Good morning everyone! The media drive finally happened for the all new Chevy Blazer EV RS. We were able to drive (2) different motor configurations and both are in this review. Let me know in the comments if you are digging this Blazer EV RS.
For me, Joe the price is a bit high, but I'm glad to see they are offering the different trims. Say, hear anything about the 2025 Equinox yet?
That will be coming next year (2024)@@chrisgelo1425
@RaitisRides Right on! As well as the 2025 Terrain I'm assuming.
That Chevy car is sick
Just missing super cruise!!
Chevy deserves some credit in making a great looking SUV EV. It's got to be one of the best designs offered from any of the commodity automotive manufacturers. I love how they give some depth and personality to the front grill fascia as well as a striking silhouette. Looks better than their Cadillac variant.
No frunk is definitely zonkable, on that we can certainly agree...however, the reason AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS prefer placing the rear wiper below is that they simply work better in this location and do not require extra development cost to place the wiper above the rear window...it's BLACK and y'all can hardly see it, don't get your fixation on this. Rather have any rear wiper than none at all, which seems to be a direction the industry is heading in. Otherwise keep up the awesome work bud! FYI my extra special xmas gift was a Mattel Intellivision in 1981. 😂
GM and Hyundai/Kia are the 2 commodity brands killing the EV designs. However, the drl will make the blazer look like a knockoff volvo, to people who don't know about car design at least.
Honda, Toyota, Ford, Nissan have to step up.
Lol did you just say it looks better then the cadallic.. Your kidding right lol
@@MrUser999999 even if you want good looking suvs /Mercedes/BMW all have ev.. You really think they look that good lol
@kaivalns don't really understand your comment. I said commodity brands, as in non premium brands. Bmw has some great looking suv's, I own an x3. Yes, I think the blazer and most new gm and kia/hyundai EVs look great. Are they a bit overpriced? Yes. I'm not a brand loyalist.
Also, I personally think mercedes ev design language looks awful.
Also, my next vehicle might be a cadillac lyric
I love the dashboard and infotainment setup. Looks way better than the screwed on IPAD look of the Model Y and Mach E
I think they should have created a hybrid, use the stamping from those pickups from the mid-sized pickups to offset the hybrid engine.
Aside from it being a BEV Joe, I like Chevy is offering. For me the price is a but high, but I'm glad to hear they're offering the LT model now. My favorite part is the interior. No wonder why the 2024 Traverse adopted this dashboard and the 2025 Tahoe and Suburban. Fingers crossed 🤞 the 2025 Equinox will follow in their footsteps.
P.S. Hope the first drive of the 2024 Traverse is soon!
I would also like to see the gas version of the Blazer adopt the new interior as well.
@taydru36 Epecially the Blazer Duh! How could I have forgot 😊
This design is beautiful.
Joe and Lori thank you for bringing me a Chevy fan some awesome content with this Blazer RS EV, I'm excited for the SS as well!
Seems like another overpriced vehicle
I think you might be on to something Tom!
Amazing review Joe.
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I only trust the AJAC of Canada thanks for sharing this video hello to Joe and Lori 😊, this ev is $62,000 cdn
you bet! Thanks for the conversion!
I'm confused by the pricing. You can buy a Cadillac LYRIQ luxury AWD for around 66K. The SS version is about the same money. The LYRIQ is built on the same platform. It's a great looking vehicle and it has a nicer interior. To each there own I guess. Cheers!!!
I guess you are paying for the extra HP from the SS
And if you don’t need AWD, Lyriq gets even better.
That color looks wild!
It really pops very welll!
J ~ I like it, Chevy is on top of its game. tony
One correction needed. The back floor is NOT completely flat. There is a raised section in the middle. It is not the carpet. I test drove one of these and it didn’t have a carpet in the back Pressed on it and it was solid. Not sure why it wasn’t completely flat.
Way to go Joe and Lori! Another great video!
Thanks Tom for being the best!
No shot with this. It's gonna take something special to pry me out of internal combustion. It's ok but nearly $70K for the top trim. I'll pass. Give me that color though
I like the color
I like the way that you think!
Some say it's mystic
It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie
You can't resist it
It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie
You can't do without it
It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie
Great review as usual!
Good video Joe can't wait to see it in person 😀
Another fantastic review, thank you. With no Android Auto/Crapple CarPlay... do you know if there's any way to play your music lists? I use TH-cam Music with several playlists... I wonder how I'd access them?🤔🤔
You just log in to your Google account and install TH-cam Music. I was concerned as well, but after we got one it really works almost like another Android device with all your stuff.
Yes, if you have TH-cam premium you can play all of your music on the RS
Its a nice looking Blazer but it needs better range, there is no excuse IMO why the one motor version can't get 400 miles range, the batteries are out there they just need to use them and it is a missed opportunity IMO. ------ Also totally agree there should be a Frunk especially on the rear motor model. Thanks Joe and Lori !
This is so very true!
I get why some don’t like artificial engine sounds pumped into the cabin of their vehicles. I would like to be able to manually turn the sounds off, make it louder, and choose the sound. Seems like something auto manufacturers could do.
Love the car. But would love to see the blooper reels for this video haha
If this Blazer were any shorter, it would be an official, full-on hatchback. 😂😮😅😂
Hell yes. I would really like american vehicles to become harder hitters considering hyundai and kia really have made bold progress. This vehicle looks wonderful, its distinct and unique, has all the features u would want
Ive been waiting for this review🙌
Love the Blazer EV, waiting on the Equinox EV to make it to dealers. And hopefully a review in the near future 👍
I love the plastic cover I feel like it looks good.
OMG lol
@@loriraiti4924 Yup
I actually had one on reserve but the no Apple Carplay is a deal breaker for me. I basically like everything about the car and the whole no frunk thing I think is way overblown but them essentially forcing you into a system that eventually you have to pay a subscription fee for made me change my mind & get a Mach-E instead.
I think you will not be the first to say that!
Get a Lyriq instead or Honda Prologue. GM design is way better than Ford
Always the best auto reviews. Thanks for mentioning there is no Apple airplay or Android Auto, not everyone is pointing out this major zunk!
Been waiting for this review and also waiting for the Equinox EV review. Also I think we are all unhappy with the price of the vehicle. It's overpriced. Thanks!
Is it just me, or are the wheel bases HUGE? There is such a large gap between the actual tire and wheel arc! Also, I like the D-pillar design, with the window running all the way through the back. Makes the roof appear to be 'floating." Cool design aspect.
Get ready to pay 50k on a new battery once your warranty expires 😂
Love the ride Joe but the lack of a front truck is 100 percent a zonk. You agree?
I do agree!
best reviewer I've seen!
Great review Joe. I just wish the manufacturers will put out how much it would cost to replace the batteries with these EV
I think thwy don't want to scare us with the high costs involved.
Modern temp controlled batteries with thermal mgt systems last a long time, similar to a gas engine. Plus theyre warrantied for at least 8 yrs. Overall longevity is not a concern
I can answer this one. I had a little accident in my ioniq 5. The car bottomed out on some uneven road. It destroyed the back motor which in turn shorted the battery. Turns out the battery alone is $48k+. That doesn’t include labor.
Do manufacturers advertise how much it costs to replace the engine or transmission at the time of purchase? I can't count on both my hands the # of people I know who have had to have a transmission replaced or engine even over the years. Some on vehicles outside the warranty period, and around 100,000 miles. That'll set you back nearly $10K also.
Thats a good point. But a motor or transmission will still only cost you 10k tops. Refurbished ones go for less. It might be still worth saving the car. A battery at 48k is just ridiculous.
Sorry Joe not feeling this one but good job covering it . I’d pick the mach e over this you can’t have Apple car play in this 😮
А Китайские автомобили будут ?
Help me understand how that tiny rear wiper is helpful
It's not, lol, it's so tiny. The view out the back glass is super limited as well.
At this cost it’s wiser to get the lyriq
I like the color on the new blazer
Nice job by Chevy...great looking car. The big problem I see with EVs is their cost. $60K. Hopefully new battery tech will allow them drive down the cost significantly. I realize that as it is currently priced it's probably reasonably competitive (although I still think it's a bit on the high side) but for most consumers $60K is just too damn expensive...a car like this needs to be around $40K vs $60K. I'm jussayin.....Maybe I'll just wait a couple of years and pick up a used one.
Looks good, not a vehicle I'd own, but it looks good.
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video real true and I love old blazer rs better look good and new blazer ev 💯
Thanks man for having our backs.
Joe, I wish you would have spent a bit more time going through infotainment in depth. Being that android auto/carplay are gone I'd like to know all the ins and outs like apps (if any), Google assistant, split screen multi-tasking etc. Maybe just one video dedicated to a in depth review since GM will have the same in a lot of vehicles. Anyway great video as always!
Stay tuned for more reviews with that Matti!
Nice looking car, but $20000 overpriced.
I must say that frunk is meh for daily use, if you have small groceries you probably stash them on the passenger seat anyway... But it would be super nice to have emergency tools there, something you need when you get flat tire or something. Storage should be there, small, rarely used, but still.
Nice car but the charging port door should’ve been put in the back. My opinion. Great vid as always Joe. 😊
I like the way that you think!
love the fact that the measurements aren't in liters or gallons. Instead its in Twinkie's boxes which I understand so much better! Kudos
I am glad that I can hit the right spot!
At the 3:45 mark if the video, the trim Joe is pointing out is already warped.
That color is hot
It really pops in the sun!
@@RaitisRides yes sir
I don't like the no frunk option.
Ford - Here is Bronco Raptor, wait for Bronco Raptor R.
Chevy - Let me find another way to murder the iconic name.
Ford named theirs Mustang!!
Every other outlet is saying the rear-wheel-drive model hit's 60 in 6 seconds, not 7 and handles better in addition to having nearly 50 miles more range.
Don't believe everything you hear Jeff.
How in a rear wheel drive car is there no frunk?
Is the best ❤❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I was excited for this when it was for $40k, at $60k I can't not ask why not get the Cadillac.
Yo
Morning brother!
Very nice car but kind of disappointed on not having apple CarPlay/ Android auto for that price range I would’ve expected them to add that feature AT LEAST! Do you guys know why they didn’t add it?
Yeah of course Joe and I'm will buy the EV.
Wow, Redline just posted their review, so I should’ve known this one was coming…
They have emgargos to make it fair for all the journalists
The lack of a fronk is a miss considering the huge front end. It’s so closely priced to the much better looking Cadillac LYRIQ, I would pick the Cadillac. I wish GM would make the cameras record the drive like Tesla.
At least in terms of design I'd say this is way better than the Mach-E.
I'd say the same. I drove a Mach-E, very nice front and interior considering it's been on sale for about 3 years. Not a fan of the rear on either though.
If the Blazer had a frunk (front trunk) and it were too small people would likely be complaining about it being virtually useless.
And that would be valid because it would be.
I'm saying that if they couldn't give us a right-sized frunk it's better that they have nothing at all.
I like it a little better but not by much, they both seem freaking awesome but the Mustang Mach E still shouldn’t have that name.
I don't understand the need for a front wheel drive electric vehicle. Electric motors are so small you can place one on each wheel as some manufacturers have done. Chevy should ditch the FWD option and keep it simple with just the RWD and AWD options. Pressing the brake is the on button for the vehicle. Anyways, I love my new Blazer EV AWD 2LT. The RWD model actually has more power than the AWD - I know, kinda weird.
Today is my birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉
Happy Birthday!
Thank you
Damn interior. Hands look small showing the infotainment screen. But no Andriod auto or Apple? Wow
That’s too much money for what you get.
it´s not bad.
Looks wise they did an awesome job with it!
So another EV by GM. It’ll be interesting to see how this ages in a year or two with the new batteries. If it goes well, good for them, finally. They’ve not had a great track record with EVs, but few have. This looks interesting. A different take on the interior, not horrible.
Oh and the no CarPlay or Android seems like a major zonk. Can’t imagine them having a product better than that. People want what they want though
Ford is Doing Everything Better than Chevy. 🤙🏽
Charging times at the station? That might be adeal breaker compared to other EVs that are performong excellent in that front.
Rather long wheel base. And the rear end is rather husky. I like it
Really like the looks, color and low roof line. Looks sharp, but very pricy yikes
It is pricey for sure!
how does your phone work without android auto or apple carplay?
That is a great question.
I'm more interested in the sister model, the Honda Prologue.
Well stay tuned for that one Tom!
It is a nice vehicle, but unless it is high, upright and boxy, stop calling them SUV's.
Great looking EV, but GM will lose big bucks on it, like other EV's.
Looks really good, but that $60k price, no thanks, it shouldn't be over $45k loaded,
*Mercedes lawyers reaching for the phone after seeing the vents..........*
Hoping for good independent review. Like listening to Chevy pr review their own vehicle. 55k for a base model, enough said.
Looks like a jelly bean
💯💯💯🙏🙏🙏
These prices on EVs are making impossible to buy them. By the way Tesla just dropped their prices on the model Y
Great looking car, the problem with all EV's are the battery packs and the pack breaking down over time. With a combustion engine, atleast you can piecemeal replacement parts. But with the packs it's an all-or-nothing sum game. Remember this people.
People like to be blind ive tried explaining, they will all eventually learn someway or another 😂
Wrong , most batteries last longer than best ice engines. Rarely batteries go bad under 10 years. My daughter has model s 2013 year , car still is like new,
I like it
I am so glad to hear Jose!
He says multiple times the Blazer EV is shorter than the ICE version, which is false. The Blazer EV is both longer overall lenthg and wheelbase. The Blazer EV is also wider than the ICE version.
Thanks for your great intel.
4 to 5 issues of Nintendo Power😂😂😂😂😂😂😊
The one thing I would be annoyed with EVs other than the recharging times is the whirring noise. I don't know how some people can deal with that especially when they get on the expressways.
Also, no one has done it yet (at least not from what I've seen), but no one has made a normal transmission gears in an EV. A single-speed reduction or 2-speed reduction transmission isn't ideal in my opinion.
If automakers are going to convince people to EVs, which is very few and far between, they need to be able to live up to the standards of their internal combustion engine counterparts, but ice will always and forever be tried and true technology that will never go away.
In the end, I am glad to see a couple of automakers work on a physical manual transmission in EVs. I'm still not sold on EVs and won't be for a great while, but manual transmission EVs could potentially get my interest when I feel comfortable and ready to make the switch, but only with the right automotive brand.
As for right now, I would take a gas+hybrid combo over a full EV; i.e., the upcoming Honda Prelude, which I watched from Kirk Kreifels saying that the new Prelude is likely be with a manual transmission. 👍🏽
The sound is put in for a purpose. It's so ppl around can hear the car at low speeds. Most EV's remove the sound when you hit 15-25 mph. Stellantis will be attempting to replicate a transmission with their EV. Their is no such thing as a manaul transmission EV. The switching of gears will be simulated by software.
Electric vehicles. Only lease them.
didnt GM say they cant sell EVs?
This car is based of my channel name!
That is neat!
The one in the Barbie movie was cool.
I don't like some of the design elements like all the circles., but mostly I greatly dislike all these low height low roof supposed "SUV" EVs. The promising highlight I had for SUV EVs is being able to have the normal high ride height while improving handling due to the battery weight lower the center of gravity. These low roof style CUVs sacrifice too much cargo space potential. This is the same or bigger dimensions as my Passport yet at least 20% less cargo space.
I guess it is going for better aero with the lower roof. On the inside thought it does not limit your passenger volume.
Is it time to give up on the "zonk" for exposed rear wipers? We get it, you don't like them
I am selective sometimes.
Big Zonk on the lack of front storage
Yeah that was a suprise.
For the same price you can get a base EV9, BMW I4, or Tesla. 🤔
This is very true! It is always nice to have options.
the pricing on these is ridiculous… more expensive across the board than a GV60, which is a true luxury car? GM fully baking in the tax credit because they think they can 🤯
Everything is so expensive
