First time watching and Papa is the sweetest soul I’ve come across, watching this takes me back to finding treasures at car boots sales as a young girl with my late Gramps. Love from England, stay safe in these uncertain times
Some old lady must have passed away and a relative gathered all her stuff and left it in self-storage units and forgot about it or passed away him or herself. It's a pity about the photos. Some people buy old photos.
this woman was a crafter. Or she wanted to be a crafter! That stuff is worth a lot, because crafting is an expensive business! Trust me, I'm a crafter, I know how much it cost!
That's the problem with specific units like this. The contents are worth a decent amount and to make worse, people will explain how much its also worth and say they will buy it. So you take the time to collect it, post it for sale, and then end up storing it for what seems like years taking up precious space because the people who told you how much its worth and how stupid you would be to throw it out, are also the same people who will say keep it so they can buy it are also the same people who never show up to buy all the expensive junk that now you have money invested in to it so you cant throw it out and are forced to sit on it till it sells. Then after a year of having it you sell it for less than the money you have invested in it just to get your space back. Lmfao its just a vicous cycle a lot of times the most expensive things are the hardest to sell and in reality are not worth the time it takes if its not a super common found in every household type item I am forced to just throw it out unless I have a buyer already lined up. It sucks and it mskes me sick to my stomach some of the items I throw out but if I kept them and tried to sell them I would go bankrupt. One of the biggest problems peopl have is forgeting time is money, its not just a saying.

you need to go through that "trash pile" with a fine toothed comb. probably $1500 in there. people like that will stash cash in any spot, just not in plain sight all the time. look behind every picture frame, in every sock, behind any box fillers, like the one you tossed when you saw it was empty, but did not look behind the box filler.
My god I would have freaked out over finding that much brand new branded embroidery thread. Can never have enough variety of colors. And yes those are realistic prices on those embroidery software, especially the Digitizing one. That stuff is expensive, and if it can still be used (if the product keys aren't used/invalid) you've got an easy bit of profit right there.
The disk he threw out before finding those looked like they belong to computerized embroidery machines. As did the starter kits her tossed. He could have gotten money for those even if used. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
My OCD is killing me! Lol. You need some organization when you go through these units! Lol. Pretty awesome finds! These units were definitely worth your money!
This was very entertaining to watch but i have to admit - it broke my heart when I saw the valentine cards that were obviously special to their owner and had been saved for years & years. 💔😞
Laura Johnson I just couldn’t do it. I’m 100% positive I’d go on a personal crusade in search of the original locker renter and I’d make it my mission in life to return those sentimental things. I’d never be able to sleep at night if I didn’t. I’m a very sentimental person myself so seeing those items so randomly & casually tossed away just made me sick to my stomach. As we watched, my husband actually leaned forward to see if I had tears running down my cheeks a couple times... (which I refuse to say either way! 😳) He KNOWS, lol. I’m the worst! 💔
@@Miss_Maggie I'm so sorry. Trust me when I say this, I never intend to hurt anyone's feelings...nor pay any disrespect. In this line of work, you do become a little separated from sentiment. Just to ease your feelers a little, I want you to know that I do make it a point to return personal belongings when they request that I do. In this case, the owner had passed, and the immediate family didn't want the storage unit.
I was curious about the photos too. Thank you for posting. My aunt fell on hard times and her storage unit sold along with precious photos of our family that can't be replaced. I'd attempt to reunite the pictures too. Thank you for posting.
Maybe you could hold on to the photos in case some family comes back for them not knowing their grandmother owned a storage ? Maybe just for a little while? That happened to me, I lost everything into storage when an ex stopped paying his half of the bill and didn’t tell me about it. Lost tons of my childhood items and it crushed me. Cool find though!!! 👏🏼😄
That empty ring box was kicking BOTH of your asses! lol Oh lord am I bored, watching these videos.... I'm giving a 'THUMB UP' for the laughs! Thanks guys!
I agree with you - very sad. The saddest thing to me was how callously he threw aside the photos - right into the trash pile. Did this woman not have a family?! Those photos have more true "value" - they are priceless - than everything else in there - at least to someone... For all the scrounging they were doing neither of them thought to look through the photos - which could very well have contained money also. 😮 There is nothing wrong with acquiring a storage unit n selling to make a profit. But, if there are family pictures why not, at the very least, put a bit of effort into finding the person or family member - if deceased - to return them to. The storage companies are not bound to privacy laws, n if all else fails, the police department could assist. Personally, I wonder how some people can sleep at night... What I really wonder is, what happened to the woman? Did she pass away? Or was she just not able to pay storage fees? I just came upon this video n it happens to be part "2."
@Natalie Nunez I am so terribly sorry for your losses. I do so understand, because the same - similar - thing happened to us, sadly, MORE than once... Hard times happen n occasionally one can recoup fast enough to salvage a semblance of their life/livelihood, but for many not so...😭 I just happen to be the latter...on more than one occasion - over the years. Many a memories from photos to birth certificates/records - hospital ones with my children's itty bitty feet prints; irreplaceable, as well as absolute valuables - a rather lengthy list containing collectables, collections, n sentimental items, gone - in the blink of an eye. It is haunting just how much of the belongings we have lost crosses my mind n constantly humbles me n makes me choke up at the thought of this type of thing happening to others... Most of us realize for the most part it's just stuff...but to us it is our story, our mementos of our lives, part of our legacy - especially, prized possessions from loved ones lost. I am glad to hear that you n yours are doing financially better n hope your good fortune continues. ✌
Yes I felt that too. Especially the photo. I'd hate to think someone would toss my stuff like that and all those valentine's cards she was obviously well loved
Really really makes me sad watching this. cuz I have stuff in storage myself for the last eight years nine years and here in Arizona is just too hot to go through and I don't have a vehicle to put stuff in from the storage and this is just makes me so sad them going through all that personal stop!!!
Our last move I was recovering from four surgeries. We had low bank account (thanks Obama) and barely made it! Someone stole my jewelry, so much “stuff”…..I didn’t even realize for two years! I didn’t feel like unpacking! What did I learn? It’s all just stuff! Be grateful for what you have today! Go out and make new memories! Don’t sit and grieve over old pictures and grandpa’s shirt! He wouldn’t want you to! Thank God for what you do have every morning and every night! Your life will get better and better! I promise! 🙏❤️😂 Namaste These people meant no harm. They were excited to buy the contents of a storage unit! It’s like an egg hunt! They were just having fun! “Two men looked from prison bars. One saw mud, the other saw stars.”
He is he is driving me nuts taking those Valentine's out of their envelopes and throw them on top of the dresser you need to keep the original Valentines in there original envelopes....Dude !!! He's driving me nuts !! Just like a man to just rummage through everything so fast like that throwing it on the floor. Okay I'm done complaining now...lol 😊

