Watch this again in 10 years when you may have the life experience to appreciate it. I hope you never really do, but life has a way of maturing us all through the fires of fate.
Stages of watching Hi Ren: This looks creepy Guitar sounds nice Oh he’s singing Will the whole song be like this? Here’s the beat Ok he’s rapping now This guy is scary Now he seems nice Oh I see what he’s doing This is interesting This is intense The mean guy is a jerk This is INTENSE Make it stop I haven’t blinked or taken a breath in 2 minutes Go Ren! YES! OOO-OO-OO-OO-OO-.. I need some time to be still…
This is a song for Ren and for the millions of us that suffer with mental illness, there's nothing to be afraid of, like he said we are all human beings, but some of us are built different, have chemical imbalances or trauma's that we cannot deal with, it's this type of song that can bring us together, for those who don't understand but are open minded enough to listen, to learn, so we can grow together, so that stigma that still exists can one day be a thing of the past and we can love each other for who we are and help each other along in our quest for a better life
This hits straight to my core because it describes my struggles so accurately. Not everyone gets it because they have never experienced the war within to extreme some of us have. For years I struggled with suicidal ideation on a daily basis, wanting to leave the world quietly so I wouldn't hurt people around me and I told No One. I carried it alone. I was wrong, there were people all around me going through their own struggle. The whole point is some will not get it but there are many of us who do. I'm sorry you had to go through it but I am happy for the people who have not. At this point in my life I firmly believe the struggle made me stronger.
Don't be gutted. Be happy for the person that this is not a struggle they've had! (But yes I know what you mean, as someone in that boat, seeing someone who obviously has not had that... there's a little moment of the 'loss' of a camaraderie that never existed in the first place.)
My first impression of Amy was - just a clueless little brat. But I guess that's too harsh - clueless is not a choice and maybe she'll experience empathy at one time in her life.
he was glued to his bed for almost 10 years because he had Lyme disease, the problem was that for almost 8-9 years this wasnt diagnosed. He was misdiagnosed with Bipolar, Anxiety, depression etc. So medications made him more sick. The Lyme disease finally got diagnosed after 8 years by a specialist. Because of the Lyme disease he was allergic to about 95% of food, so all he ate was meat and some veggies. During his sickness he got a stress induced psychosis. He finally got a stemcell transplant that made him better, but that was before the Lyme disease was noticed. Luckily today he has been in Canada for the better half of a year to undergo treatment by a Lyme disease specialist to become as healthy as his can despite of his body being destroyed by this for nearly a decade. He missed out on being a young adult, trying to see what life would bring him in the twenties, missing parties, new years etc. He actually at one point resigned to the fact that he probably would live to see his thirties because of all this. (this was before he finally got the proper help). He just turned 33 in March. Like he said, he doesnt care if he only gets 80% well, as long as he can outlive his dream which is making music, then he is okay with that.
The song structure itself is incredible. It starts off as a battle between his positive (Angel) and negative (Demon) aspects, the negative makes an overpowering last ditch effort to reign supreme, but ultimately fails as the final act, being the "God" aspect, emerges Triumphant, illustrated in his singing at the end. "...from the top of my lungs". It's a powerful great piece of performance art that gives "broken" people HOPE. It's a beautiful masterpiece. Ren is special.
Be careful how high you build the walls, you can't experience the richness of life if you don't let it in occassionally. Ren's artistic interpretation was nothing compared to the reall hell and fear experienced by those going through the sort of mental health issues he is exploring. It is hard to be empathetic and treat people who are suffering with compassion and love if you totally block out their world.
Well said. The only thing I would point out is that Ren has in fact experienced first hand "the real hell and fear experienced by those going through the sort of mental health issues he is exploring." Ren even addresses some of his mental health issues dating back to his early childhood.
He isn't "exploring" them, he lived through them every bit. You can read a short paragraph about what he went through in a comment that Ren made on the original video of this song.
