@@swansmeisterbetter is subjective from what you want from a car. Naturally aspirated provides character and better sound than twin turbo. Also if power isn’t concern, then it’s driving experience and sound and responsiveness from N/A provides that
Preaching to the choir, I had all the N/A greats, recently converted to turbo engine, I am never going back, the only 2 N/A cars I would ever want (I can afford) is a s204 c63 or the e39 m5 and I had both already. The c63 sounds amazing, so does the e39 mm5 but that 5 banger from audi is just so freakin nice, definitely the one I have, the 8p with the iron block still in it, sounds just different. @@troublemak3r134

Hi i love this car, it's about 18k here in Spain, it's so crazy to mantain each year? Insurance, taxes, etc? I know it's not a 2.0 turbo so it's not that cheap, but i love this car, obviously not for daily drive.
@@Dexspic Maintenance is low. I have owned mine for 11 years. The engine is bulletproof. It is a Clk Ammg 55 coupe.The car needs to be treated to stop rust. Electrics and ignition problems are the only thing to watch. The heating system gets issues. Generally as long as the oil is changed the cars runs fine. I get 32km to 1 gallon round town and 45 km on a motorway run. Apart from tyres and brakes and the odd suspension part there is very little to worry about. My coupe has done 120000km and is worth £8000 I would guess. It is a lot of car for the money!

You are not going to break the sound barrier but its fast. It is reliable and comfortable. I put 150k + miles on two C55s. White on black 06 only like 30 were made worldwide and Mars red there are even less. Food for thought.

The gear ratios are longer than infinity, imagine with modern 8zf. Amazing car.
4th Gear in my E55 kompressor is good for about 175 mph, 5th would red line at 220 !

Really miss the v8 in my CLK55, if it didn’t get totalled I would still have it. Love the model 3 performance acceleration but miss that jet engine sounding engine
Back in the days, this thing was freakin fast! The 5 speed automatic was not the best but the only choice for it...
The 5 speed it the most solid thing in this C Class

This was the legend before this younger brother the c63 w204. I also had a w203 c230 kompressor since 2005 and it was solide af! (Till its chain broke😢😢😢)

Definitely a 1 grand preventative maintance item when reaching 100k mile mark
The 1.8L kompressor is the worst engine mercedes have made, m111 kompressor is the way 👌

The sound is absolutely glorious! But it doesn't look that fast tbh, considering that it's a small car with a huge engine.
Estate is a porker. Tips the scales as about 1.75 tons empty.

Yes, put the supercharger from the E55 and smaller pulley and then u gonna fly with it

These engines are Oversquared v8s, meaning they love to rev out due to their fairly short stroke compared to other v8s. The 7k rpm is really just a suggestion for longevity
Not to mention the Alusil Liner as well as forged internals. Alusil is known to stay virtually wear free after 500,000 Km
They don’t make more power over 7k. Power takes a nosedive over 6k ish. I thought it was under squared. I’ve been trying to get these things to rev out so the drop off into the next gear isn’t so bad but they just wanna shift so early. Any thoughts? cus i dont see any vids of ppl shifting at 7k rpm or more if its even possible. di ahy tuners increase the rpm limits for these cars?
@@trae3290 honestly you are right the power dips past 6400 but they keep going up. For your issue with rpm, keeping it in sport with traction control off usually lets it rev a bit higher and it depends on speed too if you’re at the top of 4th floored it’ll redline all day

@@mmaz3073 I hear you! But if power dips why rev over 6500? In sport that’s about where it shifts, in manual yu can get it past that but the dyno curves just show such a nose dive in power. Car is just more of a low end brute.

Oh and since this video the gearbox has had it's valvebody rebuilt and conductor plate replaced. Night and day difference in responsiveness.
If people want it I will consider the detour to make it happen! 😊

This is the 5.4 to have after Ford ruined their previously reliable 5.4 Triton in 2004
Had one of these for 100k miles, motor gave up the ghost at ~144k miles. Painfully slow transmission and only 5 speeds, but great for highway cruising.
It would be much cooler with 6 speed manual.
I really like the looks of W203.
