- Today I'm back on location plein air painting! I will be painting with oils and palette knifes on canvas and capturing the Australian sunlight over the majestic gumtrees and tranquil river water!!!

Thanks for another relaxing trip into the outback. Don't have quite as much time to watch at the moment now I've got my own brushes out again, so I have some catching up to look forward to. And it's really interesting to see how different some of the colours look in the studio, lighting changes everything.

Richard, you are awesome with that "tiny" palette knife!😁 I love the running commentary as you go along. The only thing that would make it better? Telling each of the colors you mix up. I know you get most of them but then you get so excited and moving fast that some slip by you. That being said it's a fantastic painting by a fantastic artist. Take care, be safe.

Excellent video, Richard! Excellent painting, too! You do a great job of telling a story with your art, as if it was a natural process of being in the outback, one must naturally capture it in memory, thus in painting. Far better than photography, which is more an imitation of reality than human landscape painting. One says, "I am an exact copy; therefore I am best!" Whereas the other says, "I don't pretend to be other than what this human sees and tries to imply with paint on canvas."
But Please, Richard, move your camera very slowly over your finished painting. Very slowly. So we can see the details clearly. Seeing it far away is one thing, but seeing it up close is a whole new experience. One which any buyer would consider very important. -- Up close you see an entirely different world! In a sense, it's like seeing the world from the point of view of an ant, or a fly, or another creature: all shapes and colors. Think about it. And keep it up!
