diode into the cover or main frame. Would save time.
Great video! very illustrative. I wonder if I can do this type of repair. The SMC replacement for the tantalum caps is a no brainer, and I can do the 16 pin transistor as well since I have the equipment handy. I will have to check where to mount the fuse line by doing some testing but all in all I have a decent idea to start from. Great content Clark, keep up the good work!

Well..... looking at the transformer connector ..... the bottom two pins in the middle are 12v input to the transformer. The upper right and left hand corners are the 180v outputs for corresponding side of the engine as you do the left/right pins. The bottom two pins on the right are the 23v outputs. If all the voltages are present it doesn't mean the transformer is good - they still fail under load or at operating temperature. If one or more of the output voltages is not there then you know 100% the transformer needs to be replaced with my Boost Box. - my design for plug and play ease for OEM transformer upgrade.

The v12 s600 was bought second hand with a coil pack problem and engine light on, so i replaced it with a new one and the car drove fine. After a day of releasing the car the client takes it on a 600 km drive and when he got there the car then had no power. What do you think the next step is because on my diagnostic report it says all injectors an the right are shut off???? Your assistance will be highly appreciated!!!!
It can only be the pack or VT when you loose a whole bank like that. Go to the coil pack harness and unplug it. With the key on - engine not running.
