For those who don't know, in the actual canon of The Evillious Chronicles, this whole song is a deception, and Kayo is actually fully aware of what she is doing and is feigning insanity. In reality, the killings are actually an act of revenge against Kai Miroku (KAITO's character), as he had caused the Great Fire of Enbizaka, which had killed her family, as well as an act of envy over him still having his own family despite starting the fire, which is made more extreme due to her being possessed by the Demon of Envy. The reason she feigns insanity is actually because of a prophetic dream she had where these events all played out, but she revealed the truth about Kai instead of keeping it a secret, leading to a war that destroyed the island of Onigashima, where Enbizaka is located. After killing them all, she deviates from her dream, never revealing Kai's guilt, and is executed, leading to the song The Weathered Head at Onigashima. CORRECTION: As pointed out by Abdulrahman Helweh below, I was incorrect about her being possessed by the demon of envy. Rather, Kayo is her daughter and the demon's characteristics were passed down to her.

I agree with you. Gumi is a pretty flexible one because just look at all of her voice bank. It's just many users prefers their female vocaloids to sounds high pitched. Fortunately, Gumi's fan understands that she is better mature. But it's not the level of deep I am searching. Gumi is pretty good tho.

My favorite part of your adaptation is how the narration switches between a neutral omniscient narrator and a first person narrator, like Kayo’s switching between weaving her own tale and selling her character. The switches are so smooth too: “Guess that there’s been a second crime, wonder where it was. I saw him at the hairpin shop with the reason why.” SO GOOD!!!
I dunno why but the moment you reach the part where Luka mentions a girl with her husband your voice grows powerful going from girl to girl, as if portraying Luka’s increasing envy... That’s how good this cover is. It’s THAT impactful on my end

In this song and video, Kaito (the blue one) is the supposedly husband but it wasn't true at all, Luka (the tailor of enbizaka, pink haired girl) was possessed by someone (yeah at this point im not gonna mention the given names in the story as it might confuse you) who seeked revenge on Kaito's family for burning down her family's home in the past, she had a child and a husband, her child was dead and she thought her husband also died but he really wasn't. Luka was really driven with jealousy that Kaito had his own happy family, while hers was "dead", that he killed his family one by one, including him. As punishment, Luka was beheaded at the next song of "The Weathered Head At Onigashima" where we found out that Gakupo was her true husband after all, but he didn't know about why she did those sinful acts nor does he know her personally because his wife was in a completely different body. I'm sorry, I may be missing at some parts or get little bits of facts wrong as I'm still trying to get the whole picture of the Evillous Chronicles. But that's basically the summary.
I have no life, okay basically let me explain the full story, including who these two are: A woman named Kayo worked as a popular tailor. She made clothes and stuff. However, one day a huge fire starts in her town, and kills her husband and child. She is devastated, so she buries herself in her work. One day a sorceress named Ma came to her town. Ma wanted a better body, so she offered to switch bodies with Kayo. Kayo agreed, and she went from being brown-haired to being pink-haired. However, what Kayo didn’t know is that this new body was magic, and allowed her to see into the future in dreams. So one night, Kayo has a dream that she is married to a man in her village named Kai, but Kai keeps having affairs. In the dream, she killed all of Kai’s other girlfriends. Then, the dream revealed to her that Kai was actually the one that started the fire which killed her family. When Kayo woke up, she wanted revenge on Kai. However, she was still a relatively good person and didn’t want to expose him and his friends for starting the fire, because she knew that would lead to the destruction of Enbizaka. (In Kayo’s dream, it was prophesied that if Kai was brought to justice, Enbizaka would eventually be destroyed). So she decided to pretend that she thought she was Kai’s wife. Yes, in the song, she knows full well what she’s doing, she’s not actually crazy. So, Kayo kills Kai’s wife, two daughters, and eventually Kai. Well, it turns out that one of Kai’s daughters, the one played by Rin, is actually a REINCARNATION of the Daughter Of Evil. So, a boy who is actually the reincarnation of the Servant Of Evil gets mad because Kayo killed his sister. So, the reincarnated Servant Of Evil ends up killing Kayo, and Kayo’s head goes on display for the entire town. And..PLOT TWIST...we find out that Kayo’s real husband is actually still alive! Kayo’s real husband, who is played by Gakupo, lost his memories in the fire. He has been working as a monk and was visiting Enbizaka one day. When he sees Kayo’s head, he regains his memories and begins to wish he had remembered sooner, in order to prevent her death. Edit: the comment below explains who the vocaloids are lol.

