    Toying with options atm, wanting to downsize from a 1200gsa to a middleweight.
    Funnily enough, having owned a T7 I'm actually stuck between a secondhand Tiger Rally Pro 900 and a new 800DE so have watched your vids extensively of late.
    Good to see a normal aussie bloke punting these bikes around the bush and really like the unbiased opinions and honesty when reviewing.
    So riddle me this, if you were offered the 800DE and The 900 Rally Pro at the same price, what bike would make it home to the shed?

    • @onthebackwheel
      @onthebackwheel  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks mate. 900 RP for sure. The 800 will no doubt be more reliable, but the 900 is a significant step up all round. In saying that, the 800 is stupid value for money ATM. Hard to beat for the price. Get the suspension done and a few mods and you're still well ahead

    Wow what a cool bike. I've seen some Vlogs with Ricky Carmichael and I know he has done some work with Triumph. Maybe that's why the seat is so low. Lol. Love the sound the engine makes and it really seems like a very good adventure touring bike. For now I'll continue to ride my 2022 KLR which is a bunch cheaper and I have a R1200RT. The Triumph looks like a bike though that I could probably sell both of mine buy it and be pretty happy. Take care. Good Vlog.

    Nice riview. One notice though. The bike is partialy an off road bike. If mounted with 50/50 tyres like the karoo 3's(witch it is suposed to be) one can no expect them to stick to hard road surfaces, shredding like you're on road tyres.
    Any compromise is a compromise. I'm using the Mitas 07+ tyres on my Rally Pro. They're ok on wet road surface, as long as you don't think you're on a trackday. Perfect on gravel and dry offroad conditions. In mud they don't do the thing....clogged up in a sec.
    You will need to change OEM crash bars and plate whenever taking it in real offroad conditions. Those OEM's are just for decorative perposes

    Unfortunately you totally missed the off-road chassis setup for this bike, like 100% of all other testers so you are not alone. th-cam.com/video/HimQEfDbnHw/w-d-xo.html For the road you can increase the damping front and rear and it will get rid of lots of that suspension travel. You should of tried the damping at its two extremes, this bike can have quite firm or quite soft suspension setup depending on your use/preference.

    • @onthebackwheel
      @onthebackwheel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Terry, this is only a first ride review, so I set it at a middle ground for the test and went from there. I ended up having the bike for the originally planned 2 weeks, tweaked the suspension like I normally would and found a really good adventure bike setting. I'll have a look at your video when I get a chance!

  • @yair1956
    @yair1956 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tnx for sharing .. seems like a good option for a GSA Guy that try to downscale, I wish it had Electronic Suspension Control, & keyless ignition switch kind of weird that with all the Candies that this Puppy equipped, Triumph chose to passed on something that so obvious in our world today..... the other thing is to take this route again, but now, with a load lets say 65Lb, & then we can see a real ADV bike performance

    • @onthebackwheel
      @onthebackwheel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the electronic suspension would add weight and price and they wanted to keep it right in this class, she's already expensive. I think it's a perfect step down from a big Beemer. Got all the tech, better off-road and just as quick

    • @yair1956
      @yair1956 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@onthebackwheel All electronic gadgets adding some weight, I checked on the differences between the non electronic suspension on 2007 R1200GSA, & the Electronic suspension on the 2008 R1200GSA & negligible, & yes, she is expensive, & not fully dressed and ready for real long distances, but IMHO, when you invest so much money, you want to have all what is considered , almost as standard on high end product. Coming to the GSA, well, the only reason I considering down scale is age and some health issues, other than that it's, for me, the ultimate long distance Bike.

You can actually raise the seat 20mm up so I reckon that would have made for a better riding experience for you. I am almost 6,2 so I reckon I'd be leaving mine on the highest setting.