@@sharathkumar8422 I know Ren's history, I have seen him play with the Big Push in Brighton over the last few years. Nice of you to pick out one word of my post, but musical themes and ideas can be 'explored', writers and musicians do it all the time, it doesn't mean that they don't have first hand knowledge and experience'
@@kevins2961 I understood what you meant, just seems like they decided to nitpick due to their own misinterpretations. Happens a lot with "fans". You had a powerful observation and added good insight to the reaction and you didn't overstep any boundaries. I hope you have an amazing weekend!
@@sharathkumar8422 for clarity, the initial comment quite clearly had nothing to do with Ren and what he went through if you take it all in context. It was a comment about empathy, and how the real life victims of these pains (including Ren himself) cannot be understood by those who think that the artistic interpretation (and it IS artistic interpretation, even if it is an interpretation of his real life circumstances) is "too scary" to look further into. That our stories are, by and large, bigger and more "scary" than a video and song depicting them. It implies literally nothing else. If he isn't exploring his own mental health issues in this song, then what is he doing? How do you think he came up with the lyrics to put his thoughts and feelings into tangible form, if he didn't explore the depths of them to find his own message in them? Exploration is crucial to understanding. It's often a part of therapy itself, in that term - exploration. There is no reason to "point out" that Ren has experienced these things, because the implication that he wasn't knowledgeable isn't there. Take a breath, and with the rest of the context it becomes clear that "Ren's interpretation" refers ONLY to the song - an interpretation of the world as Ren himself sees it - and is not inherently implying that Ren isn't among those going through these mental health issues. They're not mutually exclusive. There's no need to imagine some kind of slight that wasn't written into the words.
[Intro] Ooooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh Ooooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh [Verse 1] Hi there Ren It's been a little while Did you miss me? You thought you’d buried me, didn't you? Risky… 'Cause I always come back Deep down you know that Deep down you know I'm always in periphery Ren, aren't you pleased to see me? It's been weeks since we spoke, bro, I know you need me You’re the sheep, I'm the shepherd Not your place to lead me Not your place to be biting off the hand that feeds me Hi Ren, I’ve been taking some time to be distant I’ve been taking some time to be still I've been taking some time to be by myself since my therapist told me I'm ill And I've been making some progress lately, and I've learnt some new coping skills So I haven't really needed you much, man I think we need to just step back and chill Ren, you sound more insane than I do You think that those doctors are really there to guide you? Been through this a million times Your civilian mind is so perfect at always being lied to Okay, take another pill, boy! Drown yourself in the sound of white noise Follow this ten-step program, rejoice! All your problems will be gone! Fucking dumb boy Nah, mate, this time it's different man, trust me I feel like things might be falling in place And my music's been kinda doing bits too Like I actually might do something great And when I'm gone, maybe I'll be remembered For doing something special with myself That's why I don't think that we should talk, man 'Cause when you're with me, it never seems to help You think that you can amputate me? I am you, you are me, you are I, I am we We are one, split in two, that makes one, so you see: You got to kill you if you wanna kill me I'm not left over dinner, I’m not scraps on the side Oh, your music is thriving? Delusional guy! Where's your top ten hit? Where's your interview with Oprah? Where are your Grammy's Ren? Nowhere! Yeah, but, my music's not commercial like that I never chased numbers, statistics or stats I never write hooks for the radio They never even play me, so why would I concern myself with that? But my music is really connecting And the people who find it respect it And for me, that's enough ‘Cause this life's been tough so it gives me a purpose I can rest in Man, you sound so pretentious! Ren, your music is so self-centered No one wants to hear another song about how much you hate yourself, trust me You should be so lucky, having me inside you to guide you, remind you to manage expectations Provide you perspective, that thing you neglected, I get it You wanna be a big deal, next