In the dream, before her murder of Kai, he confessed to Kayo that he was a member of the Crimson Robed Masses and, rather than being her husband, he was the one responsible for the fire in which her family had originally died. In her dream, Kayo testified this at her trial and the magistrate Gato Octo declared war on the terrorist group, leading to the destruction of Onigashima and Enbizaka in particular. When Kayo awoke, she was filled with a need for vengeance towards Kai, coupled with her feelings of envy that his family was still alive while hers had perished.[5] Eventually, on the night of a full moon,Kayo met Kai's wife Mei Miroku late at night and brutally murdered her with her scissors before stripping her of her red kimono and disposing of the body. The body was discovered the following day and the murder investigated by the constables Uibee and Eikichi Akagi.Under another full moon, Kayo similarly killed Kai's daughter Miku by the town bridge and stole her green obi, with Uibee and Eikichi again examining the crime scene. By this time, Miku's lover Kiji Yarera began using the resources from his family's firm to investigate the case on his own. Knowing from her dream that Kai would eventually scale Mount Izasa, and being suspected by Kiji's men, Kayo left Enbizaka in the clothes she stole from his family, having repaired and retailored them to fit her. Meeting Kai in an abandoned temple under the full moon, Kayo revealed herself as his family's killer; after explaining her reasons for doing it, she brutally murdered Kai and tore his body apart with her scissors. With her revenge complete, she left the mountain covered in Kai's blood.
This cover kinda blows me away, your voice is so powerful and your use of vibrato (is that the right term ;w;) lends itself really well to this song in particular. On top of that, your lyrics are so clever and poetic (while still, imo, maintaining the underlying meaning of the lines.) Easily the best English dub of Tailor I've ever heard.
Remember this people: -The body that Kayo is in was Ma’s (Mem Aleph) original body. She swapped bodies because Ma said that it will help her get over the loss of her family. (Her family was basically her cousin and their son, Ren.) - As for Kayo’s original body (black hair and different attire...can’t explain it ngl) is now used by Ma and used Kayo’s name after her death - Ma’s original body was Lukana Octo’s body (Lukana was one of the women that Venomania had in his harem, refer to Madness/Lunacy of Venomania). Irina Clockworker, Levia Barisol, and Eve Moonlit’s souls woke up in Lukana’s body -When Kayo was executed...technically that mean Lukana was executed - Kayo is the daughter of the Demon Envy, Rahab Barisol. Kinda obvious why she has born with envy magic... Sum facts I remembered...

