My home town. I grew up there when it was a thriving community. It has a depressed economy due to the manufacturing leaving and going overseas. Textiles and Furniture were big in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. The small farms also went away. Great people and caring community. I wish you could have met some people and learned more about the town. It is a nice quiet town.
Great video ,you are on Salisbury Street running along the railroad tracks. North Main has great Grocery Store Lanier's.South Main Street has the Village Restaurant and we have the Company Cid further down the road. Denton was incorporated March 11, 1907 ,the railroad put us finally on the map.
Great video. One of your videos just happen to come up and it said ' im visiting every town in nc ' immediately i thought ill bet he didnt come to denton lol. So i looked up denton on your channel and next thing i know.. youre in denton lol. Ive lived here all my life.
Unfortunately, that's not the main business section. That is basically a side road tour. The main street has Troutman's Barbeque and the country store where people go in for hotdogs or ice cream and the shopping center with grocery store, pharmacy and dollar store. Basically u missed the heart of town for the side streets. My parents bought a house there when my dad retired from the Navy.
The was on Main Street of Denton . Salisbury Street where the Denton Town Hall is and the Denton Museum. Along with the beautiful Max Pickett Store and the Boutique. North Main Street and South Main Street is the heart of Denton. The beautiful South Davidson Resource Center where once was Griffis Clinic where so many of us Dentonians were born.
It was on that day for sure. Most people are buying from businesses out on the bypass I guess. I need to go by there again to see if things have picked up.
@@TimothyFrench I'm considering moving in with a buddy but holy shit, I'm in SoCal right now and I don't think I can live with never seeing multi billion dollar companies on every corner lol
@@patbaker153 it’s a great town. That’s for sure. I drove through there recently and it looked like the town was having a back to school festival for the kids.
What a shallow and un-informed visit to my home town. If you're going to walk and 'tour' a town, at least know a little about its history and its present....not just what is 'boarded up' and what is not. Sad commentary.
I love this video.
Love the downtown area. This is a beautiful walk through our beautiful Town.
Me and the art students painted the Trash Cans
That’s awesome. I bet the students loved being apart of your art project.