Jimi Hendrix? Forget it Man, it's not like that Man, it's just like that, I'm inside you, you twat! No, it's not, man you're wrong, when I write I belong Let me break the fourth wall by acknowledging this song: Ren sits down, has a stroke of genius He wants to write a song that was not done previous A battle with his subconscious, Eminem did it Played on guitar? Plan B did it! Man you're not original, you criminal, rip-off artist The pinnacle of your success is stealing other people's material Ren, mate, we've heard it all before Oh, "She sells seashells on the sea shore" Fuck you! I don't need you, I don't need to hear this 'Cause I'm fine by myself, I'm a genius! And I will be great, and I will make waves, and I'll shake up the whole world beneath us That's right, speak your truth! Your fucking god complex leaks out of you It's refreshing to actually hear you say it! Instead of downplay it “Ugh, music is all about the creative process and if people can find something to relate to within that, then that's just a bonus” Fuck you! I'ma fucking kill you, Ren Well, fucking kill me, then! Let's fucking have you, Ren I'ma do it, watch me prove it, who are you to doubt my music? ‘Cause I call the shots, I choose if you die Yeah, I call the shots and so I choose who survives I'll tie you up in knots when I lock you inside [Bridge] News flash I was created at the dawn of creation I am temptation I am the snake in Eden I am the reason for treason Beheading all kings, I am sin with no rhyme or reason Sun of the morning, Lucifer, Antichrist Father of lies, Mestophales Truth in a blender, deceitful pretender The banished avenger, the righteous surrender When standing in front of my solar eclipse My name, it is stitched to your lips, so you see I won't bow to the will of a mortal, feeble and normal You wanna kill me? I'm eternal, immortal I live in every decision that catalysed chaos That causes division I live inside death, the beginning of ends I am you, you are me, I am you, Ren! [Verse 2] Hi Ren, I’ve been taking some time to be distant I’ve been taking some time to be still I’ve been taking some time to be by myself and I've spent half my life ill But just as sure as the tide starts turning Just as sure as the night has dawn Just as sure as the rainfall soon runs dry when you stand in an eye of a storm I was made to be tested and twisted I was made to be broken and beat I was made by His hand, it's all part of His plan that I stand on my own two feet And you know me, my will is eternal And you know me, you've met me before Face to face with a beast, I will rise from the east, and I'll settle on the ocean floor And I go by many names also Some people know me as hope Some people know me as the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope And you know how I know that I'll prosper? 'Cause I stand here beside you today I have stood in the flames that cremated my brain and I didn't once flinch or shake So cower at the man I've become When I sing from the top of my lungs That I won't retire, I'll stand in your fire Inspire the meek to be strong And when I am gone, I will rise In the music that I left behind Ferocious, persistent, immortal like you We’re a coin with two different sides [Outro] Ooooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh Ooooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh... [Spoken Outro] When I was seventeen years old, I shouted out into an empty room, into a blank canvas that I would defeat the forces of evil And for the next ten years of my life I suffered the consequences... With autoimmunity illness, and psychosis As I got older, I realized there were no real winners and there were no real losers in psychological warfare But there were victims and there were students It wasn’t David versus Goliath, it was a pendulum Eternally swaying from the dark to the light And the more intensely that the light shone, the darker the shadow it casts It was never really a battle for me to win, it was an eternal dance And like a dance, the more rigid I became, the harder it got The more I cursed my clumsy footsteps, the more I struggled So I got older And I learned to relax, and I learned to soften, and that dance got easier It is this eternal dance that separates human beings from angels, from demons, from gods And I must not forget, we must not forget, that we are human beings
You can play his videos free no copyright, do not reverse them, or anything to them. And if you missed it, like everyone else, on the back of the wheelchair is something to look up - LD50
Thanks for pointing that out. I have only come across one other commenter who mentioned LD50. I will let people look it up themself, rather than spoil it for them.