I came back to listen to this cover after quite a while, I don't remember whether I've already left a comment but here I am, ugly crying in public, because this version always makes me feel the same emotions that I felt when I listened to the Japanese ver. for the first time: compassion, pity, shock and grief. Enbizaka is such a beautiful song and I believe that this arrangement truly embodies its spirit, the words and the rhythm are perfect, your voice sounds like Luka's, and I love how it vibrates with sadness, envy and rage in different parts of the melody. Like: - "sharper than sharpened scissors" = she's very "sharp", very smart and she's a tailor and uses scissors frequently in her line of work. - "seeming beyond the seams" = she's more than she seems and again, seams because she's a tailor. - "she's called the envy of all the community" = everyone envies her and she is the embodiment of the deadly sin Envy. - "that sole thing holding her back" = the one thing, but sole also like the soles of shoes. - "even with somebody like me fastened by an oath" = bound by their wedding vows, but also fastened like how one fastens a button on a garment. - "he'd rather lie with and lie that he's coming home" = he'd rather lie with (have sex) with other women and lie that he's coming home. - "Mother's blades I've trained to raise as right as she raised me" = she's honed her blades to raise (as in elevate/lift) as well as her mother raised (as in taught) her. - "sharpen them well and they'll sweep cleaner to your needs" = if you sharpen your scissors well they'll sweep (as in move quickly across; in sewing a sweep is also the circumference of the bottom hem of a skirt, dress, or jacket) very cleanly, quickly. But people also sweep with a broom to clean dirt. - "scissors clutched tightly while I cut deep into the deed" = deed could refer to her work, her current task, but it could also refer to the "deed" of killing, the act of killing.
Another one I noticed, though I might just be reading too heavily into it, is during the verse about Rin. “Guess that there’s been a second crime, wonder where it was? I saw him at the hairpin shop with the reason why” = “with the reason why”, the reason he’s at the hairpin shop and also the reason for the murders, Kaito’s “infidelity”

She never actually go to the hellish yard (well at least not to the depths of it) Gumillia (master of the hellish yard) got reminded of elluka when she saw kayo. So she kept her as her stylist (that's why gumillia got a new outfit since kayo made it for her)
This cover reminds of the first time i heard this song. I was shocked that we were rooting for the villain of the story for the whole song without realising. At the time we also knew nothing about the story and the song's background since the novels were released much later. It was really a story of delusion, insanity and envy. The "Am I beautiful?" line still sends chills down my spine. Perfect adaption.
That bridging climax when the tailor finally dons the stolen clothes gives me chills every time. The transition from fuzzy to clear vocals, the extra lyrics about the metaphor on scissors, the high notes. So very very good.

You know, I don't know how long it had occurred to me that this song in surface level was about a lady killing her "husband's" lovers only to reveal it was a separate family. I just thought that while her husband left she fell in love with a different guy and got enraged by his girlfriends.
I listen to this while slicing up origami templates to assemble! it's quite peaceful, despite the meaning of the song. I find it kind of relatable with the scissors thing. My xacto knife is getting blunt. I should get new knife heads.

I love these lyrics. You actually bothered to work the whole thing together, instead of shoving a bunch of pretty, but unconnected lyrics together. It felt like there was something to follow. And you have a wonderful voice, to boot. :)
She actually has Lukana Octo's body (The Luka that was in madness of Duke Venomania), as a character named Ma was born from 3 souls fusing into Lukana Octo's body and she performed a body switch with Kayo Sudou. She then hypnotised the town to believe that Kayo had always looked that way and left with a newer, fresher body. Because Ma had taken Kayo Sudou's body she took Kayo's name as an alias. Later on, she had a child with a man and named him Gallerian Marlon. Ma was soon put on trial for crimes that I forget (sorry) and was sentenced to death (however, she was practically an immortal being, as well as a magic user, so she obviously escaped). I should mention that Ma wad trying to collect every vessel of sin (an object that every character in the sin series possessed that had their respective demon in it) and absorb each demon onto her body to make herself pure. She was also trying to get rid of the three souls that were in her body, so she had to find vessels (human) to put them in. A while after her "death sentence" she returned to where her son Gallerian lived. She was searching for a vessel of sin. While there she met Michelle, his daughter. She was going off to college soon and decided to go on a trip with her mother to celebrate. On the day before they were scheduled to return a giant octopus attacked the ship and they both drowned. After this, Ma have Gallerian a clockwork doll, saying that Michelle's soul was inside the doll, and told him that he could only speak to Michelle while holding the Marlon Spoon (vessel of greed). She also manipulated him into collecting all vessels of sin for her, saying that that could bring his beloved daughter back. Gallerian insisted that the government fund his project but they refused, and he began to take bribes in underhanded court dealings. On his twentieth birthday Ma took him out to a bar, and Gallerian got very drunk. As they left he tried to seduce Ma, and while Ma initially refused, she realized she could use the child as a vessel for one of those pesky souls inside of her, and so she consented. She gave birth to a child named Nemesis Sudou (one of Ma's aliases was Kayo Sudou). She placed one of the souls into her and abandoned her in the forest. I believe nemesis was saved by the giant octopus that ended up killing Michelle (either way she made friends with that octopus at a young age) and had delusions of her mother raising her to cope with being abandoned. In the end she killed her father and ultimately was the final blow to Ma as well.

