Dan Lok hey dan nice video!!!!!.Do a video on how to apply all the moves in jkd in real life i mean how to set them up effectively.Show some moves in JKD that can be used to start a fight as all the moves u taught in the previous videos can be used only in case of intercepting when someone approaches to beat us up,show some moves that can be used to beat up our opponent when he is losing the fight nd covering up his head fr protection for example in mma they use boxing combinations so what are the moves in JKD for situations like these?
Hello, Dan. I sent you a personal and private message on Facebook. Someone else replied that he was your assistant and mentioned that you were very busy. I respect that but, if you would please read it, I would greatly appreciate it. I sent it yesterday. Thanks so much.
Dude your technique and speed are pretty damn incredible. I’ve practiced traditional Okinawan kenpo for 15 years and in just watching this video I’ve realized I’ve been throwing elbows wrong my whole life. I can’t believe how much my mind was blown when you showed that simple yet completely game changing tip to turn your hand to enlarge and expose more of the bone to cause more damage. I’m def subbing to your channel.
Dear Mr Lok. You are the guru I've been looking for. 'Guru' means 'one who takes us from darkness into light'. Being a human spirit means also that you learn how to fight. I wish I lived near you so that I could be one of your students. However, what I can do is watch you videos every day and absorb your teaching. Also, I can improve my body fitness, which I will do. You have inspired me to do this. Thank you Mr Lok. You have given me that aspect of my day that was lacking: learning the human art of fighting.
Mr. Lok - You are arguably the greatest martial arts instructor I have ever seen. As a lifelong student of the teaching arts and martial arts, I cannot say enough good things about your martial arts skills and your teaching skills. Men and women worldwide owe you a debt of gratitude for using your skills to provide such incredibly valuable instruction to us all.
Just joined the Dan Lok School, I am grateful to have stumbled onto this channel. The fighting stuff brought me here but the business stuff is what I really need to learn about.
Fillup 82 good point. I don't know but maybe he just seems different in the videos. I was thinking the same thing. I think in those videos he is appealing to his more affluent audience. In these videos he seems more relatable.
Your speed and technicians incredible that's exactly how I practice I do the elbows and Strikes and combination and parking at the same time and I focus on the movement of my whole body I'm looking at you I know for a fact you are the real deal
I koed so many foes back in my younger days using 90% elbows. It's just so effective because it uses so tiny bit of effort for so much result and most 90% back in my days were wrestlers so it waz cake. Nice trick I use is countering fists using elbows. Gg fist.
It’s better to use an elbow than break a hand. No gloves on the street. Even if your punch is aimed correctly - they move a little- and you hit their 💀. Bad result. 😎
I spend chunks of time mimicing bruce lee moves, one of my favorites being the lunge based strikes from when he tried to implement fencing techniques into his martial arts. I figured out that using an elbow lunge in a specific way can easily result in a person's death.
Very accurate points, as I've noticed these techniques from being in and watching street fights. When one of the fighters stands there fairly relaxed and then with little to no telegraphing the speed and surprise are usually quite effective. And most times the one who explodes from shorter distances, ( like famous 1" punch from Bruce Lee) shows that if proper techniques are used, linking the chain, explosive, unexpected and snappy strikes and follow thru strikes are more effective in real world unpredictable fights. Just watch these small, fast and unassuming stances from some of the " underdogs or less confrontational" fighters just completely surprise and usually knock out their bigger/ stronger opponent, who had no chance orl little time to react. Proof that everything in the video was on point.
@Dan lok i appreciate your your videos on jeet kune do ive been practicing for 7 years on and off ive been putting alot of tactical jkd training to use in my sparring matches also being relexed and. Being non telegraphcal with my techniques i gotta say that your videos are greatly appreciated keep doing the good work.
Thanks Dan for your terrific elbow strikes demo! Some know-nothing loudmouths say Chinese Gung Fu is worthless not knowing many of the stuff they see UFC fighters use in fights are actually derived from Chinese Gung Fu! You are a terrific representative of Chinese martial arts!
