Last year I grew potatoes were my tomatoes were the previous year. I had tomatoes growing in with my potatoes. The potatoes bugs were eating my tomatoes plants. Every morning I was going out and squashing potatoes bugs. I finally used vinegar and dish soap on my plants. That helped.
Thank you for the video :) I just moved to my dream home with dream garden.. it's an overgrown mess at the moment but starting to get it cleared now. Can't wait to use the informatin you pass on to good use.
SpicyM you're a treasure. I guess I missjudged you when I've first seen your videos over 1y ago (most of them being shorts). I skipped most of them, but some got my attention and I started listening to you. You're wonderful. Thank you for sharing your care for environment, plants and health! "Because" of you I got into gardening and "because" of your tips I got it really well from the start. I hope you're doing wonderful, just as you are! Keep doing what you're doing and keep being yourself! Much love!
Thank you so much for your channel. I have been learning so much to help me with growing foods that I want. You make it so easy to understand and also the zero waste ideas are amazing! 👍🥰
Great video. Thank you!!! Growing my first potatoes in years. An old plastic basket, cardboard box and black bag. I need to soil up. I’m so excited at the progress they made in 3 weeks !!!
Beautiful garden. I have learned neem seed meal left in water for a couple days then mixed with soap keeps bugs away. I have subbed to your channel. I love gardening. Stay elevated brother.
@@SpicyMoustache I will try the nettles and garlic method brother thanks for the tip. That's the beauty about gardening. Always something to learn. Gardening is very therapeutic
I planted store bought potatoes that had started to chit this past year in cardboard boxes along a weedy fence line. I didn't have to weed eat and they did great! I got great new potatoes and they were soooo good! :) Will definitely do again!
Great potato growing video and not very long. I love your format and the way you present. Definitely upping my game on things I grow and making it easier to try new things as well.
G’day from Sydney . I ❤growing potatoes and get so excited when I harvest them , trying to grow more of the purple flesh potato , can’t remember the name .. ( I have senior moment 🤭)
The cabbages in the back are stunning! How do you get them to grow so well? Would you say to grow them in containers/ raised beds, for someone who has heavy/clay soil? Thank you
Gardening and growing fruits and vegetables is something I decided to try my hand at this year so I planted a small raised garden. I learned some things the hard way and that’s ok. But it’s only made me wanna do more. Unfortunately it’s mid July. Am I too late to start growing potatoes and stuff? If so what are things I can grow or what are things I should be doing to prep for next season? I live in northern utah so we get all 4 seasons and we’re about 97-100 degrees right now
For potato bugs, try "bug juice". Pick all the bugs you see off the plant, put them into a blender with water and emulsify the bugs. Strain and put into a spray bottle. Spray the potato plants. Problem solved. Bug juice has worked for me with all kinds of bugs. It is bug specific. Emulsified tomato bugs and get rid of your tomato bugs. Squash bugs will have no effect on cucumber bugs or aphids. Only squash bugs. It seems to last all season without extra application. But anytime I see a bug, I put it in water to emulsify it, and spray it on whatever plant it came off of. It works.
I am new to the " grow your own potatoes" process. I am trying to figure out if you can use store bought potatoes. Would someone be kind enough to help me understand where to get the actual potatoes to grow...
Yes you defo can but I wouldn’t use anything sprayed with pesticides. If you check the label they will alway state what pesticide they use as by law they have to but most people ignore it. Buy organic potatoes and do the same process 😊
Sorry I commented on the wrong video. I saw the boba short video and this video was pinned at the top. I must have clicked the link before commenting. There are some crops that are good to be planted now but you’ll harvest in autumn :)
How does the new potatoes need to look or which color do they need to have so that I can eat them without anything wrong happening ?
Potatoes are ready when you can't rub the skin off.

Why can’t you just plant potatoes you buy from the supermarket? Is there a reason people say not to do this?
They are usually treated to stop sprouting.
