    The reason for the alarm from the generator low and high temp controllers is that the system is in walk test, If it were to be in normal condition it would be a supervisory. Also great video Nic!

    👍🏼 Yet another great peek into the world of our favorite buddy to the North.
    The NEXT topic of interest for you… UNLESS you’ve already delved into this field..?
    2-Way Radio Comms !
    A great way to communicate by voice and/or data communications.
    If not currently an amateur radio licensee, it’s definitely a great place to start.
    Does the school system have a radio network in place?
    If so, analog or digital ?
    If digital, P25 (APCO Project 25) or DMR?
    I’m honestly not too familiar with Canadian laws/rules/regs, but I’d like to shoot you over a “care package”
    of “goodies”. I have a bunch of portables / mobiles / base stations (mobiles w/AC power supplies and housing) / repeaters and all sorts of ancillary gear sitting idle in my workshop.
    (Mostly /\/\otorola and Hytera gear plus Orbicom and Zetron infrastructure gear)
    I still have a good amount of test gear on the bench, including a VNA, a spectrum analyzer and so forth.. so duplexer and filter tuning is easily accomplished for anything you’ll be using.
    Let me know what’s in common use where you’re located and other prefs.

    • @PowderMill
      @PowderMill 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Another thought..
      Here in the rapidly declining country of LGBTQIA-P-MAP U.S.A. 🤔😂, we actually have a pretty decent “system” in place for recreational radio users.
      It’s extremely easy and inexpensive to get up and running as far as licensure goes. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) controls the airwaves and they now make it extremely easy to accomplish.
      It’s only $35 bucks for a 10 year license and that covers your ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD of users!
      (Incredibly cheap compared to the $5200 I spent for engineering / frequency coordination and the actual FCC licensing for the 2x UHF “Channels” (actually a pair of freqs makes up a “channel”) and I also tossed in a handful of around a dozen “itinerant” UHF and VHF frequencies and frequency pairs for interoperability. The itinerants do not require coordination, so cost almost nothing extra.
      The FCC permits repeater use on a handful (6?) of the allocated UHF freq pairs (up to 50 watts!) and - unlike public safety and business band type licensed freqs, there’s no requirement for expensive cfrequency coordination. Though that’s a negative if you’re in a busy congested area, as everyone is “sharing” that limited resources of a only few pairs of frequencies.
      As an alternative to utilizing an existing LMR system, you can look into GMRS/FRS type band use. I used GMRS for a few years before licensing several UHF frequency pairs for work and family emergency comms.
      The only dilemma?
      I’m located in the NYC / NJ Metro area, the congestion and intentional annoyance transmissions was ridiculous.
      Kinda like the Wild West of CB (Citizens Band Radio) years back.
      The other issues: Digital modes are NOT permitted (P25, DMR aka”MotoTrbo”, NXDN, etc..).
      It’s Analog only, but narrowband requirements do not apply. (instead of 12.5khz, it’s all “wide” 25khz spacing).
      Encryption is also NOT permitted on GMRS.
      Most of the GMRS/FRS allocated spectrum is power limited to under 2 or 5 watts maximum.
      Bottom line, before I continue babbling on, what’s an easy way to get ahold of the Canuck Sparky to the North?
      🙂

    You should add a wifi sound sensor near one of your alarms and then make an automation that triggers your garage door to close when it detects the fire alarm going off.

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  ปีที่แล้ว

      I had other ideas in the past with the garage door opener like access control the problem is with these residential openers is they don't have any auxiliary contacts where you can tie anything into so it makes it difficult to add any automation

      The flow switch does not offer a delay option they can be delayed up to 90 seconds the only way I can delay mine would be possibly a programmed delay but that wouldn't be a mechanical delay like in the flow switch itself so there would be no point
