  • This is my first r/c lawn mower. Everything on the mower i had on hand. The only thing I bought for it was the v-belt. I misspoke, I ment to say h-bridge motor controller. Did not have any money to buy one nor do I have the skill to build one. Works really well with the switches. I wish it was faster. If I find a better motor I'll replace it. The motor is 24 volts.

This is a great project. I like how you worked out the alternator and all the RC stuff. It just needs more fine control of the steering and it will be perfect

harshtimes23 have you ever seen a senior citizen try to use a tv remote? or progam a simple coffe maker? they wouldnt be able to safely operate a remote control mower.

@@johnpike9612 I’m surprised I didn’t see this comment. Hey moron who do you think invented RC controlling? Those senior citizens in the 70’s and 80’s. My dad showed me how to use my RC racer in the 80’s and he’s 78. Did you think RC remotes were made in the 2000’s? Idiot

Love it! Love the idea of the wiper motor for steering and welding a pulley to the flywheel to turn the alternator for battery charging. You can also use it for a roll around vehicle jump starter if your car or truck battery is dead. Lol great job.

The caution I would give is to leave the belt tension on the lose side. Because of the way the engine is oiled if you pull too hard you may accelerate bearing wear. This may also be why it's hard to get started.
Now for your next project maybe use the sensors and controller from a robot vacuum cleaner like a roomba, give it perimeters and let it roam around the yard as it wants, then you won't have to have the controller.
