I went to NYC twice before 9/11. The first time in 1998 to celebrate my sweet 16th birthday and my Dad's 50th birthday. The second time in 2000 on a bus trip to NYC was to see the Lion King on Broadway musical.
I remember we used to take trips to NYC and they were always so great. I was on that observation Deck on top of WTC2 and it just took your breath away. We were there for new year's eve and our hotel room at the Sheridan Manhattan looked right out into Time's Square, we went outside and it was a gigantic party ( even the cops had champagne!). It was just such a cool time back in the mid nineties and even though I was a kid, I'll never forget the experience. I'll also never forget the Majesty of the twin towers! R.I.P. WTC
Thank you for sharing this personal and touching story. The Twin Towers were indeed majestic and magical too. Hence the video tour called "Manhattan Magic". There is *no* doubt that if they were to be rebuilt that magic and majesty would come back again immediately.
I had similar experiences in cities in North Carolina in the 90s. Some of our cities resemble NYC and I remember similar experiences. I'd go to music halls in the cities here for music performances with my parents when I was 6 7 8 years old and you'd walk out the to all the striped cement architecture, jazz, and everyone even security guards were a part of the party. You can't beat the 90s aka the second 80s.
It still hasn’t returned. The innocence of the country was taken. It will never come back. It’s like being sexually abused as a child you never seem to think of people the same way ever again. 9/12/2001 to 2004 was a great time in the country. People loved it like they had never before. And then after the initial hurt went away people returned to the 90s. Just smug and don’t give a shit about anybody. We would have to get attacked again to have that. What the lying piece of shit politicians can’t do. Bin laden did in 102min he brought every American together. Then 3 presidents and a bunch of senators and reps brought the country apart again because it’s in there best interest to divide everyone. If people are together it makes it difficult for them. The 90s is what caused it. Had Clinton did his job instead of screwing young girls. Bin laden would’ve been dead. The cia started in 93-95 saying he needs to be killed. Instead he did nothing even though we had been attacked multiple times by bin laden. The bush admin then brand new and they looked at what Clinton did and just assumed it would be fine to keep treating it as a law enforcement problem. Before 9/11 terrorism was a law enforcement issue when it should have been a military issue. They would find the guilty party, arrest them, take them to court, and put them in prison. When all the other countries treated it as a military issue. Nobody had any sense. Then Clinton has documents stolen to cover up the fact he did nothing about it. The 90s was the downfall that caused people to have to chose to burn alive or jump.

I look at the final year in a decade as the closing chapter of a book and the first new year of a decade as the beginning or prologue. However each year is connected, they're all books in a series. They tell stories from a previous time preceding the current year. 2001 was a great year, an excellent year up until 11th September. A complete juxtaposition pre 9/11 2001 and post 9/11/2001 felt worlds apart. Prior to that it was one of the best summers on record and the music wasn't bad that year either. 2001 was mostly about free games, software and music - god bless Napster/Kazaa/eDonkey/Limewire and indeed mIRC.
The problem is that the 2000s in America were built with fuel from other countries, same with the late 90s and those countries came after the twin towers. It was a period of luxury with a price tag and unfortunately the price tag was a rental. The towers were applied with precious metals over time and we never really owned them and the fuel used to maintain them. As with anything. It took 30 years to furnish the towers completely I'm sure.
I hate to admit this but 2000 still had 80s feel to it the 90s we were all trying to run away from the 80s gang violence was at a all time low and the crack era damage was still there. Y2k also had a 60s vibe with marijuana and acid being real popular with raves also mtv was at it's downfall with all those boy bands rap music was having a small hayadas with Jay z dmx and lil troy and a few southern rappers emerging and Eminem. Rock had Korn orgy pod limb Bizkit Deftones and more. Even though gang violence wasn't as bad as the late 80s early 90s the murder rate was still higher then all of the 2010s

I really like your comment :)
Have you yourself been to the WTC in its Prime !?
@@mrandrossguy9871 I did indeed visit the old WTC Twin Towers yes. Late 90s. :-)
@mR andross guy yes. August 1998.😢
So was this History Lesson Diorama 5:35 made Somewhere Else since This was IN THE TWIN TOWERS ?
It's the 1st WTC video that showed it, I wonder what floor it was on ?
Even though gang violence wasn't as bad as the late 80s early 90s the murder rate was still higher then all of the 2010s
the video in the small cinema of tower 2 is called manhattan magic
What a cheesefest
abderaman alzemouri very nostalgic
I was a 1 year 2 months old when this was made April 4th, 1999
17:15 that is pre-9/11 Airport security at the time.
The Police and taxi car was 1995 and 1999 Crown Vic in NYC.
I know everyone likes to say how innocent and easy going the world was back then, but let me tell you it only ever was for a ver small fraction of the population.
The bubble simply burst for us all; a rude awakening.
I wonder if they rebuilt this?
what was this shot with?
Uff that flight was..amazing
this is cool!!!
wow
They should’ve rebuilt the originals
Lot of people agree with you. In the end, $$$$ won out as they always do
Yeah, but who tf would want to work in them?? I couldn't bear it.
@@pb4ugo19 who tf is working in the nEw one !?
If that happend once again people will complain about them
For someone who's Never Even Been to NYC but from Chi-Town
The WTC the REAL WTC affects me Dearly and I'm constantly upset on how they Treated the Site Now !
Yet I wonder if the Tragedy never happened the WTC would undergo Massive Change and Upgrades to where it might have been unrecognizable anyway ? As That's what happens Naturally because the SEARS TOWER has undergone a drastic change to its Iconic base :/
So I'm saying if what upsets me is the Nature of Change itself or if how the WTC was really Dishonored !?
Oh hey I think I was there when this was being recorded as a kid!
Somehow i got a feeling that i lived in NYC and egypt in my past lives before this one, i just know it 😇💙💭
This Vid Actually has Nice History Lesson along with Pre-Attacks
That’s pretty cool that they mentioned Philippe Petit
16:07 the heli landed on the helipad on south tower
Recorded the very month of my birth. World was somewhat different when I came into this world.
3:35 Is that smog?
look that the old ford crown victoria taxi))))
they aren't around allot now :/
Drago1995 mainly as cop cars but even those are getting replaced
I miss them
How has it been 19 years we will never forget the towers or people
in 2000 it was more beautiful than it is today.
1:42 That little girl must be Gen Z. This is the year 2000 after all.
was born in november of 94’, so don’t remember an nyc with the twin towers (outside of like older movies and shows)... and as a current day manhattanite, who moved here during college in 2013 and just never left, it’s kinda weird to see something else in the place of one world trade and the memorial
my older cousin moved to the city when he was 17 tho, in 1998, so he definitely remembers nyc with the towers and was in the city getting ready for one of his gallery openings the day they fell. he always tells me that my version of the city and his are two totally different places and that it’s changed so much since he first moved here
Love it 😍 it’s exactly how I remember the twins
Sad
Thank you for sharing this, so sad, that bit at the beginning when you see the people dancing in the Windows of the World restaurant, some of them staff would have definitely been at work that morning and were murdered.
So sorry for Americans, Lennon said it, imagine no religion, seriously, imagine, no religion, especially that most stupid of them all!
Awesome. Never got to go but Never forget! RIP
beautiful
A man can be this much down.
It's unbelievable
It’s sad what happened to those buildings
20 years ago.
Year 2000 looked like 1995
they just existed for 9 months and 10 days in the 21st century :(
The year 2000 isn't part of 21st century
@@demirishimov8270 no shit. 9 months and 10 days is Sept 10th 2001.
