I paid $8 for one of these at a local thrift store, a complete kit with all accessories and attachments in a nice bag. Looked like it had never been used and I probably used it 10-15 times and never had any issues. Now, after not having used it for 6 months, it has same symptoms you describe and was about to start taking it apart when I came across your video. Will soak overnight and see if this works for me. Thank you so much for posting this video.
Thank you for your simple instructions for fixing this steamer. You have a great way of explaining in a soft spoken manner and you were slow enough that I could get it. I have it soaking now in vinegar and hopeful it will work again!
Great vid, I have a similar offbrand one that just didn't work ever since it arrived. Just did what you showed in this video (minus the overnight soaking, instead i knocked the "button" with pliers) and got it to work, thanks!
I’m so happy to see this specific steamer with a fix for it. I had stored mine for a while and we have hard water. So the lime buildup was bad. I put vinegar inside in place of water but that didn’t help. So seeing your suggestion about taking the nozzle apart and soaking the top makes sense. Thank you. I’m doing that presently and will give it a good long soak to break up all the deposits. I’m fairly confident that this will get it working again. 🙌🏽
Thank u so much for this. I had actually borrowed one belonging to a friend of mine and it quit working. (We have really hard water and I had run out of distilled.) Before this I was calculating how out of pocket I would be if I had to purchase one for her as replacement as well as one for myself. Because of your instruction I was able to get it back to working and am now a little less depressed about this whole thing!! 😊
Thank You! The lower screw on the handle on mine wouldn’t budge and I found I didn’t really need to take it out to get the top off. I’ll let ya know if it works. 🤙🤙
Thank you for posting this video. I bought this at Goodwill yesterday for $4.99, but does not work. I am soaking it now, I am confident it will work. Thanks for the video. The white stuff looks like white lithium grease. I see it a lot in auto repair and that is what it typically is since its waterproof.
@@MeandMyShadow-u3c I just wanna make sure thanks a lot for sharing, I have a question please the vinegar should be the cleaning vinegar or just the regular vinegar???
@@MeandMyShadow-u3c Thanks for asking, haven’t had a chance yet, due to my dryer smelling like something is melting, that’s my appliance chaos right now, but I will certainly let you know once I try it!!!!
Thanks ( maybe think of a new title/tags fix a hand steamer with its trigger valve Stuck in the Open or closed position) I’ve had at least 2or 3 of these stuck and useless because of the trigger valve. Thanks again.
Nice Job, I'm going to try that next. You should have also soak the cap as it has a small hole also for the steam pressure release. I'm works but the pressure is weak.
Hello, thank you for posting this fix, it worked. Question about the white silicone jelly like stuff on the black plastic tube, that seemed to disintegrate with the vinegar, do you know what that is and if I need to reapply it to the joint? Thanks.
@@MeandMyShadow-u3c appreciate your quick response. I ended up putting it back together as is and it works perfectly. If ever I need to reclean the part, I may end up trying Teflon tape or silicone to make that seal. For now, my scunci is back to normal.
Hello Dough, I bought an used Scunci steamer 1600 professional from somebody who is not around anymore. It works, I steam the floor pretty good but I wanted to use the attachments and I believe I miss a piece to connect the attachment to steamer.. Could you make a video on how these connect and where I can buy the missing piece if that is the case indeed ? TIA !!!
So I’ve soaked my steamer in vinegar and while it got rid of the lime buildup, the metal button still seems to be locked in. Any suggestions on what I can try to loosen up the button? The vinegar doesn’t seem to be enough. It heats up just fine but it was stored for a while and it had water in it and locked up.
Yeah just use it every other day and your fine, but if your wife decides its nit useful and puts it away in about a month itll have clogs,i used it for everything from cleaning to fridge, floors, and even my engine it really cuts the grease and oil also it works on soda stains in headliner, thanks sis your clumsy
I had the same issue, my husband had to use a large wrench to get mine off. After getting the top off i filled it with water and realize the steam was coming out of the top, after looking i realized the small seal was the problem but have no clue where to get a replacement.
Was ready to throw this out but after watching and following the video, it’s working fine again. Many thanks

Great video. Giving it a try myself. The button is really frozen in there

thanks, Doug! I am soaking it in vinegar right now!!!
SOOOOOOO glad you did this video!! 👍🏿👍🏿
Wow I broke my thumb on mine trying to press it( not literally) . This worked for me within a couple minutes!! Thank you so much ❤💕😘
I add salt to vinegar when de-rusting things. Seems to help it Eat. Some also say adding lemon juice gives it more bite as well.
THANK YOU! I'm going to try your method, cant afford to buy another one.
Thank u vary much i got mine from my local goodwill and its doing this right here so im going to try this
Thanks Doug...I'll give it a shot.
Thank you, the video
Better to reattach the rubber gasket before screwing the top back on. You can make sure it seats correctly.
Thanks for the video much appreciated

I think its just grease, but I'm not sure remember now. Maybe someone else can answer this question. I glad it worked for you

What if I put 2 drops of engine oil on this brass pip? You think it wiil solve problem faster?
This was just what I needed. However, after soaking, I came up with an o-ring on the soaking solution. Any idea where it came from?
I did this exactly and the brass button still wouldn't move. I soaked it overnight again and it still won't move. Any more suggestions?

try moving the metal button with a pair of plyers.it should free up.

I had mine stored fo a while. Now I can't unscrew the cap. Anyone know what I could do to get a stuck cap.off?

@@retic67 Thank you! Someone said to hit it with a hammer, lol. If I can't get it loose I'll just have to buy a new steamer.
I used WD40 and it unscrewed ok.
soaking it now...see you tomorrow.🙂
Can you buy a new trigger from manufacturer?
Not that I know of. Someone else here might. Check out a used not working one for parts only on ebay then take what you need from that.
Aargh my hose extension is stuck .I can't turn it loose