For those who don't know, in the actual canon of The Evillious Chronicles, this whole song is a deception, and Kayo is actually fully aware of what she is doing and is feigning insanity. In reality, the killings are actually an act of revenge against Kai Miroku (KAITO's character), as he had caused the Great Fire of Enbizaka, which had killed her family, as well as an act of envy over him still having his own family despite starting the fire, which is made more extreme due to her being possessed by the Demon of Envy. The reason she feigns insanity is actually because of a prophetic dream she had where these events all played out, but she revealed the truth about Kai instead of keeping it a secret, leading to a war that destroyed the island of Onigashima, where Enbizaka is located. After killing them all, she deviates from her dream, never revealing Kai's guilt, and is executed, leading to the song The Weathered Head at Onigashima.
CORRECTION: As pointed out by Abdulrahman Helweh below, I was incorrect about her being possessed by the demon of envy. Rather, Kayo is her daughter and the demon's characteristics were passed down to her.

I agree with you. Gumi is a pretty flexible one because just look at all of her voice bank. It's just many users prefers their female vocaloids to sounds high pitched. My favorite part of your adaptation is how the narration switches between a neutral omniscient narrator and a first person narrator, like Kayo’s switching between weaving her own tale and selling her character. The switches are so smooth too: “Guess that there’s been a second crime, wonder where it was. I saw him at the hairpin shop with the reason why.” SO GOOD!!!
I dunno why but the moment you reach the part where Luka mentions a girl with her husband your voice grows powerful going from girl to girl, as if portraying Luka’s increasing envy...

In this song and video, Kaito (the blue one) is the supposedly husband but it wasn't true at all, Luka (the tailor of enbizaka, pink haired girl) was possessed by someone (yeah at this point im not gonna mention the given names in the story as it might confuse you) who seeked revenge on Kaito's family for burning down her family's home in the past, she had a child and a husband, her child was dead and she thought her husband also died but he really wasn't. Luka was really driven with jealousy that Kaito had his own happy family, while hers was "dead", that he killed his family one by one, including him. As punishment, Luka was beheaded at the next song of "The Weathered Head At Onigashima" where we found out that Gakupo was her true husband after all, but he didn't know about why she did those sinful acts nor does he know her personally because his wife was in a completely different body.
I'm sorry, I may be missing at some parts or get little bits of facts wrong as I'm still trying to get the whole picture of the Evillous Chronicles. But that's basically the summary.
I have no life, okay basically let me explain the full story, including who these two are:
A woman named Kayo worked as a popular tailor. She made clothes and stuff. However, one day a huge fire starts in her town, and kills her husband and child. She is devastated, so she buries herself in her work.
One day a sorceress named Ma came to her town. Ma wanted a better body, so she offered to switch bodies with Kayo. Kayo agreed, and she went from being brown-haired to being pink-haired. However, what Kayo didn’t know is that this new body was magic, and allowed her to see into the future in dreams.
So one night, Kayo has a dream that she is married to a man in her village named Kai, but Kai keeps having affairs. In the dream, she killed all of Kai’s other girlfriends. Then, the dream revealed to her that Kai was actually the one that started the fire which killed her family.
When Kayo woke up, she wanted revenge on Kai. However, she was still a relatively good person and didn’t want to expose him and his friends for starting the fire, because she knew that would lead to the destruction of Enbizaka. (In Kayo’s dream, it was prophesied that if Kai was brought to justice, Enbizaka would eventually be destroyed). So she decided to pretend that she thought she was Kai’s wife. Yes, in the song, she knows full well what she’s doing, she’s not actually crazy.
So, Kayo kills Kai’s wife, two daughters, and eventually Kai. Well, it turns out that one of Kai’s daughters, the one played by Rin, is actually a REINCARNATION of the Daughter Of Evil. So, a boy who is actually the reincarnation of the Servant Of Evil gets mad because Kayo killed his sister.
So, the reincarnated Servant Of Evil ends up killing Kayo, and Kayo’s head goes on display for the entire town. And..PLOT TWIST...we find out that Kayo’s real husband is actually still alive! Kayo’s real husband, who is played by Gakupo, lost his memories in the fire. He has been working as a monk and was visiting Enbizaka one day. When he sees Kayo’s head, he regains his memories and begins to wish he had remembered sooner, in order to prevent her death.