Just found the channel. Been surfing through the videos. Absolutely love what I see, thank you for taking the time to share all that you do. I look forward to seeing many more!!
Elbow strike at the tip of elbow move consists of horizontal, upward, downward, back, cut. Never wide swing elbow. Doing it correctly combo beautifully and this elbow going to destroy and smash everything... Sifu elbows are very very dangerous.
I like the way you break down the strikes. My hand is messed up from an old accident, and striking with it probably hurts me more than it would someone else. It is nice to have these as well as open hand strikes for potential defense scenarios. Not sure if you have one out, I will check, but for someone with experience, yet is disabled, would like to see a video about using devices similar to those disabled or older persons might use, as far as defensive capabilities are concerned. Thinking of things like ambulatory aids like a cane or canadian crutch to quickly disable an attacker. Disabled people make attractive targets for criminals.
Dan Watched your elbow strikes video. Found it very informative n useful. Kudos to you. Looking forward to your next video, especially street fighting emphasis techniques.
Thank you Dan very much for sharing it with the usual quality. I've been praticed it on a wood picture but I feel a big pain in my elbow...is there a tip to avoid injures in a training like this one?
Conditioning is all you can do. Train these on a bag of you need to. If you use these on a wall or a skull you will bruise your elbow and it hurts for longer than a comparable bruise of the same size because the bone itself is taking damage.
Simply Magnificent .... Great learn today ... Lot of Thanks.... i can pay for school of martial art and for people like me this is real help... Thanks again.
Bro your amazing!! They way you teach talk !! It just makes it more easier I have learned so quickly !! I took taik won do for 2 years !! There no legit win chun in fl tjis my only way !! You make it so easy !! Keep them coming plz
Thank you for sharing different types of elbow strikes I know 2 and the other 2 I didn't know and thanks for the proper way to elbow and your other videos too you've been really helpful you have a blessed day my friend
Thank you for this awesome video which helps a kung fu novice like me a lot. I will practice these a lot to be ready for defense of myself and my family
25 years ago I was learning wing tsun in Germany.... I was at school for two years... One special day Mr. Leung Ting and Mr. Kernspecht came to an event... I saw them both in reality.... It was a nice experience 😁
My favorite part groin shot and try to ripp them off .... would like to see a video for self-defense for the physically disabled... great video by the way
Nice explanations of elbow strikes, we see them in chum kiu and biu gee, and the knives form. You have to be close for elbow strikes, but if you stay relaxed and let your turning and hip turn help, it can accelerate the strike in a short space. Also, if you play around with it a bit, you’ll see that a hook punch is similar in arc and range as elbow strike, just let your hand and forearm keep turning into your body. You could even hook punch and hit again with the same elbow. Also remember to keep your guard hand/arm up for shield. When you stay relaxed and combine ‘inch punch’ power with a quick snap into the elbow strike, letting the whole body turn force into the strike, it is powerful. Practicing on a heavy bag builds power and keeps you from getting knocked back from a weak stance. Be sure your target has some give, last year I injured my shoulder by striking a wall bag, oops. Good thing a human moves more than a wall. On that down elbow, do like Dan said, stay loose, relaxed, really ‘sink’ into that strike, BAM it can be powerful. Be water and keep learning, and be nice to others as much as you can. ;)
Dan-elbow-jutsu AWESOME. I love his no BS combative style. I'm bringing back the combativeness of American Kenpo Karate met with extreme resistance by ego. I'm but a drop in a bucket but my dream is to overflow the stagnation

“Small hinges, turn big doors.”
Came here for the philosophy, not style.
Exceedingly impressed.

You’re the only other individual outside of one of my sifu’s I’ve heard mention that proficient elbow strikes are like blades that can cut open flesh
Thats why you can't use elbows or head butt in boxing, they cut you.
Its basic knowledge
