What I hate about Power BI is how much effort you got to go through to create something that looks so simple in this modern world. You spend hours changing loads of settings to do things like this and when someone looks at it, they will assume this is just a standard feature and not be impressed. Only Power BI users know the struggle and the amount of effort it takes to make something look decent.
Sometimes I wonder if they have a lot of these features and updates already completed and are just slowly releasing it. Tableau does some things in a funky way too. It has its own quirkiness. They definitely operate differently, both have their strengths and weaknesses. I use both.
I reckon. Don’t understand why Microsoft won’t make it for us as developers, so we don’t have to go through a heavy customisation process like this. 😅 However, thanks to this channel, I found a lot of useful tips and tricks to help me make my dashboard looks awesome

Hi, Bas. The approach when Category slicer narrows down SubCategory slicer’s values has a negative side effect. When you change Category_1 to Category_2 the previously applied SubCategoy_1 filters still stay applied. That’s why your chart looks like there is no data when Category is changed.
Hi, I have a very difficult question and I searched through the Google and chatgpt and everywhere but couldn't find a solution for that. I have an idea to combine two different maps one is going to be in shape file and the other one is going to be point map. So my idea is to make the background of the point map transparent and only leave the points by latitude and longitude so that I can make a group of points by latitude and longitud with the shaple file map and putting the points by latitude and longitud over the shape file. Finally, make them on group which will appear like that I have both shaple file plus points by latitude and longitud together. But until now I couldn't find a solution how to remove or make the point map background transparent or without having any colour except the points by latitude and longitud. Please help me in this regard. Thanks in advance.

Hi, is there anything that can be done so that the button slicers are not responsive? Currently the visual advanced options -> responsive is greyed out and threads in the power bi community say it's an issue that should have been solved already back in 2022. My issue is that I want to use date period slicers, i.e., slicer for year, quarter and month. If I make the quarter selection filter the months slicer, it makes the month buttons huge. I would prefer them to stay the original size to keep that consistent look with same size buttons in all slicers. Do you know if there's a way to make it happen?
Another great video BAS, congrats. With this slicer buttons, i can't show the last selection(filter) user made when he opened the report. The user has to select every single time. why?

If I was the ceo of Microsoft the first thing I would do is spend a billion dollars and buy Framer. I would take the tech and hire a bunch of UI designers and transform excel, Bi and PP into a modern package. Then I would roll out a full Microsoft store for low priced components to add to your designs. You could sell everything from macros to buttons and make your entire portfolio drag and drop.
Hey, thanks! I got a question for you. I noticed that if I use a slicer and my text goes over 3 or more lines, the padding keeps increasing and increasing and I need to do a very big button to fit in. Do you have any trick for this?

Bas, of course, fantastic video! Found a bug with the slicer though, just when I was ready to push it to prod. Say you have one (using your first example) in multiple pages, and they are synced. Also say that only one value (out of, for example, five) is selected by default... Unfortunately, it will automatically jump to selected them all after moving between the tabs a few times. Also, in the online version, the 'reset filters' icon stops working. Like, you keep clicking it, and it does not reset. Had to back out...
@@Guillaume128 just realized I stopped thinking about this feature after this bug prevented me to use it in the first place. This has to be a warning for us - make great reports and, above all, address ALL early bugs asap, or else people will not start to use them and forget about them.

right click on the image, copy link and open it in the browser. Then take the url that shows in the browser (you will see it change) and remove everything after the last ? .. then add download=1 .. copy the updated url and use it in power bi

I need to create a dashboard with this flow: 1. the user opens the dashboard and finds a menu where he sets several parameters such as a date picker parameters, a dropdown menu etc. 2. click the "GO" button and the query starts which extracts the data with the query set by the user's setting 3. Once the upload is complete, the user can move to the page where he can analyze the data just downloaded. Is it possible to do this with Power BI? How? Thanks

I have a page where users can search for a particular ID and it shows the details for that record. Is it possible to add an arrow so users can navigate to the next ID or prior ID instead of having them search for the next record?
As soon as I learned about this update I immediately thoughts that Bas must be exited now 😂 Btw you can sample color of any element outside of power point directly from power point. For that you need to pick eyedropper, press it on any element in power point and keeping it pressed drag coursor outside of ppt window and release once it's on the element, the color of which you need (hope that explanation is clear))

Yeah so frustrating… Many users reported thoses slicers sync issues in the dev blog comments, let’s hope they fix it as soon as possible…

create a numeric parameter table based on IDs. Then a filter measure that applies a filter to the visual(s) based on the selected id in a slicer

Master, as you did to place the images in the botal, you could use the expression DAX allselect instead of MAX ?
no, max returns here the selected item. allselected serves a different purpose, it would return all values in a column.