In her dream, Kayo testified this at her trial and the magistrate Gato Octo declared war on the terrorist group, leading to the destruction of Onigashima and Enbizaka in particular.
When Kayo awoke, she was filled with a need for vengeance towards Kai, coupled with her feelings of envy that his family was still alive while hers had perished.[5] Eventually, on the night of a full moon,Kayo met Kai's wife Mei Miroku late at night and brutally murdered her with her scissors before stripping her of her red kimono and disposing of the body. The body was discovered the following day and the murder investigated by the constables Uibee and Eikichi Akagi.Under another full moon, Kayo similarly killed Kai's daughter Miku by the town bridge and stole her green obi, with Uibee and Eikichi again examining the crime scene.
By this time, Miku's lover Kiji Yarera began using the resources from his family's firm to investigate the case on his own. When Rin Miroku returned to town after leaving to recover from the death of her sister, Kayo targeted her as well and murdered her on a beach, again under a full moon and stealing her new yellow hairpin after doing so.With Rin's disappearance, the magistrate determined that the murderer had a grudge against the Miroku family and a guard was put on Kai Miroku.
Knowing from her dream that Kai would eventually scale Mount Izasa, and being suspected by Kiji's men, Kayo left Enbizaka in the clothes she stole from his family, having repaired and retailored them to fit her. Meeting Kai in an abandoned temple under the full moon, Kayo revealed herself as his family's killer; after explaining her reasons for doing it, she brutally murdered Kai and tore his body apart with her scissors. With her revenge complete, she left the mountain covered in Kai's blood.

This cover kinda blows me away, your voice is so powerful and your use of vibrato (is that the right term ;w;) lends itself really well to this song in particular. On top of that, your lyrics are so clever and poetic (while still, imo, maintaining the underlying meaning of the lines.) Easily the best English dub of Tailor I've ever heard.

-The body that Kayo is in was Ma’s (Mem Aleph) original body. She swapped bodies because Ma said that it will help her get over the loss of her family. (Her family was basically her cousin and their son, Ren.)
- As for Kayo’s original body (black hair and different attire...can’t explain it ngl) is now used by Ma and used Kayo’s name after her death
- Ma’s original body was Lukana Octo’s body (Lukana was one of the women that Venomania had in his harem, refer to Madness/Lunacy of Venomania). Irina Clockworker, Levia Barisol, and Eve Moonlit’s souls woke up in Lukana’s body
-When Kayo was executed...technically that mean Lukana was executed
- Kayo is the daughter of the Demon Envy, Rahab Barisol. Kinda obvious why she has born with envy magic...