You should check out "Chalk Outlines" live by him and Chinchilla. The lights only flicker once at the beginning but I think you will appreciate their voices in this one
Ren is the remedy for most (but not all) human beings.. He has no pigeon hole to be put in. He spans all genres and no two songs of his are alike. I loved your scaredy cat reaction though.. You tortured yourself but I could see the admiration for what Ren was doing. So that got you through it
@@Covaids Perhaps if those lost souls get anointed by experiencing "Hi Ren." there is a subliminal seed planted in their subconscious that sprouts out like a vine, rerouting their synapses 🤔😉
This reaction kind of rubbed me the wrong way to be honest. It's sad to see an artist pouring his heart out about something very real that he is going through only to have some lady on the internet rant on about how creepy it is and totally miss the message. Maybe I'm taking it the wrong way, but it just came off as disrespectful.
I think this is a perfect introduction for anyone who doesn't think they have any inner issues, in truth we all have and Ren , in a truly genius way, lets us into his world and perhaps helps many appreciate how lucky there are! I am a totally soul music man and have been all my life, but this is beyond soul and possibly the most interesting piece of music/drama I have ever heard, gave me a similar impact when I first heard Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen back in the early 70's , but Ren has I believed changed my views on mental health forever! I loved the concentration on your face during the majority of the song. Good luck with your channel.
brief bio -- as noted, Ren contracted Lyme disease, was misdiagnosed as bi-polar, given psychotropic meds that fed his psychosis.......he is still in treatment.....
💗💗💗 so proud of you making it through the video, you were very brave! And it was rewarding, wasn't it? What a great message! Hope you'll continue your Ren journey, most genius and rewarding artist I discovered in a long time... Ren has been through a lot, and his pain and suffering are reflected in some of his songs, but not all. Until you got to know him better and learned to trust him (he really is such a sweet soul...) you should avoid only a few songs because they might scare the hell out of you, foremost 'The Tale Of Jenny and Screetch/Violet" and "Sick Boi", and two songs he did with an artist named Chinchilla, 'How To Be Me' and 'Chalk Outlines', those four might trigger your anxiety, but I'd say the rest is safe, and there's a lot of great music and lyricism and vocals to discover... For example try "Love Music part 3', great vibe! And still, after you're more experienced I highly recommend to get into those four songs I mentioned, they are somewhat dark, but great musical masterworks, and darkness is a part of life as much as the light is, we cannot and should not try to avoid it and face it, that will allow us to grow and get stronger, so just pick other ones for the beginning of your journey, after you learned to love Ren for being the great human and artist he is, love will carry you through... - Peace and love from Bavaria!
So I've watched dozens--possibly hundreds--of reaction to "Hi Ren" now (there's quite a number of folk in the same boat; it's that sort of song!) and you're the only reactor who comes to mind who laughed/grinned at the "I'm inside you, you twat" line, which always struck me as a funny line, too. And yes, that *is* my major takeaway from this vid 😀 Also, if you do decide to dip into Ren again, but with something that's not even slightly creepy (or even mildly depressing), I recommend "1990s". It is *very* different.
This was an enjoyable reaction. “Hi Ren" is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered more than 6 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than ten years. Ren’s music videos are generally recorded live, often in a single take, although not necessarily the first take, and from various camera angles. His release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." Many of Ren’s songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day. Ren plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. He is considered by many a modern bard; he calls his music “bardcore.” Ren’s earliest recordings on TH-cam are from his time in a band called “Trick The Fox,” consisting of Ren and his buddies Charlie and Tommy. Unfortunately, the band performed only briefly due to Ren’s onset of health issues. They are very talented. A fun clip to watch is “The Mash Up.” Ren’s trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy and is a prime example of his genius; it is a master’s class in storytelling and also showcases his guitar skills. The three acts are haunting, and the conclusion will catch you off guard. The trilogy needs to be watched in the order given, as this is the flow of the storyline and is best watched as a whole rather than piecemeal. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me,” “Sexual Healing,” “One Dance/Drunk in Love”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” and his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake).” As I recently discovered, Ren also recorded a cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover),” that is simply beautiful. Then there are his performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the moon/No Diggity”), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”), which are all great. "The Big Push" busking sessions, concerts, and live recordings all are awesome and well worth checking out. Their covers of "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop," "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard," "An Englishman in New York," “Bongo Bong,” “War Pigs,” the songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," "Watch Out," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive. In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next six months that he expects to be gone. He released “Sick Boi” and “Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake),” which is another masterful work. Ren has hinted that he might release his newest song on March 29, which is his birthday.
