    Added the Firestone bags to my 2016 F-150 that's sitting on a 4" suspension lift. I opted to go with the Air Lift wireless compressor system, just for the convenience. You can control the inflation settings from the Air Lift remote, or from the Air Lift app on your phone. I keep a few PSI profiles in the app for quick inflation to some common things I do... pulling a big trailer, carrying a load feed bags in the bed, etc.

    The spacer that goes under the air bag is for 2wd trucks, not lifted trucks.

    I put the Ride Right air bags on my 2014 F150 over 2 years ago and love it. At the same time I installed a airlift compressor with the remote control. I can adjust my airbags from inside the truck or from about 20 feet away. I used the airlift compressor as it was quite a bit less expensive than the Firestone compressor. I pull a 25 foot travel trailer and use about 28lbs of air. But like the man said every vehicle is different. I mounted the manual air valve in the back bumper next to the receiver in a existing bolt hole.

      I have a 13’ f150 with a leveling kit so when I hook up to my 21 ft travel trailer I get a good amount of rear sag. I installed a WD hitch and it helped, especially with handling, but I still am nose up a little bit. Wondering if the Ride Right airbags is what I need to give me just that extra bit of height in the back for when I tow.

    I had a dealer installed Firestone kit on a 97 F150. It worked great for pulling a boat trailer and hauling ATVs and snowmobile. I took it off when I traded the truck, and noticed it had bent the frame out at the bottom. I don't think the frame strength was compromised, and no one noticed when I traded it. The Ford frame wasn't boxed in 97, so I'm wondering if this is still a problem with the newer trucks?

    Spacer is not required if your truck is leveled by a block. It's logical. The space from the top of axle is the same as a stock truck would be.

  • @cbremer83

    Just picked up an 09 F-150 that a previous owner has a system like this installed on. Mine came through the rear bumper on either side of the license plate for filling. But, I am wondering if an auto fill/deflation system exists for these? Similar to how air springs work on a commercial truck. In the case of my Kenworth at work, it just has an arm attached to the axle and chassis. As the suspension moves up and down the lever either bleeds air from the bags or from the air tanks into the bags. This happens slow enough in both directions that bumps won't really have an effect, but major weight changes do. I figure some sort of electric pump with an air tank should work in a similar matter.

      It's very possible to tear or damage the Air Springs if you off-road aggressively and are fully articulating the rear leaf springs. The Ride-Rite Kit is mostly designed for on-road towing applications, though they can handle mild off-road applications.

    • @fullyford
      @fullyford 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      a taller block doesn't change anything with where the air bag sits. a taller block sits under the leaf spring so the distance from where the bag attaches at the frame and the top of the leaf does not change.

    so whats the deal with the spacer..the manual says its for 2wd trucks only..doesnt say anything about a levelling kit. as long as you have the stock leaf spring and stock spring hangers the distance from the top of the leaf where the bag attaches and to the frame where the air bag attaches does not change with just a rear block levelling kit. the block goes under the leaf spring pushing the axle down farther from the leaf spring.

      Was powering washing my 2018 f-150 with airlift bags and noticed all 4 brackets had bent. One was completely crooked. The self tapper bolts holding it to the axle all snapped. The airlift brackets cannot take hard hits. I really think any bag is gonna limit your inward suspension travel. The brackets and bags take up much more space than the stock bump stops. I will be removing mine and adding leaf springs. Airbags are not great for off-road.

    • @tuber5129
      @tuber5129 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Leave it out. The spacer is for two wheel drive only. I had the same question and was confused by some comments and videos. I have Bilstein leveling shocks on the front and Bilstein shocks on the rear. I used a two post lift when I installed my bags. Because the axle was hanging, it made it look like I had to use the spacer or there would be too much gap. To make matters worse, my work truck is also a leveled F150 with Firestone bags. It and its sister trucks all have the spacer installed, so I thought I was doing the right thing. After installing and putting the bags at 5psi it was obvious now that the truck was off the lift that it didn’t look right. The bags were too compressed. It didn’t look right at all. Fortunately removing the spacer does not require removing the assembly. I just jacked up the truck by the axle and removed the wheel. Then I removed the single bolt on the bottom of the bag and slid out the spacer. Put the shorter bolt in and I was good to go. Interestingly enough, the instruction that came in my kit were different that the ones on line. The instructions say that if it becomes necessary to lift the the truck by the frame, the air bags will support the weight of the axle, but you need to let the air out first. I saw another video showing that a two post lift was not necessary for install. I’m glad mine are installed correctly now, but I will also say that my work trucks have been functioning fine with the spacer installed and they are 4x4 trucks. Maybe the bags won’t wear as well since they’re too compressed though. Guess time will tell. I’d love for the Stage3 guys to weigh in on this.

      Firestone has not confirmed this Ride-Rite kit to fit the gen 2 Raptors unfortunately

    Nothing is labeled left or right, the u bolts are a complete nightmare to get on. A good right angle impact gun would make life simple for this install.

      Being you're the 1st one to mention The Bolts , I'm curious as they appear to be "Sub-Par"! Doesn't seem to be very heavy gauged nor rust resistant. Though I could be wrong but wouldn't Stainless steel bolts be best ?

    Your bottom bracket is on backwards buddy, just installed this same kit and laughed when I saw your crooked bags.

    Why would a manufacturer call the parts right or left side? Absolutely stupid!!! Should be drivers or passenger side. For those of you that don't know, right will be the passenger side. Install was pretty easy with my son helping. 17 f150 eco crew 4wd 6.5 bed. Tow a 9000 pound trailer fully loaded and a dirt bike in the bed of the truck. I'll report back on how it does in 2 weeks.