I came back to listen to this cover after quite a while, I don't remember whether I've already left a comment but here I am, ugly crying in public, because this version always makes me feel the same emotions that I felt when I listened to the Japanese ver. for the first time: compassion, pity, shock and grief. Enbizaka is such a beautiful song and I believe that this arrangement truly embodies its spirit, the words and the rhythm are perfect, your voice sounds like Luka's, and I love how it vibrates with sadness, envy and rage in different parts of the melody. - "sharper than sharpened scissors" = she's very "sharp", very smart and she's a tailor and uses scissors frequently in her line of work.
- "seeming beyond the seams" = she's more than she seems and again, seams because she's a tailor.
- "she's called the envy of all the community" = everyone envies her and she is the embodiment of the deadly sin Envy.
- "that sole thing holding her back" = the one thing, but sole also like the soles of shoes.
- "even with somebody like me fastened by an oath" = bound by their wedding vows, but also fastened like how one fastens a button on a garment.
- "he'd rather lie with and lie that he's coming home" = he'd rather lie with (have sex) with other women and lie that he's coming home.
- "Mother's blades I've trained to raise as right as she raised me" = she's honed her blades to raise (as in elevate/lift) as well as her mother raised (as in taught) her.
- "sharpen them well and they'll sweep cleaner to your needs" = if you sharpen your scissors well they'll sweep (as in move quickly across; in sewing a sweep is also the circumference of the bottom hem of a skirt, dress, or jacket) very cleanly, quickly. But people also sweep with a broom to clean dirt.
- "scissors clutched tightly while I cut deep into the deed" = deed could refer to her work, her current task, but it could also refer to the "deed" of killing, the act of killing.
Another one I noticed, though I might just be reading too heavily into it, is during the verse about Rin. “Guess that there’s been a second crime, wonder where it was? This cover reminds of the first time i heard this song. I was shocked that we were rooting for the villain of the story for the whole song without realising. At the time we also knew nothing about the story and the song's background since the novels were released much later. It was really a story of delusion, insanity and envy.
The "Am I beautiful?" line still sends chills down my spine.

You know, I don't know how long it had occurred to me that this song in surface level was about a lady killing her "husband's" lovers only to reveal it was a separate family. I just thought that while her husband left she fell in love with a different guy and got enraged by his girlfriends.

She actually has Lukana Octo's body (The Luka that was in madness of Duke Venomania), as a character named Ma was born from 3 souls fusing into Lukana Octo's body and she performed a body switch with Kayo Sudou. She then hypnotised the town to believe that Kayo had always looked that way and left with a newer, fresher body. Because Ma had taken Kayo Sudou's body she took Kayo's name as an alias. Later on, she had a child with a man and named him Gallerian Marlon. Ma was soon put on trial for crimes that I forget (sorry) and was sentenced to death (however, she was practically an immortal being, as well as a magic user, so she obviously escaped). I should mention that Ma wad trying to collect every vessel of sin (an object that every character in the sin series possessed that had their respective demon in it) and absorb each demon onto her body to make herself pure. She was also trying to get rid of the three souls that were in her body, so she had to find vessels (human) to put them in. A while after her "death sentence" she returned to where her son Gallerian lived. She was searching for a vessel of sin. While there she met Michelle, his daughter. She was going off to college soon and decided to go on a trip with her mother to celebrate. On the day before they were scheduled to return a giant octopus attacked the ship and they both drowned. After this, Ma have Gallerian a clockwork doll, saying that Michelle's soul was inside the doll, and told him that he could only speak to Michelle while holding the Marlon Spoon (vessel of greed). She also manipulated him into collecting all vessels of sin for her, saying that that could bring his beloved daughter back. Gallerian insisted that the government fund his project but they refused, and he began to take bribes in underhanded court dealings. On his twentieth birthday Ma took him out to a bar, and Gallerian got very drunk. As they left he tried to seduce Ma, and while Ma initially refused, she realized she could use the child as a vessel for one of those pesky souls inside of her, and so she consented. She gave birth to a child named Nemesis Sudou (one of Ma's aliases was Kayo Sudou). She placed one of the souls into her and abandoned her in the forest. I believe nemesis was saved by the giant octopus that ended up killing Michelle (either way she made friends with that octopus at a young age) and had delusions of her mother raising her to cope with being abandoned. In the end she killed her father and ultimately was the final blow to Ma as well.