I enjoy seeing youtubers getting their minds blown with musical art. I have watched and listened to a couple hundred HI REN reactions and look out for newer youtubers, and you got a new subscriber in me. Keep doing what ya doin. my connection to this song is only the similarity of struggle,, i'm undiagnosed autistic and have struggled with being a bit weird my whole life i had to start my own business because i had problems holding a job with sleep disorders and high ethics.. but managed to stay in business the last 40 years without needing to advertise or even carry a card, i run a lawn and tree service, a 1st responder thru 40 years of hurricanes in fla ,and do all phases of construction and kind of an inventor on the side, after six years of development i figured out a disaster response product that could help millions worldwide .. then my insurance agent forgot to post a payment back in 2020 and the state took everything i worked the last 40 years for away .. stuck at home like a prisoner i came online and saw people helping others so i started making videos explaining what i was. trying to do to get help, and found out if the platform your uploading to doesn't promote you your just talking to your phone, and then i see stuff like this and get jealous because i will never write a song that gets peoples attn like this. so my chances of bringing my ideas to the world are fading. and it's scary as hell to think of all that could be, but it may all be lost because one person forgot to hit enter on there keyboard.. and my chances of succeeding alone are close to those of getting out of quicksand alone..
For someone who is scared of everything she handled this song pretty well. Most reactions I’ve seen have brought grown men and women (some in their 50s) to tears
That's me. I honestly don't know how anyone can watch the first half and smile just seeing the pain in his face when he's fighting his bad side makes me tear up everytime I've listened to it and I'm a 35 year old bloke.
@@d1specdrifter I tend to stay clear of the sappy and sentimental videos. They usually come off really cliche' and obvious. But this one isn't like that, and it seems to be hitting home with a wide variety of people. I enjoy watching the reaction videos too. They begin saying, "This is weird." Then within a minute or two their eyes light up and they really listen.
Thx for reacting! Pls watch more of Ren - check out some of his ‘other’ music you will like! Check out, bongo bong, patience, losing it (catchy!) and his music with his band (The Big Push) on the streets busking … try “ I shot the Sheriff/road to Zion/hip-hop “!! He made a lot of very intentional decisions in this music video that when you go back, you can pick up on… For example, whenever he is bad Ren, that is when the lights start to flash, and when he is good Ren the lights are normal 🤓. He also differentiates the two sides with the type of guitar playing, the volume, the way he speaks, and even the direction he turns his head. 🙃
10 Demerits for recording this in 'mirror mode,' but follow up with other Ren work's, 'Sick Boi' is almost a follow on that deals with his medical misdiagnosis and medical harm, and 'The Tale of Jenny & Screech' is simply an epic trilogy, note in all his videos his videographers talent and that they do movement through a location as a one shot one take.
i feel you so much with the being afraid of everything i swear everything and anything makes me scared bruh i was also scared when i first heard this😂😭
If you really want to step into a different world with Ren, give "The Tale of Jenny and Screech(full)" a reaction. Rens ability to paint a picture in your mind is amazing.
This filter is freaking me out after watching so many reactions to this video. Ren fully supports creators/reactors monetizing his song. Working on tearing down that money game. Great reaction.
Hi Amy, I'd recommend you forward 'Hi Ren' to all your college & or Uni mates as well as asking parents, grandparents & other family members to watch it to get a fuller perspective on it. Ren actualy has a growing following of much older fans who can directly relate to his pwrsonal experiences.
Watches Ren and goes off about light bulbs, mentions mental health in passing and completely misses the whole point of the song. This reactor has the depth of a puddle
Was disappointed that a part of the totality of her reaction was "it was creepy not my cup of tea". Though, it is good to see the other side of the spectrum when someone reacts like this to basically an masterpiece of artistic and emotional expression. Helps solidify how impactful the song is in the first place when you start to think of how you'd justify and defend its impact to someone to whom it didn't resonate with.
