    I honestly really appreciate your breakdown as I knew about frenzy with explosive payload when it came to sharing the perks, but I completely disregarded one for all as the better option.

    Really hoping the reprised VoG weapons will bring Fatebringer back up to par when we get them but until then, I’m really happy with my EP/Frenzy Coup.

      Kinda irrelevant but I hope that if bungie ever updates the vog weapons they also bring back the age of triumph armor from destiny 1 like they did with the crota armor

      It’s a solid role. Keep using it homie. But yeah I agree. Fatebringer with some newer perks would be awesome. But also the raid has a bunch of weapons in solid weapon frame archetypes. So some new perks would be amazing.

      I dunno. Maybe like a baby version of it. Might be a lil broken if they made it straight up an origin trait haha.
      I will say, I don’t like that perks like bait and switch, reconstruction, rewind rounds, and other raid perks are just normal on random legendary weapons now. Raids should have unique perks forever, which makes them forever a standard of loot.

    Hey nice review, I love my MC with firefly and one for all, almost 9k kills. Best sounding HC, feels great and good origin perk. It's so well rounded, and I'm not even a HC guy, too bad it's not 150rpm anymore. Also, subbed!

      glad you enjoyed! I have the same role, and its super solid. My buddy I usually run with uses that exact roll. nothing wrong trading the bonus damage of explosive payload for the AOE of firefly, especially when one for all is already giving so much extra damage.

      Yup! Although midnight coup is the “better” option, ultimately when it comes down to it, the weapon that feels more comfortable to use is what’s going to carry you.

    I like explosive payload frenzy, because you can use that weapon on both raid content and grandmasters (explosive payload better for champ stun). If you wanna save vault space, get that of whichever is easier.
    Also I would say if you're: 1) a new player 2) need a handcannon 3) have leftover spoils, the adept fatebringer can get a guaranteed explosive payload, which makes it more likely to get the god roll.

      I do agree that explosive payload and frenzy together make an excellent role, and if that’s your desired role, and you don’t care much for enhanced perks or an origin trait, fatebringer adept is certainly easier to acquire that role through spoils and Templar farming.
      In terms of “better” roles, midnight coup has an intrinsically faster base reload as it is a light weight frame, so the reload bonus of frenzy isn’t as needed. This, in combination with the way higher bonus damage of one for all (35%) as high up time if not higher than frenzy in most modern day content, makes it a better perk than frenzy. Hence why most day one raiders and content creators that use it in raids gravitate towards that role nowadays.
      One for all with firefly or explosive payload has near constant uptime. But frenzy requires almost nothing. Both perks activate by just playing though. It’s preference. I do think people are still a little stuck on frenzy though for end game content as it’s not really a game changing perk like on for all is when it comes to time to kill. But it has other stat bonuses that one for all doesn’t have. So like I said, preference.
      Fatebringer is def easier to get the explosive payload and frenzy role, and yes, with the adept, will save vault space. However, most new players for what ever reason will not go into a hard mode raid to get the initial drop, let alone farm, purely because they simply avoid LFG for some reason. So for those players, midnight coup is easy to attune and has numerous solid roles to boot. There are bonuses to both hand cannons. I kinda wish I went over the perks of actually farming each gun in this video but sadly I didn’t.
      One other thing I probably should have highlighted is weapon comfort. If one option feels better to use in pve, probably use that even if the perks are slightly different. What ever is more comfortable to use is generally what I recommend for end game content, unless the weapon is just out right worse in every way.

      @@yol_n I assume you meant thresh frenzy. I would say no. The goal of a kinetic hand cannon is straight damage. explosive payload and frenzy on fatebringer does that better. and if you want a super regen perk, believe it or not, kinetic tremors actually supplies faster super regen on tremors hits. Midnight coup is simply the better option for almost everything. I have a video coming out that explains all of the upsides and downsides of the perk, as well as the best weapon types to use it on.

      Yup! If you want more damage than fatebringer with similar on demand up time, explosive payload + oneforall. If you want champion damage, explosive payload + kinetic tremors. If you want firefly with some damage, one for all is way better than explosive payload. Its sort of a open and shut matter imo. Midnight is just better.

    Still trying to get my personal god roll target of Explosive + Kinetic Tremors on Midnight. Plus Midnight is the easier gun to get. Explosive + OFA or Explosive + Frenzy are ones great. Haven't had a use for it this episode, but when they come back those are what I go for.

      Yessir. Def haven’t used the handcannon as much this episode as area of denial GLs are currently smacking, and rocket side arms exist. But if I have to use a hand cannon, it’s either explosive payload OFA midnight or explosive payload incandescent zaoulis bane.
      Explosive payload kinetic is great in grandmasters and day one raids/dungeons. I’d try and get it.

    I remember when Fatebringer (Timelost) was the top tier hand cannon to get and everyone was running master VoG Templar to get the drop..I think sandbox has moved beyond it now sadly but keep one in my vault just in case the meta shifts back to hand cannons again.

      Yeah for sure the meta has certainly evolved past it. Although, I will say, if your goal is to get an explosive payload frenzy midnight coup, the difference between fatebringer and midnight coup only comes down to enhanced perks and origin traits, and that is such a small difference. I would toss it up to feel at that point.
      Midnight coup certainly has perks that outperform fatebringer though. I hope they renew VoG weapons soon.

    I still use the og midnight coup....only 10k bc I barely use kinetic primaries, but when I do... I use og.

      Personally I could never go back to the OG midnight as outlaw and rampage is so power krept. I would not mind getting a new one with explosive payload and rampage together, but they need to fix the bug between the two perks first.
      But if that’s your mojo, keep goin man! I remember using that weapon a good bit. The thing was fun to use.

    U r right, midnight coup (frenzy + Ep best imo) is really good and totally replaced my beloved fatebringer… I wish they bring back pali tho… Gospel is good but I miss pali

      I think explosive payload and frenzy is solid. I just think one for all is a good bit better because it’s way higher in damage, and the hand cannon has high reload at base due to being a lightweight frame 140, so you don’t need the reload bonus. But frenzy is also really good.
      Palindrome needs to come back tho I agree. It feels way better than gospel imo, and I’m surprised it’s not back yet.

    Just wanted to post this comment here.
    There are many handcannons that can role with the perk combination of explosive payload + rampage. Until further notice, DO NOT USE THIS PERK COMBINATION. Rampage is the only damage perk in the game that does not work with explosive payload, as it results in less damage than anticipated. Ill be posting a video on this issue soon, but numerous hand cannons have this problem. aside from that, any damage perk withe explosive payload is solid.

    I just can't get over how Midnight's grip looks so smooth that the gun would fly out of your hand if you fired it.
    The lack of an ergonomics is just... gross.
    Fatebringer wins for me since it looks way better imo.

      I do agree fatebringer does look better. It definitely captures that classic destiny weapon aesthetic that I wish many more weapons would do. Sadly the aesthetic of destiny 2 is much more akin to power rangers or mobile games nowadays in my opinion. The vibes of destiny has sorta left the game.
      Either way, I do have friends that feel the exact same way about midnight coup. It certainly looks and feels different. For me, it is the barrel. I sorta had to get used to the gun after using fatebringer for so long, but after trying out one for all, its impossible for me to go back. it is just too much damage.
      But use whats comfortable! that is what matters most when playing end game content. As long as the perks are solid on both options, choose what you think you will perform best with and what you can rely on when things get tough. If you like how fatebringer feels and looks, there is nothing wrong with sticking with it. It is tried and true. The perks are not bad by any means. I just wanted to highlight the clear advantage of midnight coup, and if you choose to eventually migrate and get used to it, I promise it will serve you well.

    Osmosis is one of the only reasons to still go back for Fatebringer, for build synergies and some niche situations

      thats fair. Id say you are probably still better off using a void arc solar stasis or strand hand cannon though if you care for the synergy. kinetics tend to just be for pure killing power. but something like an osmosis frenzy roll on fatebringer aint too bad.

    Midnight Coup clears Fatebringer by miles. However, I kept 3 of my Fatebringer rolls for at least 2 years now, 1 regular and two Adepts. My absolute favorite roll is one of the Adept versions, with…

    Is it useless in endgame content? Absolutely. But in low/mid tier stuff, the build synergy is actually kinda nuts, especially with Void and Volatile Rounds

      I could totally see that. Personally, if I am going to do build synergy, i tend to stick with elemental primaries. So for handcannons, zoulis bane on solar (for incan), ancient gospel for void (naturally gains volatile rounds on void and prismatic, but aslo has destabilizing rounds), nation of beasts for arc (volt shot for ionic traces and ad clear), and a head stone hand cannon (a few options now for stasis)... the only one im not down for using is strand as I don't think any strand hand cannon currently posses top tier endgame perks yet. so in that case id prob use an osmosis fatebringer.

      Also as far as a Strand hand cannon, I’m sure you’re already well aware of Better Devils and all it has to offer, but I am curious as to what you mean by “top tier endgame perks”, cause it seems to be the most Strand hand cannon ever

      Yeah! I wouldn’t mind explaining why I don’t like better devils in pve.
      Realistically, for strand synergy, the go to would be hatchling and slice right? Well neither of those perks are exactly excellent. Slice performs better on other weapon frames, and hatchling simply is just worse than Incan, destabilizing, volt shot, head stone, and kinetic tremors. Really the only “strand synergy” benefit that means anything on better devils is the ease of making tangles so that you can shoot them or throw them.
      As for pure weapon performance, it’s not great. The most of the S tier hand cannons include explosive payload + either a damage perk or subclass synergy perk (a subclass perk that does damage while also working with subclass verbs. So slice doesn’t make the cut). Better devils doesn’t have that. If explosive payload was in the left hand column, then you would be able to roll it with tons of other damage perks. But sadly, explosive payload is in the same column as perks like frenzy or one for all.
      Your best options are likely demo/pugilist/reconstruction + explosive payload. are these combos bad? No, not at all. But in high end content, this gun is going to hit like a pea shooter. The amount of demo/puglist procs won’t be much, and reconstruction on a hand cannon, which you will be emptying consistently, won’t feel amazing. So these parks aren’t too crazy in the current sand box.
      This is a strand gun, so it automatically does 10% less damage than kinetics. Explosive payload will make this weapon essentially hit as hard as a kinetic hand cannon with no damage perk. I’d let this slide, as most players tend to do for guns like zoulis bane, if it could roll hatchling in the left hand column as it at least has something to with ad clear, even though it’s not amazing, but it’s not in that column.
      Sure, it does have one for all, but at that point, use a different strand weapons.
      This is just my opinion but I do think strand 140 rpm hand cannons don’t compete perk wise with the other elements or kinetics, nor do they compare to other strand primary types.
      But if you HAD to use a strand 140 rpm hand cannon, I’d prob go with a demo/puglist + explosive payload better devils… kept confidence is just not a good pve hand cannon so you are kinda stuck with better devils.

      It’s certainly a decent roll! I would recommend holding onto it man.
      I will warn you, explosive payload and rampage don’t stack. Rampage is the only damage perk to not stack. In fact, a x3 rampage midnight coup (33% damage) does more damage than a x3 rampage + explosive payload midnight coup (31% damage). It’s currently a bad bugged interaction.
      But I will say, explosive payload does make it easier to get that first kill or two to keep rampage rolling in most levels of content. I kept that roll for that exact reason.

      Midnight works at every level of the game! If you already have a midnight, don’t go for a fatebringer. I’d wait til they remaster the VoG weapons

      You are actually right! Midnight coup is a former 150 rpm handcannon, now 140 rpm. It is a light weight frame handcannon, unlike fatebrigner, meaning the reload and handling is actually superior to that of fatebringer. This is partially why I recommend midnight coup, as explosive payload makes up for less range, and one for all can be used for more damage, and you don’t need the reload boost of frenzy.

      and thats honestly not a bad thing! explosive firefly is solid for low and mid tier content, and tremors is better for end game. If you have a solid fatebringer for mid level content, and you have a tremors roll of the coup, then you are rocking it.

    Midnight coup handsdown better. It can get explosive kinetic tremors which is by far the best combo. Second it can get explosive one for all also much better than what fatebringer ever has to offer. Midnight coup also reloads so much faster.

      Yup. Pretty easy. id say explosive one for all is the better role as it supplies similar dps as kinetic tremors but on all targets. But in certain content, like contest mode or grandmaster content, kinetic tremors can go crazy on tons of encounters. Its good to have both.

    Kinetics are not even worth using on PVE. It builds soooo slow the transcendence dark meter

      I think it depends on the kinetic and the builds. Over all, things like area of denial GLs are way better at transcending, but certain kinetic weapons are really good in things like day one raids. I would not use a kinetic weapon on a solar, void, or arc builds. A lot of the subclass synergy comes from the weapons. Things like incandescent don’t matter much on prismatic.

    Im choosing midnight coup purely cause I can hop on and farm it any day solo vs having to find a raid team as a solo player 🥲
