I know the education system is in bad shape. So maybe young people can't pass it. Any young people out there want to weigh in? That means give us your opinion, just in case it's as bad as it seems.
(almost) 73 years of age here... I have to say that you have the answer TRANSIENT twice for # 11. But even with that, I got 100% correct. This was refreshingly easy. Thanks.
I can’t believe that only 8% pass. Reading is the best way to bolster your vocabulary. Sometimes I wonder if people read anymore. 30/30. No eliminations, no guesses. I knew them all immediately, but everyone in my family have been avid readers.😊
YEA, us "old" folks got no problems with reading... it's the young 'uns that just would rather keep their eyes glued to their phones! you'd think they'd at least learn to read from doing that... but nope.
Of of course you did. Because when you went to school, they taught reading writing and arithmetic. Now they just teach you about two daddies or how to put on a condom
29 of 30 for an old guy in his 80s, I still got it! Number 11 had "transient" as a potential answer twice. You got me with "dearth" which I've had a lifelong issue trying to get through my thick skull!
I agree with you on the failure of the education system, but I think it's a generational difference as well. The younger people don't read the news, short stories, novels, literature, or any other meaningful writings anymore. Especially the Holy Bible.
Sure, older folks likely do better because they have had time to build up a vocabulary. I don't know if it's the "education system" or the "education" that is failing our youth, but I think that the subjects being taught in schools need to be revised to better prepare our youth for a more modern and complex society.
I have a closed heas injury and got them all right! English & reading was always a passion of mine. My parents had the Encyclopedia Britanica in my house growing up!!
I have a question and an observation. The question is, what score constitutes "passing"? The observation is, whoever constructed this test needs to learn how to properly construct a multiple choice quiz On the majority of the questions, the three incorrect choices were all close to antithetical to the correct choice. Not how you're supposed to set these up. BTW, 30/30.
I'm 71 years old and I got all 30, without hesitation. I have been a lifelong reader. Sad that only 8% can get it. When I was a kid, I used to peruse the dictionary for fun.
Wow, that's incredible! It's amazing to hear how your lifelong love of reading and curiosity has stayed with you all these years. Browsing the dictionary for fun is such a unique way to build knowledge-it definitely shows in your perfect score! Thank you for sharing your story; it’s inspiring to know how much a passion for learning can enrich a lifetime. ❤😊👏💯
29 of 30 because I’m watching the Rams and Cardinals. Graduated in ‘82’ and still read every day, just not things on Facebook. Todays parents, STAY on your kids and off the phone…..
Number 11 has transient for both b and c. I missed two. The only way someone won't pass is if they are still learning English, or they simply dont read much.
These are good for those folks who use these words when they speak but for the everyday folks - these examples don’t fit into everyday use because they don’t talk using those words not even those in mainstream management positions. I know because I was one. 8% passing is an awesome percent.
I got 29 out of 30. I am 65 years old; a high school grad with only a few college courses. I am not an avid reader. I agree with the person who commented "If only 8% of people can pass this then we're doomed."
30/30 - no problem whatsoever. Even a native speaker at the high school level should be able to make the right choices. The SAT verbal section has questions which are MUCH more challenging than this. Probably Gen Z'ers and younger, who aren't taught to read that much would have more trouble getting all of these answered correctly.
I'm 70 ...and 2 wrong..... because it was misused in the statement... one was Flout.. I thought it was to disregard or ignore the person...Disrespect to me is....... to tell them they are wrong...!!!...mmmmmm
I thought these were easy peasy, but then I've been reading since I was 3 and now I'm 73 and still read 3-4 books a week. I do fear for the younger generation today as the school systems are so broken and most people under the age of 30-40 don't seem to read much any longer. It's all technology and computers.
Okay, I got 30 / 30 … BUT quite a few were by a process of elimination rather than being absolutely certain. If I hadn’t had these clues and it was strictly a true or false situation, I probably would not have gotten all the answers correct !!
Excellent job, Penguin Vic! Using the process of elimination shows great reasoning skills, and it’s part of what makes quizzes fun. Well done on the perfect score! 💯❤👍
TY, recovering from MINI STROKE, thus made me feel like my brain is still connecting with intelligence. BLESSINGS TO the creator of this vedio. MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL
Thank you for your kind words! I'm so sorry to hear about your mini stroke, but I'm glad you're on the path to recovery. It’s inspiring to see your positive attitude and strength. Sending you lots of positive energy and healing wishes this holiday season. Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄✨❤👍
I missed Sanguine! I should have been able to eliminate the other options, but I chose Ornate and knew that wasn't it right when I said it. If I had more time, I would have said Sanguine even though I hadn't heard it before. 29 out of 30!
I got sanguine wrong too---only one wrong---I thought sanguine meant more of a sense of being steady, but I looked it up, and it does mean to be confidently optimistic.
Any English person with a reasonable education should find these simple.
Could be for people wanting to speak a second language

i got 27 rong and 3 rite. many words not herd befor.
Agreed
Click bait
If only eight percent can pass this means we’re doomed.
All these "tests" are nothing but clickbait...

Got 29/30. Anybody with a reasonable knowledge of English will get most of these
(almost) 73 years of age here... I have to say that you have the answer TRANSIENT twice for # 11. But even with that, I got 100% correct. This was refreshingly easy. Thanks.
100 % also. ❤
Me, too.
Click bait. Of course it was easy
😅
Maybe it depends on age group. 😊
77 years old. Didn't miss any of them. How can only 8% pass? It would make more sense if only 8% would NOT pass.
Same here. I assumed it was a test for, perhaps, 7th - 8th grade reading level?
Well if the average reading grade level in America is 6th grade....
Excellent comment!! ❤😊
I think that they said in order to get folks to watch video and take the test.
I can’t believe that only 8% pass. Reading is the best way to bolster your vocabulary. Sometimes I wonder if people read anymore. 30/30. No eliminations, no guesses. I knew them all immediately, but everyone in my family have been avid readers.😊
Or maybe they are liars. How can that be when everything is true on the Internet?
Sure people read.... if you call smartphones reading....
YEA, us "old" folks got no problems with reading... it's the young 'uns that just would rather keep their eyes glued to their phones! you'd think they'd at least learn to read from doing that... but nope.

@annepryor9 Yes, I'm the only one of my family that reads books since I was taught to spell and there were 9 of us, apart from my parents.
I’m 84 years old- got all correct - first time!🇨🇦
I would be embarrassed for you if you didn't. Every English speaking Canaddian should get these. We are all in the top 8%!
Excellent job, Mary! Thanks for taking the quiz. 💯❤👍
I’m a 91 yr old reader got then
M all though no 11 was the Sam word twice
I agree the words were obvious if you knew the language
Interesting
@PaulKnowles-bs1bu I'm 71. Like you, we got better education than the kids today. More time reading and less time on video games.
Of of course you did. Because when you went to school, they taught reading writing and arithmetic.
Now they just teach you about two daddies or how to put on a condom

That was the same and only one I missed too.
Number 11, is it C or D? :P The same word.
yea, I caught that too. what can you expect from AI?
Probably not an English Teacher mistake. So C and D are both correct. Just because they say one is right and the other is wrong is a flaw in the test.
@@ChrisLichowicz Yes I was raising this test flaw.
Since C and D are the same, either answer is correct. You would think that the designer of this test would have caught that.
@davidhowse884
Have you noticed it's only us boomers that are bitching about the test flaws? 🤔
notice all the older people did well!