Girl you creep me out, you are now the new girl of my nightmares. Ren is awesome will listen to his music to calm me down before sleeping and hopefully you will not enter my mind when I sleep.
I think your fear hang up made you miss the whole point. Perhaps your inner voice is always telling you that you need to be afraid and it blocks you. Sorry that you missed the brilliance.
I'd Recommend Ren & Chinchilla CHALK OUTLINE next .then ,Jenny screech and Violets Tale .but to be honest the Latter might be to Dark it your a Scardy Cat .
you are absolutely amazing and what a great reaction! I would love to see you do his tales of jenny, screech and voilet, they are amazing story telling songs
@shestu I can only assume you know her quite well to speak for her but if you are going down the ren rabbit hole these are a must, that being said he has so much more to offer then just hi ren and definitely worth checking out his older songs.
@AttractiveSavage66 Someone who literally labels their video identifying herself as afraid of everything and being creeped out isn't probably going to like the tales. Makes sense for her to check out It's alright or How to be Me or any number of other Ren songs first.
Christ on a bike, you've just watched the most soul baring performance you will ever see and you're talking about a dodgy light bulb? If I look up vacuus is the dictionary, is there a picture of you? 🤔
Which "IT" did you watch? The original TV-movie from 1990, or the modernized 2017/2019 film(s)? The original had its moments of terror, but I reckon the films were way more horrifying.
@@amyjaneketley Wow! All three! And you survived! 😀 Good job! Normally those who claim to have such a sensitive disposition for horror films don't ever proceed all the way beyond the first!
Please do Rens "Tale of Jenny and Screech (full version)' That would be worth the price of a ticket. It's very intense. Please , please, please😁😁😁 Bring Kleenex.

This looks creepy
Guitar sounds nice
Oh he’s singing
Will the whole song be like this?
Here’s the beat
Ok he’s rapping now
This guy is scary
Now he seems nice
Oh I see what he’s doing
This is interesting
This is intense
The mean guy is a jerk
This is INTENSE
Make it stop
I haven’t blinked or taken a breath in 2 minutes
Go Ren!
YES!
OOO-OO-OO-OO-OO-..
I need some time to be still…
Last stage: I wanna scream the hope part with him from atop of a mountain.
This soooo spot on!
100% accurate
Genius description, so spot on

[Verse 1]
Hi there Ren
It's been a little while
Did you miss me?
You thought you’d buried me, didn't you? Risky…
'Cause I always come back
Deep down you know that
Deep down you know I'm always in periphery
Ren, aren't you pleased to see me?
It's been weeks since we spoke, bro, I know you need me
You’re the sheep, I'm the shepherd
Not your place to lead me
Not your place to be biting off the hand that feeds me
Hi Ren, I’ve been taking some time to be distant
I’ve been taking some time to be still
I've been taking some time to be by myself since my therapist told me I'm ill
And I've been making some progress lately, and I've learnt some new coping skills
So I haven't really needed you much, man
I think we need to just step back and chill
Ren, you sound more insane than I do
You think that those doctors are really there to guide you?
Been through this a million times
Your civilian mind is so perfect at always being lied to
Okay, take another pill, boy!
Drown yourself in the sound of white noise
Follow this ten-step program, rejoice!
All your problems will be gone! Fucking dumb boy
Nah, mate, this time it's different man, trust me
I feel like things might be falling in place
And my music's been kinda doing bits too
Like I actually might do something great
And when I'm gone, maybe I'll be remembered
For doing something special with myself
That's why I don't think that we should talk, man
'Cause when you're with me, it never seems to help
You think that you can amputate me?
I am you, you are me, you are I, I am we
We are one, split in two, that makes one, so you see:
You got to kill you if you wanna kill me
I'm not left over dinner, I’m not scraps on the side
Oh, your music is thriving? Delusional guy!