Those stamps would be collector stamps!!! All it is is about the money, when there are so many vintage and antique and amazing finds that you’re just throwing away.
She must have been a rural carrier for the postal service, I typically pay the customer's postage dues in the morning when signing for the accountable mail and leave the brown envelopes for the customer to pay me back.
If she was a carrier, the postage due was from her delivery route - people paying what they owed to the post office when mail delivered to them was short of postage. That's probably money she should have turned in to the post office and didn't.
Sue O. Actually, my husband is a mail carrier. When postage is due, the mail carrier pays it. Then they leave the envelopes hoping people will pay it back...So the money actually belongs to the mail carrier...
I’m a mail carrier and we do not pay postage due unless it’s like $1 or less. We will attempt to collect the money from the customer. If we are unable to collect it, will leave a notice for the item to be picked up from the post office.
If I bought a storage unit and saw grandma's items, I would try to contact the family FIRST. I would charge a fee to get back the cost of recovery and maybe a little more and give all the items to her family. I think if it was my grandmother's items how she would feel. I am not saying you guys are doing anything wrong. I am just saying what I would do. A daughter or grandaughter might treasure their loved one's things.
Oh Lord. Thank you so much for your comment. I cried when I read it. I would do exactly as you stated. Would you be my friend? You sound like the type of person that is in such sort supply these days. I lost my mom when she was only 57 - years back.😭😭😭 Nothing would have tickled me more than to have had some pieces of her... I did manage to get a small shoebox of photos, but she was so much more than pictures. Her most prized possessions were her Pearl red accordion n Homer double-sided bow harmonica (both from Germany), n her Elvis record collection - rather robust one, including 45s.😮😑 Although, those things were so much of who n what she was, it was her drawings that I would have cherished more than anything of hers. They were priceless - absolutely irreplaceable. Again, thank you for your comment, n renewing my faith...just a little bit. ✌
If you watch the 1st video in this series, the units went up for auction after the company contacted family. They said no thanks, auction it. Sad that no one else was interested.
I bet all that loose change added up to a good total. I would check it all for silver (pre 1965), judging on how old the cards and stamps are. Stamps are always useful. You will make a sweet profit on that unit.

