It took me a long time to understand and follow the instructions to actually thread the machine in order. I kept breaking thread and I’d just rethread the broken thread. I no longer hate my serger, and I hope it no longer hates me.
Great introduction. I chose the Babylock vibrant to learn how to use a serger. I hope you add more to this topic with the different serger stitches and maybe some specialty serger feet that are common between most brands.
You're an awesome instructor! I purchased my serger 10 years ago... failed to thread it and put it away. I haven't unboxed it since then. But your tutorial helped me thread and start my first project! Thank you!
Your advice about the pins is so important and I will remember to not use pins. My new serger/ overlocker will be arriving tomorrow, I can't wait!!!!!! Brilliant video and thanks for posting, you gained a new subscriber!
I can finally learn how to use my serger without worrying about things I probably won't need for a few days with that thank you I am no longer frustrated
If the average cost of a serger is $300 (which is more than i paid for my 20 year old sewing machine) i'm out of my depth. If i were a professional seamstress i'd maybe take the plunge. It is nice, however, to finally understand the purpose of a serger. Thanks for your enlightening video. It's back to the zigzag feature on my sewing machine for me!
I watched a video on threading the 1034 D serger on youtube It was the best closeup view.Since than The 1034d is so easy go thread, so no one be afraid to serger. Its so fun
I hate my serger. I honestly dont feel like i can control it no matter what i try. I've watched a million videos and i get it in principle but i just dont seem to be able to control it to just sew straight. Using the seam guides are useless as you can't really line up the edge accurately as the machine is so fast even when you are going slow. I feel so much more control over using a sewing machine but the serger is just crazy and i want to be good at it 😢

Same! This was a huge source of frustration for me when I first started.
Mine is upper looper, lower looper, left needle, right needle. If I do it any other way, it will break. Every time.
My other tip is use a blue dental floss threader to thread the loopers!
I really enjoyed this presentation. I had no idea that I could swap threads on a serger without rethreading.
Glad it's helpful!
Thank you! I’ve got a Janome serger and am slowing getting past being afraid of it. 😂 I hope you’ll continue the series for us newbie sewers.
The whole series is in this playlist th-cam.com/play/PLSMi9yj9ru8bfho5z0NT5ZJFC1GuRbymP.html

I never saw the threading for the left and right needle by the knife before. Thank you for this series. I have the brother machine.
Hope this gets you stitching!
Thank you for sharing.. much needed information and you gave excellent demonstrations. ❤

So glad I found your video. I have had my machine for many years but never use it because I could never get the tension right.
Hope you can start using it now!

When you change color with the cone, do you push all the way down the plastic cone to keep the tread cone in place?
Yes
This is very helpful.thank you!😊
Thanks for watching!
Thank you, I always wanted to buy one, I think I will now.
Go for it!
Great, informative video. Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
As a guy wondering about sewing, this was very helpful to either me or maybe my daughter in the future
👍
❤ great tips.
Glad you think so!
She makes sewing with a SERGER seem much less complicated!
Thanks for watching!
I heard that lint gets into the air threader machines and can't preform air threading. I'll keep my brother 1034 regular serger
I've had my air threading machine for 9 years now and that hasn't been an issue for me.

Nothing wrong with using your zig zag - I only had 1 machine for many, many years of sewing.
Where did you get your plus size maniquin?

Your brother model is similar to my singer serger
Hope this series is helpful then!
I found one at a thift store for $70. I know I need it,but I need to learn to understand it. And now I need a new sewing machine 😢.😊
Hopefully this series helps you understand the serger.

Try making these - great for practice and it doesn't matter what size they turn out. th-cam.com/video/EQb-iQV07_Q/w-d-xo.html