Where's your top ten hit? Where's your interview with Oprah?
Where are your Grammy's Ren? Nowhere!
Yeah, but, my music's not commercial like that
I never chased numbers, statistics or stats
I never write hooks for the radio
They never even play me, so why would I concern myself with that?
But my music is really connecting
And the people who find it respect it
And for me, that's enough
‘Cause this life's been tough so it gives me a purpose I can rest in
Man, you sound so pretentious!
Ren, your music is so self-centered
No one wants to hear another song about how much you hate yourself, trust me
You should be so lucky, having me inside you to guide you, remind you to manage expectations
Provide you perspective, that thing you neglected, I get it
You wanna be a big deal, next Jimi Hendrix? Forget it
Man, it's not like that
Man, it's just like that, I'm inside you, you twat!
No, it's not, man you're wrong, when I write I belong
Let me break the fourth wall by acknowledging this song:
Ren sits down, has a stroke of genius
He wants to write a song that was not done previous
A battle with his subconscious, Eminem did it
Played on guitar? Plan B did it!
Man you're not original, you criminal, rip-off artist
The pinnacle of your success is stealing other people's material
Ren, mate, we've heard it all before
Oh, "She sells seashells on the sea shore"
Fuck you! I don't need you, I don't need to hear this
'Cause I'm fine by myself, I'm a genius!
And I will be great, and I will make waves, and I'll shake up the whole world beneath us
That's right, speak your truth!
Your fucking god complex leaks out of you
It's refreshing to actually hear you say it!
Instead of downplay it
“Ugh, music is all about the creative process and if people can find something to relate to within that, then that's just a bonus”
Fuck you! I'ma fucking kill you, Ren
Well, fucking kill me, then! Let's fucking have you, Ren
I'ma do it, watch me prove it, who are you to doubt my music?
‘Cause I call the shots, I choose if you die
Yeah, I call the shots and so I choose who survives
I'll tie you up in knots when I lock you inside
[Bridge]
News flash
I was created at the dawn of creation
I am temptation
I am the snake in Eden
I am the reason for treason
Beheading all kings, I am sin with no rhyme or reason
Sun of the morning, Lucifer, Antichrist
Father of lies, Mestophales
Truth in a blender, deceitful pretender
The banished avenger, the righteous surrender
When standing in front of my solar eclipse
My name, it is stitched to your lips, so you see
I won't bow to the will of a mortal, feeble and normal
You wanna kill me? I'm eternal, immortal
I live in every decision that catalysed chaos
That causes division
I live inside death, the beginning of ends
I am you, you are me, I am you, Ren!
[Verse 2]
Hi Ren, I’ve been taking some time to be distant
I’ve been taking some time to be still
I’ve been taking some time to be by myself and I've spent half my life ill
But just as sure as the tide starts turning
Just as sure as the night has dawn
Just as sure as the rainfall soon runs dry when you stand in an eye of a storm
I was made to be tested and twisted
I was made to be broken and beat
I was made by His hand, it's all part of His plan that I stand on my own two feet
And you know me, my will is eternal
And you know me, you've met me before
Face to face with a beast, I will rise from the east, and I'll settle on the ocean floor
And I go by many names also
Some people know me as hope
Some people know me as the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope
And you know how I know that I'll prosper?
'Cause I stand here beside you today
I have stood in the flames that cremated my brain and I didn't once flinch or shake
So cower at the man I've become
When I sing from the top of my lungs
That I won't retire, I'll stand in your fire
Inspire the meek to be strong
And when I am gone, I will rise
In the music that I left behind
Ferocious, persistent, immortal like you
We’re a coin with two different sides
[Outro]
Ooooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh
Ooooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh...
[Spoken Outro]
When I was seventeen years old, I shouted out into an empty room, into a blank canvas that I would defeat the forces of evil
And for the next ten years of my life I suffered the consequences...
With autoimmunity illness, and psychosis
As I got older, I realized there were no real winners and there were no real losers in psychological warfare
But there were victims and there were students
It wasn’t David versus Goliath, it was a pendulum
Eternally swaying from the dark to the light
And the more intensely that the light shone, the darker the shadow it casts
It was never really a battle for me to win, it was an eternal dance
And like a dance, the more rigid I became, the harder it got
The more I cursed my clumsy footsteps, the more I struggled
So I got older
And I learned to relax, and I learned to soften, and that dance got easier
It is this eternal dance that separates human beings from angels, from demons, from gods
And I must not forget, we must not forget, that we are human beings
Welcome to the world of Ren. Buckle up, the rabbit hole, and the lyrics, go very, VERY deep. This man is a global treasure.
You obviously wrote that before you saw what she did and said. Pay attention.
...then this song was made for you :) Look evil in the face, take control, and stand on your own two feet!
I did notice that while back but didn't think to look it up. Thanks
Oohh another rabbit hole.. thanks xx
So that got you through it
Unfortunately he's not because some people are beyond saving.
@@Covaids and some people don't want to be saved.

Good luck with your channel.
there's an expression: "do something that scares you every day" - perhaps try watching The Shining o.O
the only way to win against fear is to face it, even in small doses.
Sometimes life is creepier than movies.
I love how most reaction videos ..

After the bit about Lucifer etc.. xx
Check out Ren and Chinchilla. Absolute gems
brief bio -- as noted, Ren contracted Lyme disease, was misdiagnosed as bi-polar, given psychotropic meds that fed his psychosis.......he is still in treatment.....

I have been watching ren reaction vids for 2 days straight n im glade i didnt stop u were the perfect reaction i been searching for
Not to be personal, but you should let him inspire your meekness to be strong. Great reaction girl. very nice.Have a great day.
It's weird how I envy and also pity anyone who can be unaffected by Hi Ren
I am so happy you did this!😍
Sick Boi is great also. It's the video that goes before this. You understand his therapy, that leads to this
💗💗💗 so proud of you making it through the video, you were very brave!
And yes, that *is* my major takeaway from this vid 😀
Also, if you do decide to dip into Ren again, but with something that's not even slightly creepy (or even mildly depressing), I recommend "1990s". It is *very* different.
I think it's because a lot of reactors are american, and dont know our lingo for that.. but I noticed this too.. which is why I had to comment lol
welcome to life.
What were you expecting? "fireworks" by Katie perry😂
Don't be afraid. There Are Good monsters.
A fun clip to watch is “The Mash Up.”
Ren’s trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy and is a prime example of his genius; it is a master’s class in storytelling and also showcases his guitar skills.
Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” and his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake).”
As I recently discovered, Ren also recorded a cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover),” that is simply beautiful.
Ren has hinted that he might release his newest song on March 29, which is his birthday.

my connection to this song is only the similarity of struggle,,
i'm undiagnosed autistic and have struggled with being a bit weird my whole life i had to start my own business because i had problems holding a job with sleep disorders and high ethics.. but managed to stay in business the last 40 years without needing to advertise or even carry a card, i run a lawn and tree service, a 1st responder thru 40 years of hurricanes in fla ,and do all phases of construction and kind of an inventor on the side, after six years of development i figured out a disaster response product that could help millions worldwide .. then my insurance agent forgot to post a payment back in 2020 and the state took everything i worked the last 40 years for away .. stuck at home like a prisoner i came online and saw people helping others so i started making videos explaining what i was. trying to do to get help, and found out if the platform your uploading to doesn't promote you your just talking to your phone, and then i see stuff like this and get jealous because i will never write a song that gets peoples attn like this. so my chances of bringing my ideas to the world are fading. and it's scary as hell to think of all that could be, but it may all be lost because one person forgot to hit enter on there keyboard.. and my chances of succeeding alone are close to those of getting out of quicksand alone..
We love Ren, he is wonderful, and so are you mate, thank you!

Was disappointed that a part of the totality of her reaction was "it was creepy not my cup of tea".