I like how when you got to going through the blue zip bank bag pawpaw just started saying, "stamps" with his hand out.
LoOoOoOoL
Well your dad/grandpa is absolutely adorable, I needed that smile.
Ludmila Kotovski
Yeah, I would have been a little more respectful instead of just throwing stuff on the floor
Amen to both of y'all's statements. Glad to know there still exists some compassionate folks left.

You know people can come up with some pretty clever ways of hiding money that means you have to come up with some pretty clever ways of looking for it
this woman was a crafter. Or she wanted to be a crafter! That stuff is worth a lot, because crafting is an expensive business! Trust me, I'm a crafter, I know how much it cost!
Hi hun yes I know what you mean iam a crafter too
That's the problem with specific units like this. One of the biggest problems peopl have is forgeting time is money, its not just a saying.
id like some thread any left ?
S D McDaniel looks like someone had an embroidery business or sewing with all the serger thread, beads, etc.
S D McDaniel postage to mail finished projects and priority stickers to go on the packages.
You should have me there! I can identify 90% of the sewing and craft items in today’s video! Loads of treasure there.
Your Dad is adorable !! Thank you for sharing !!💜🙏
I must definitely be a hoarder. There are things you said was “trash” that I would have kept and could have used. Lol.
Word
If you could have used the things, you're not hoarding, are u?
I learned about dumpster diving a couple years ago and the things and I have found are amazing now I have started in eBay store selling things just around the house and such and donating a lot of the stuff that I find if it wasn't for my daughter's intervening I will definitely become a hoarder lol...

you need to go through that "trash pile" with a fine toothed comb. probably $1500 in there.
people like that will stash cash in any spot, just not in plain sight all the time. look behind every picture frame, in every sock, behind any box fillers, like the one you tossed when you saw it was empty, but did not look behind the box filler.
I have a feeling he is throwing hard cash away. Not thorough enough.
Tell your dad he did a fine job filming.
So much fun watching you find all those treasures with your pawpaw...👍🌷
Oh all the sewing materials! I'm hyperventilating! 😂
Me too!
True
The disk he threw out before finding those looked like they belong to computerized embroidery machines. As did the starter kits her tossed. He could have gotten money for those even if used. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
My OCD is killing me! Lol. You need some organization when you go through these units! Lol. Pretty awesome finds! These units were definitely worth your money!
This was very entertaining to watch but i have to admit - it broke my heart when I saw the valentine cards that were obviously special to their owner and had been saved for years & years.
💔😞
He also found a pack of photos and tossed them towards the trash pile.
He KNOWS, lol.
I’m the worst!
💔
Exactly Harry. I usually give all photos and personal items back if requested, but they didn't want it.
So cute with the red box, lol and your dad reminds me of my grandpa. 🥰
He's my grandpa too. We have alike grandpas!
People that do collage art often buy vintage photos, too.
Everytime he says stamps it melts my heart my grandma loved stamps I got he stamp book when she passed
Grandpa is putting the stuff on the trash pile, puts cash back where he found it, grandpa is driving me crazy.

That's the way my mom talks to me...but theres some special love behind their actions
I'm a crafter and I'm in love with this unit
Your pops is like Red Forman from that 70s show, you can tell he loves ya but he’ll call you dumbass when he thinks ya need it lmfao
So sad that this was someone's life.
There is nothing wrong with acquiring a storage unit n selling to make a profit.
Got to say your grandpa still look strong and happy doing stuff like this..well hope for his health n keep enjoy the day he have.

Those stamps would be collector stamps!!! All it is is about the money, when there are so many vintage and antique and amazing finds that you’re just throwing away.
You should have kept those 23-cent envelopes sealed and sold them. They were probably worth more sealed and with those old envelopes included.

@@karihendrickson9071 Did not know that. Thanks for the info!
Sue O. Welcome! Most people don’t know that.. I didn’t even until almost a year after he started 😆
I’m a mail carrier and we do not pay postage due unless it’s like $1 or less. We will attempt to collect the money from the customer. If we are unable to collect it, will leave a notice for the item to be picked up from the post office.

I'm liking this. Enjoy your dad and let him know it. Modern day treasure hunters. Now that is an adventure.
Haha I like the old man. He's so happy getting those stamps. Reminds me of my dad. Always had old stamps lying around
Her most prized possessions were her Pearl red accordion n Homer double-sided bow harmonica (both from Germany), n her Elvis record collection - rather robust one, including 45s.😮😑
Although, those things were so much of who n what she was, it was her drawings that I would have cherished more than anything of hers. They were priceless - absolutely irreplaceable.
Again, thank you for your comment, n renewing my faith...just a little bit.
