Any English person with a reasonable education should find these simple.
Could be for people wanting to speak a second language
-1
i got 27 rong and 3 rite. many words not herd befor.
Agreed
Click bait
Got 29/30. Anybody with a reasonable knowledge of English will get most of these
(almost) 73 years of age here... I have to say that you have the answer TRANSIENT twice for # 11. But even with that, I got 100% correct. This was refreshingly easy. Thanks.
100 % also. ❤
Me, too.
Click bait. Of course it was easy
😅
Maybe it depends on age group. 😊
If only eight percent can pass this means we’re doomed.
All these "tests" are nothing but clickbait...
@@hookedupin2005 yep
@@hookedupin2005did u take it…lol…..no….ahhh why not?
Thats for sure I passed this not sure how many 20 yo’s can…sad…sad..it reflects in the country as well
I know the education system is in bad shape. So maybe young people can't pass it. Any young people out there want to weigh in?
That means give us your opinion, just in case it's as bad as it seems.
I can’t believe that only 8% pass. Reading is the best way to bolster your vocabulary. Sometimes I wonder if people read anymore. 30/30. No eliminations, no guesses. I knew them all immediately, but everyone in my family have been avid readers.😊
Or maybe they are liars. How can that be when everything is true on the Internet?
Sure people read.... if you call smartphones reading....
YEA, us "old" folks got no problems with reading... it's the young 'uns that just would rather keep their eyes glued to their phones! you'd think they'd at least learn to read from doing that... but nope.
It's click bait.
@annepryor9 Yes, I'm the only one of my family that reads books since I was taught to spell and there were 9 of us, apart from my parents.
77 years old. Didn't miss any of them. How can only 8% pass? It would make more sense if only 8% would NOT pass.
Same here. I assumed it was a test for, perhaps, 7th - 8th grade reading level?
Well if the average reading grade level in America is 6th grade....
Excellent comment!! ❤😊
I think that they said in order to get folks to watch video and take the test.
Clickbait
I’m 84 years old- got all correct - first time!🇨🇦
I would be embarrassed for you if you didn't. Every English speaking Canaddian should get these. We are all in the top 8%!
Excellent job, Mary! Thanks for taking the quiz. 💯❤👍
I’m a 91 yr old reader got then
M all though no 11 was the Sam word twice
I agree the words were obvious if you knew the language
Interesting
@PaulKnowles-bs1bu I'm 71. Like you, we got better education than the kids today. More time reading and less time on video games.
Of of course you did. Because when you went to school, they taught reading writing and arithmetic.
Now they just teach you about two daddies or how to put on a condom
notice all the older people did well!
Our education system has failed our youth
Hey! 😠 'You mean *Experienced Citizens* did well? 😊
Sure, older folks likely do better because they have had time to build up a vocabulary. I don't know if it's the "education system" or the "education" that is failing our youth, but I think that the subjects being taught in schools need to be revised to better prepare our youth for a more modern and complex society.
@@DamarisWilliams-k8g my so got 100% i made him learn and still is at 34
The youth of today does not indulge in reading - but they r ahead in things related to technology
29 of 30 for an old guy in his 80s, I still got it! Number 11 had "transient" as a potential answer twice.
You got me with "dearth" which I've had a lifelong issue trying to get through my thick skull!
That was the same and only one I missed too.
Got all of them and I’m 93 years old!!!!
You were trained that way
Congratulations on acing the quiz with a perfect score. Keep up the good work! 💯❤️👍
That's very good but at 93 years old, i should think so
We grow wiser as we age
I'm a 66 year-old retired government from the Philippines and i got a perfect score. Nice to know i'm not yet senile 😊
Still live in the Philippines?
i mean retired gov't employee, and yes, still live here in the Phil.
@ very nice, I was at the Embassy for 1 1/2 years, a hundred years ago. Have often considered visiting again. Live a long good life over there, and be healthy.
So much for the theory of evolution. If only 8 percent of the population can pass this, we must be devolving.
I'm 71 years old and I got all 30, without hesitation. I have been a lifelong reader. Sad that only 8% can get it. When I was a kid, I used to peruse the dictionary for fun.
Wow, that's incredible! It's amazing to hear how your lifelong love of reading and curiosity has stayed with you all these years. Browsing the dictionary for fun is such a unique way to build knowledge-it definitely shows in your perfect score! Thank you for sharing your story; it’s inspiring to know how much a passion for learning can enrich a lifetime. ❤😊👏💯
I got 29 out of 30. I am 65 years old; a high school grad with only a few college courses. I am not an avid reader. I agree with the person who commented "If only 8% of people can pass this then we're doomed."
I have a closed heas injury and got them all right! English & reading was always a passion of mine. My parents had the Encyclopedia Britanica in my house growing up!!
i have that and world book as well my son reading them still @ 34
Number 11, is it C or D? :P The same word.
yea, I caught that too. what can you expect from AI?
Probably not an English Teacher mistake. So C and D are both correct. Just because they say one is right and the other is wrong is a flaw in the test.
@@ChrisLichowicz Yes I was raising this test flaw.
Since C and D are the same, either answer is correct. You would think that the designer of this test would have caught that.
@davidhowse884
Have you noticed it's only us boomers that are bitching about the test flaws? 🤔
30/30.I think I would have a real problem if I got any of them wrong. Too easy.
I guess I a real problem cause I got 2 wrong!
@@kathyborthwick6738LakotaEmoji Naw, that's not a problem. I could tell you some REAL PROBLEMS!😉
I have a question and an observation. The question is, what score constitutes "passing"? The observation is, whoever constructed this test needs to learn how to properly construct a multiple choice quiz On the majority of the questions, the three incorrect choices were all close to antithetical to the correct choice. Not how you're supposed to set these up. BTW, 30/30.
This was easy. 8% passed? So sad. What does this say about our education system? This is hard to believe.
It depends on which country your from i guess
29 of 30 because I’m watching the Rams and Cardinals. Graduated in ‘82’ and still read every day, just not things on Facebook. Todays parents, STAY on your kids and off the phone…..
Are we that dumbed down that we don't know the meaning of simple words? No wonder we're in our current situation.
True that!
30/30, A couple gave me cause to pause and have a closer look, cheers Brent
30/30 if only 8% can pass this our country is in trouble 😮
Just look at who won the latest presidential election. We are in trouble!
I got all 30 questions correct. It is a fairly easy test.
❤❤❤
Learning to use these words in sentences was good enough for me. Thanks
English is my second language: 29/30. I love to read!
Great job! Keep up the good work. ❤👍
English is my second language too. 30/30.
29 out of 30. 68 yrs old. Proof drugs never harmed us in the 80's😂😅
Good job So happy

Our society is doomed Now I understand 54% cannot read above 5th or 6th grade level
Got 28/30🥰🙏
Good job! Thanks for participating! ❤👍
Easiest I’ve taken!😊 6:12 6:14 6:24
I can't believe that only 8% of the population can pass this test. I'm 76 but looking back to when I was a teenager, I still think I would have aced this test.
73 years old. We were educated in the olden days. I missed one. Sanguine. But now I know.
Well done! I'm glad you learned something new.
29/30 for an 86 years old refugee. The three incorrect choices are too obvious. Thank you
30/30. I like "Vocabulary quizzes", they are among my favourites. Ciao.
@Patrizia, congrats on the perfect score! I'm so glad you enjoy vocabulary quizzes-more are coming soon! Ciao! 💯❤👍
Good
Yay! I got 30 out of 30 correct! English was my favorite subject in school! I also like to read and write! My high school teacher would be so proud!
That is awesome! Keep up the amazing work! 💯❤👍
Thank You. 26/30. Keep Well !!!!!
Nice job! Thanks for participating! ❤️👍
Ditto
Same here
These are good for those folks who use these words when they speak but for the everyday folks - these examples don’t fit into everyday use because they don’t talk using those words not even those in mainstream management positions. I know because I was one. 8% passing is an awesome percent.
I got them all right, but as someone said “ I know I’m intelligent because I know I know nothing”
Fantastic job! Keep up the good work! 💯❤️👍
This was a nice beginners test, looking forward to the next levels!
Was #11 a trick question? C and D were
the same word. I got 29/30.
No, just a bad test maker.
I thought these were easy peasy, but then I've been reading since I was 3 and now I'm 73 and still read 3-4 books a week. I do fear for the younger generation today as the school systems are so broken and most people under the age of 30-40 don't seem to read much any longer. It's all technology and computers.
3 wrong! I scored 90%!
Well done! ❤👍
Same here.
I'm 70 ...and 2 wrong..... because it was misused in the statement... one was Flout.. I thought it was to disregard or ignore the person...Disrespect to me is....... to tell them they are wrong...!!!...mmmmmm
Emulate!
Thanks for the exercise
Man, I aced this, perfectly. Next level, plz...
I got 28 out of 30. I think that was pretty 👍
One Love ❤
Good job! Thank you for taking the quiz. ❤️👍
You had the words amity, innovate, espy which I had to look up. Thanks for helping me learn new words. I got everything else right. I love words.
30/30 - no problem whatsoever. Even a native speaker at the high school level should be able to make the right choices. The SAT verbal section has questions which are MUCH more challenging than this. Probably Gen Z'ers and younger, who aren't taught to read that much would have more trouble getting all of these answered correctly.
I doubt it. Some native English speaking adults have poor grammar
❤❤❤❤
Words that I hardly use, but my score was 24 / 30...😊
There is a pattern here. Usually, three words mean approximately the opposite of the definition, one word is the definition.
Easy!
1 wrong
I enjoyed that ❤
Thank you
Well done! Thanks for taking the quiz. Glad you enjoyed it. ❤👍
28 out of 30. I am an old Italian lady who lives in Italy and never visited or lived in an English speaking country.
Number 11 has transient for both b and c. I missed two. The only way someone won't pass is if they are still learning English, or they simply dont read much.
try Ebonics OR common core
29/30 😄 “surfeit” got me 😢
Well done! Thanks for participating! ❤️👍
❤❤❤
Got all right.
Excellent job! 💯❤👍
4 wrong
Good job! ❤️👍
Got 25/30
Well done, Pamela! ❤️👍
You should give us less time-too easy
Just speed it up like I did. It was too slow, set speed at 1.5.
100%correct. 63 years old.
76 years old. Got 30 correct.
Excellent job! Keep up the good work! 💯😊👍
Wow fantastic
English as second language, and I got them all. Two or three by process of elimination . . .
Emulate.
30/30, WITH THE HELP OF SOME COMMON SENSE...
THANK YOU!
Easy...got them all
I got 25 right out of 30
Good job! ❤️👍
@englishtestsandlogic thank you
It’s hard to believe only 8% can pass. I got them all right and I’m only a high school graduate.
Great job! Thanks for taking the quiz. ❤👍
Me too , only been to secondary and no further
Emulate.😊
I got 27 out of 30..
I had 26 out of 30
Okay, I got 30 / 30 … BUT quite a few were by a process of elimination rather than being absolutely certain. If I hadn’t had these clues and it was strictly a true or false situation, I probably would not have gotten all the answers correct !!
Excellent job, Penguin Vic! Using the process of elimination shows great reasoning skills, and it’s part of what makes quizzes fun. Well done on the perfect score! 💯❤👍
I got perfect score
Great job, Mary! Thanks for participating! 💯❤👍
Missed two
30/30...thank you for this interesting and very helpful quiz
❤❤❤
Got one wrong. 96.6%. Very good! 😊
Good job 😊
I like this ! I like to use these words of power!
Very easy but fun.
Well done! Thanks for participating! ❤️👍
High school drop- out.....went to trade school.....got 100%
Darn...93%. Had to speed it up! Well this makes me feel better about the oncoming Alzheimer’s. Plus the words aren't really obscure.
I can't believe that only 8% of people got these correct, that's sad
All correct and I'm not a genius
Got 100%…if you didn’t know the word outright…you could go by process of elimination.
ponder
You all are commenting how easy this test was. what do you think motivated you to take this test? It's because ,as with most bright people, you're curious. the test is "easy" for you
because you all have IQs above average.
An average IQ is 100 and most of you have no idea how limiting that IQ is.
28/30 I'm of Bantu origin 🫶🏾 not really my dialect, but I do well with it
Wow awesome 👍❤
It seems pretty good 👍
29/30. Some of the words that I didn’t know, I answered correctly because I knew the definitions of the remaining 3 options.
it is easy to understand
all right
Wow, that's impressive! Keep up the great work! 💯❤👍
29/30
85 yrs old got them all, yrs of learning !
Relinquish

I missed Sanguine! I should have been able to eliminate the other options, but I chose Ornate and knew that wasn't it right when I said it. If I had more time, I would have said Sanguine even though I hadn't heard it before. 29 out of 30!
I got sanguine wrong too---only one wrong---I thought sanguine meant more of a sense of being steady, but I looked it up, and it does mean to be confidently optimistic.
Same one I missed.

29/30,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,tks
Great job, Terry! ❤️👍
