I'm literal crying right now. My son is having this issue since he was 2 years old and he's almost 5 now. I didn't know that dairy has a relation with this problem. He stains his underwear almost every day and can hold it for a week, at the end making a big poop with a lot of pain, crying and yelling. He's taking 1/2 cup of mirolax everyday, but it's not helping. We'll have a doctor's appointment again Monday. I really hope to find what is the real problem.
Mine is 4.5 and is withholding. I feel like a failure as a mum due to this. She was trained at 2, then she fell into toilet and refused. And she is drinking a lot of milk and was constipated for awhile so for my child it be rising from multiple reasons. I feel lost🫠
My 4 year old daughter is good withholding poop. She doesn’t poop for 4 days now. She drinks a lot of prunes juices, stool softener, fruits, veggies. She had hard poop once and traumatised her ever since. I don’t know what to do anymore.🤷🏻♀️
Hmm, too much stool softener and prune juice can make constipation worse, try increasing water mixed with juice(the can of frozen strawberry fruitopia worked for my son because it has fructose sugar which acts as a laxative), does she take proboitic gummies for kids? It's for tummy health I had my son on it for a week and I think it may be helping with his withholding and constipation because he had just went and it's way softer now. Ground flax seeds can help too if added to food like spaghetti or oatmeal, I started giving my son cup of fruits with the syrup and I think that might help aswell, Avoid giving bananas and dairy foods, I hope some of these suggestions help. My 2 year old has constipation too and started withholding because of the poop that was painful made him scared to go, went to doctors 4 times but they just gave me a stool softener that seemed to make his constipation worse. So I tried abunch of different things to try help my son and what I suggested seemed to work for my son.

My 3yr old just experienced her 1st constipation. She's screaming and crying. We went to her pedia and prescribed a miralax. After few days, we used to pedia lax and a big poop came out but she's in pain. Now she seemed traumatized with the pain she experienced from that moment. Me and my wife are getting exhausted. We'll be continuing use of miralax (maintain dose) hopefully not for long. All her dairy is milk, ice cream (once or twice month if permitted). Not a candy lover.. she loves spinach, carrots. Water is not a problem. We'll try to disengage for a while. But for how long?

Started him on tummy health gummies afew days ago too. So any one of those could have started helping the poop to be softer and couldn't withhold it. I feel relief that he won't be in pain anymore. Hopefully we can keep this up and start trying to potty train again.

She stands there and shakes trying to hold it in whether it’s soft or hard. She asks to go to sleep all of the time because that’s the only time she doesn’t feel the urge to poop it seems. She’s constantly trying not to poop. Her bubbly personality is changing because she’s so traumatized by pooping it plagues her every moment. How do I make it stopppp😭

ive got twin sons aged 2.5 years old .. one baby is fine with poop .. but the other one is always holding his poop and he gets constipated alot since past whole year this is going on .. doctors dont have any solution .. ps my child is healthy with good weight and a very playful baby

I wish there was an app that I can play and say oh see the doctor say not to hold your poop you’re going to hurt your belly. I got my little one to take his medicine because I told him his doctor said he had to so I wish I had an app with the voice of a doctor that would say time to go poop don’t hold it. Don’t want to scare the kid I just want him to have someone he respects to tell him he has to go. He’s not scared when I say the doctor said you had to take your medicine he just takes it. And then tells me to call the doctor to let them know he took the medicine.😂

He holds it and he will leave little skid stinky poops and me and my husband are getting so stressed out with this . He now says poopy all the time too and thats embarrassing for people to hear and look at us like our child is gross. We are taking him to a dr tomorrow because ive tried laxatives and water and fruits and everything to sofen to the point of hes going to end up with problems.
@@ivabektashi2675 still not potty trained but he has started to pee in the toilet and tells me when he needs to pee half the time now. He's 4 and still hids to poop. I catch him and tell him you don't need to hid come here and poop. Hopefully he will start coming to me to poop and we can start pooping in the toilet too

Try looking for juices that have fructose sugar(it's a sugar that acts like a laxative) Flax seeds are very high in fiber and can buy ground flax seeds so you can add to meals directly. Drinking more water is good aswell, watering down juice can help too if they refuse to drink Plain water, fruit cups with the syrup may help aswell, I did these for my 2 year old son because he had constipation and it seems to be helping. It's been a week and a half and my son had just went on his own, he couldn't withhold it because it was too soft.

@@maryvera2730 yes! He started right after his 5th birthday which was in January of this year. It took two really painful, LARGE poops for him to realize that it stopped hurting once it was out and I basically just let him cry sitting on the toilet and the crying pushed it out and I held him and just kept praising him. We were giving him Potty Wise drops from Amazon and they were amazing!

What about a 20 month old toddler who has struggled with with constipation recently and has began withholding poop in their diaper?

Give him candy to sit on the potty with, say a sucker, I did this with my son and it worked.

There is no real answer for the toddler withholding for psychological reasons. This feels HOPELESS.

My 22 month old screams and stiffen her legs jus to try not to pass her stool it bring tears to my eyes. I try everything eating prunes ,veges etc

Easily the worst part of raising a baby this task to be accomplished. Everything else was heaven but this made me hate my kids sometimes.
