Ok, This song is about the book "The Plague", Which I haven't read but I have heard of, From what I know it's about a city and one day suddenly a ton of rats come out and die of the bubonic plague. Most of the story is about the effects of the Bubonic plague on the city it showed itself in.
I know It's WAY too late to add an addendum to a 4 year old post, but the book's about human conflict and the nature of fighting against suffering. It's about the ways people fight against tragedy or suffering, and how the only way humanity can truly win against disasters is by confronting them.

I'm very curious. What's your interpretation of this song? I keep trying to comprehend the lyrics, both your version and the literal translation of the original Japanese lyrics, but my mind fails me, so I really wanna know what the song is about.
I see it as something similar to the black death also known as the bubonic plague but with the cyclopse girl it's harder to determine what the songs about
i thought it was a social commentary something about people blindly listening to the words of the ones in power without ever stopping to think about it critically
I thought the song was ironic in that the spread of democracy is like a plague infection. So I discussed some of the passages that caught my attention. 1:41 The literal translation in Japanese is "I called in an epidemic, I took advantage of depression and dirtied my hands." The former took advantage of citizens who were tired of authoritarian regimes, etc., and spread an epidemic (democracy) among them, The person who created the epidemic abused the system and profited from it. 1:48 The literal translation in Japanese is "Thus we were enriched, we swallowed the lie with junk food." After some years, the assets of some who profited from democracy were enriched, The abuse was covered up with easy, cheap junk food (democracy). (Maybe this is where I mention the McDonaldization of George Ritzer.) 1:55 The literal translation in Japanese is, "The voices of fear that God is dead have ceased to cry out." "God is dead" is Nietzsche's critique of the existing moral spirit of the late 19th century, No one is left to raise issues as Nietzsche did, and no one is left to worry about democracy. In other words, the rats (democrats) who no longer think about the shortcomings of the democratic system and have given up questioning it, died.

Ok, i gotta say, most of the time when i listen to a cover of a song, i usually refer to the first time i heard it for the first time, and for this one, it was a male cover. Things is i usually prefer voices that are close to what i heard originally, but your cover is something else. Despite being a female cover, your tone actually sound perfect, you truly nailed the boredom that the lyrics transcribe and i honestly think it's fantastic 'cuz you didn't tried to go over the top by adding high pitch notes that you expect from a female cover, and it's really pleasent to the hears, almost soothing. So yeah, a grand bravo !
I love how everyone is either like "such a great song! you did great!" or "Here come the danganronpa fans" Although Danganronpa does go with the song very well, you did do great. 1:04 Kaede's execution--
@@Mayuapril No, it is about a book. Directly quoted from Wikipedia "The Plague (French: La Peste) is a novel by Albert Camus. Published in 1947, it tells the story from the point of view of a narrator of a plague sweeping the French Algerian city of Oran."
Yesss I fell in love with this song so hard after discovering it in a Kaito cover, so I’m excited to finally be able to sing along with it!! I’m always so impressed at the ability to write lyrics that not only fit perfectly with the melody, but also capture the original meaning AND sound beautifully poetic! I try writing my own lyrics sometimes but man, even just getting them to fit is the music is so hard, much less making them so beautifully poetic too. You’re incredibly skilled, thank you so much for these beautiful covers!!
When I first saw this video pop up in my notifications, I was a little worried since the lyrics of this song are really complex and it seemed it would have been very hard to translate them in a way that would be both singable and appropriate. But it seems my fears were unfounded, because you absolutely nailed the lyrics! I'm honestly super impressed you were able to fit every syllable and key phrase so perfectly into this cover, not to mention how smoothly you're able to sing them! I honestly think this is one of your best covers, both for the incredible lyrics and your stunning voice being able to sing it all crystal clear. Good job, and a super huge kudos to you, Oktavia!
I love this so much?? Especially the fast parts, you did an amazing job at those! Also wow I was not aware that people read that book outside of the french school system, but it's interesting to see how a book like that can inspire songs... :>

I have two theories about what this is about. 1. About a corrupt government 2. The Plague My second theory is more likely, but the first one is also possible.
This is actually based off a book called “The Plauge” by Albert Camus, where the French city of Oran had been struck by the plauge due to multiple problematic causes

The rats at last
Had died
Here we reside
The right timeline
The context and content
Best of their kind
Shunning the illness
For the outbreak
It caused, I stained my hands
Stealing the Doleful Folks' trust
That lying prophet
Was the way we grew
Chewing up Junk Food
Just to cover the truth
And yes, the voice assured
God was Dead
They left one day
Have paid no visit since then
The drunkards sick of
Swigging self Love
They fail at falling
Forward in pinch mania
An upper hook
That books you breath tight
An ever-leaking
Pipeline
Best schemes conspired
Gone ghetto
The road
Winds in dirt
Right, Left, think you can
Handle both handles?
Either leave or please
Try to mind each
Super driver
Say ain't it a thesis?
A common thought
With closed eyes
Skipping some sixty
Min stalemate
Up ahead I sensed
The rats, at last
Had died
Ambiguous speakers
No stand back to feature?
Then who will sweep the
Leftover ash as Leader, flared and
Flared and later?
Hey, you sure the feelings we burned
Show a show classic
This shouldered cast should act by
Sponsoring some pondering
Stalemate, up ahead I sensed
The rats, at last
Had died
Free speech finally comes
To life as the Cats and Frogs
High leave the benches for
An "All now rise!"
Unaware of every
Nook and cranny
Squarely set they're
Han-did candid
Rats, hoping to maintain
Some semblance of Pride
They name plain ways
Lined up while the
Votes are flowing in, and
Lie like it's no sin
Burglar cat
Lappin' facts
Up like a
Cat burglar
Do you also
Know me better
Than I know
My face?
Hey
Hey
Hey
Hey
La la la~
La la la~
La la la~
One split dream and we'll
Make you bleed if your'e
Caught, they said
So I went ahead
And blamed it
On you instead
HAHA!
Ambiguous speakers
No stand back to feature?
Then who will sweep the
Leftover ash as Leader, flared and
Flared and later?
Hey, you sure the feelings we burned
Show a show classic
This shouldered cast should act by
When I tried overturning
The first title
The rats at last
Had died
Freedom with
No sure aim
Or slummed in sludge
But no pure waste?
Hobbies halt, still, when you
Give them a Name
So does their merit
Live out of focus
In the first place?
Cause that key
Place is the
Key we keep
With one sheet
Stammering farther inside
So lashing out
With all those doubts
Cast aside, we Democrats
At last, had died
At the time
We saw a
Bright cold
Sky...
La la la~
La la la~
La la la~

I hope by the 3rd anniversary you have more than 20x these subs, you really deserve it
Well, good night peeps
Do you have some sort of fanbase-discord or something by the way?
Judging from your descriptions and music taste you seem like a nice person so maybe a lot of the people that are addicted to your covers (a lot of people tbh) would actually enjoy building some sort of community
Never even seen the DRA animatic to this song, and yet, I can see why *this* was chosen for such a series..
( I have autism and it’s my special interest lmao )
Update: just saw it, I see why this song makes me emotional
I will be stealing

*THE MOOOON*
I just realized how well this song fits in with the context of covid
yup and how are leaders want us dead.
And black plague
2:54 theres no way you actually sang at that speed while actually properly saying those words-- but if you did. Then. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
My personal headcanon is she sung at a normal pace and sped it up in an edit
I love how everyone is either like "such a great song! you did great!" or "Here come the danganronpa fans" Although Danganronpa does go with the song very well, you did do great.
1:04 Kaede's execution--
Don't get me wrong Danganronpa goes with the song well but I don't think that's what it's about-
@@fireinthehole_727 yeah me too I think it’s about the time where they hang people they thought were witches or smth idk
@@Mayuapril No, it is about a book. Directly quoted from Wikipedia
"The Plague (French: La Peste) is a novel by Albert Camus. Published in 1947, it tells the story from the point of view of a narrator of a plague sweeping the French Algerian city of Oran."
@@bestaround3323 oh yeah that makes a bit more sense
I have no clue why but the "La la la"'s at the end of the song make me emotional
Aaaah thank you for covering this! I feel like I’ve been waiting forever just for this.
You’re incredibly skilled, thank you so much for these beautiful covers!!
yaaasss thank you so muuuuuch for covering this in english aaaa!!!!
The first time I heard this song it felt nostalgic for some reason idk why tho
It sounds a lot like their other song "red purge"
I’m in love with your voice ^^. Such intoxicating mixing as well.
OKAY BUT THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING?? I LOVE THIS, THANK YOU FOR DOING A COVER OF THIS GREAT SONG!!
I saw this song back in 2019. I'm happy my reccomended has blessed me with this song again.
Good job, and a super huge kudos to you, Oktavia!
ill be honest here the song made me want to read the book its based on so i bought it and

You're Amazing , You did a really Good Job 💖💖💖
rats, we're rats, we're the rats~
I have two theories about what this is about.
1. About a corrupt government
2. The Plague
My second theory is more likely, but the first one is also possible.
This is actually based off a book called “The Plauge” by Albert Camus, where the French city of Oran had been struck by the plauge due to multiple problematic causes
