- As we move into the exciting future of WordPress and our favorite builder, Divi, we will have lots of new things to discuss related to the foundational changes and visual changes in Divi 5.0 and beyond. Divi 5.0 not only is a complete rebuild of the software, but also brings a refreshed builder interface. This will certainly come with mixed feelings. One of the reasons I think people loved Divi was its interface was better than all the other builders. Now this is all changing, for better or worse, and it will be wise to embrace it and learn as much as we can about using it efficiently. So in this tutorial, I will give you an overview of the new Divi 5 interface, point out the changes, and share some tips about using it.

Another great video, Nelson! I'm looking forward to the public beta.
Thank you, I don't know if I am or not 😆
@@PeeAyeCreative ha! I hear you 🙂
I don't know how you're staying so calm, Nelson. 🙃Too many changes! I'm gonna be lost in this new UI. Glad to hear that you plan to bring back the Divi colors in your plugin!
I'm only calm on the outside, inside I'm screaming because there's so much change for us 3rd party developers.
you can stay to the version you like
Loving your channel! thank you so much!!
You are welcome! I'm so glad you are enjoying our content!
Great video as always Nelson, thank you. Looks pretty cool to be honest (having played with the demo), a few things i'll need to get used to, but overall some of the new features are pretty good. I like the mobile toggle that auto selects the settings for that particular device, it just seems quicker and less confusing. Couldnt find the undo though haha. Thanks again Nelson, top job :)
Thank you! Yes I'm right with you, same sentiments. It will take some adjustment, and I'm sure it will all improve too. I do think the responsive options will be helpful especially for new users who got pretty confused before.
I haven't had time go play with their demo, so first off, thanks for making this video. I think I love the new change that will allow me to just pick a screen a size and edit that size without having to remember to change each individual setting to the specific screen size. But, it has me wondering how are some of these thing going to effect you. One of your plugins that I have automatically added to every new site I start in Local, has your plugin that already sort of does this. Have you been able to access the overlaps yet? Will we have to go back and uninstall the plugin or will it be updated to somehow work with the Divi 5?
Our Divi Responsive Helper does not do anything that the Divi 5 update is doing. Our plugins will all be updated for compatibility.
Bedankt
You're welcome, thank you so much! 🙂
Love your videos. I have a question though which isnt covered in any. I have a few designs created and I was thinking of maybe trying to sell some. My main question is, how does one add a control panel/licencing feature to a child theme???
I actually do not do this on mine so I couldn't comment on it, that would be something custom or something provided by a licensing system you would use to sell it.
I really wish they'd anchor the Text Module Menu on scroll. Seems like they never actually use Divi to publish content. Nice video, thanks!
Our tutorial and feature in Divi Assistant for that are still working on the new interface 👍
@@PeeAyeCreativewill your responsive helper still work? I’ve been using it to help with view port checks also will this mess up spacing and padding on existing sites?
As someone who played around with and used Webflow before moving solely to DIVI, this interface feels SO MUCH like the Webflow interface. ESPECIALLY the responsive way of editing items on its own breakpoint. I'm excited for this update and just love how much faster it seems to edit pages and content.
Thanks for sharing! So glad to hear you are excited for this change!
why did you move from webflow to divi? Is it possible to see some of your creations?
@@tristanco5493webflow is nice but it is a hosted platform and something I have not been able to get past. Otherwise fantastic.
I believe this new Divi 5 is going to be hard for a new beginners who’s looking to design their website it might be understandable for developers, but not for newbies based on how it looks it’s just not making any sense UI like elements are and the others seems a little bit easier to understand, but with Divi 5 it seems complicated. Specially, for a new person. What do you think?
I'm not sure. I do prefer the old UI, as I do think it is what set Divi apart from literally every other builder, and part of that was ease of use. I guess I don't see that much different overall. It's hard to say how it would be as a beginner since I am not.
I agree with you. I do not like the look. It looks scary to me.
Does Divi 5 have Flexbox like Elementor?
Divi 5 is a foundational code change and visual refresh, new features will come afterwards.
Hi, I have been following you for 2+ years.
I want to ask something maybe this is irrelevant to this video. My question is How do people mix the container with full-width row? I can see that type of layout everywhere row starts exactly where the normal container starts and ends with full width. Also, do the opposite starting from full-width row and ending like container. If I try to do it full of rows it becomes very difficult to handle it with left/right padding in various screens resolution.
I am not sure what you mean, sorry. You're welcome to send over an email with a screen recording.
@@PeeAyeCreative Thank you very much for replying. I am attaching imgur link may be this image can explain what I am saying. he is mixing container and full width. If it is not I will record video. i.imgur.com/qFtWq0x.jpeg
What will happen to your image helper? It is great, some of us depend on it :)
All Divi plugins from reputable developers will be updated and compatible with Divi 5 🙂
Is it ok to choose not to update to 5?
With any update, you can choose not to update. Obviously at some point you would need to, but I don't see any urgency except for getting support from Elegant Themes and plugin developers.
I am now looking at Elementor pro That’s gonna be the one I’m going to purchase.
Good luck!
I don't like it. Maybe it's time to leave Divi
If you enjoy hopping around to different builders, that's your choice. Each one rises and falls in cycles, so it's just a game at that point.
