Matthew J. Boone Nice. I've played several complete 162-game seasons and never get tired of it! You like how I changed every player's name to the real player's name at that time? That took forever.
I remember I spent days and days making every roster with the correct names as possible from F1 pro sports baseball magazine. I remember just one day I took the game over to a friend's house and everything was gone got to love that battery memory save you never know
Me too! Me too! Bonus points, I never owned the game or the system. I had to rent the SNES from blockbuster when my mom wanted to treat me and my brother, which means the couple times I rented this game I might have named all the players just so I could play it like that for 2 days and then return it. But I def have all the players named on my emulated version of the game now.
In the 1980's commodore 128 had a baseball game called Hardball, all had two artificial teams and names, but to throw a no hitter, you either throw high and in or far outside and the computer wiffs
I pitched a ridiculous amount of one hitters in this game including several into the 9th, I didn’t think it was possible to actually get the Nono/perfecto (really the same thing in this game since walks never happen and there’s no errors) against the computer
Yeah same here! i played 3-4 full seasons (w the Chi Sox) & more than a dozen times would throw 1 hitters usually broken up in the 9th. Rom knowledge was basically unknown at that time but I was sure there was something programmed in to keep you from a perfect game or no hitter. I was so close so many times no way did it seem like a coincidence ! - Don’t think i ever got the 2nd Snes one (winning run) but both for n64 played constantly!!
Nice. The ol "two controller perfect game" 😂😂😂 I've played this A TON on SNES and emulators. There is NO FUCKING WAY the CPU is swinging at those pitches from Glavine.
There is no way for me to prove it, but this was a one player, one controller game. As confirmed by other players, it’s not impossible and not an especially rare thing. I did play about 4 full seasons before I did it for the first time though.
I wish Javy was actually in this game! That’s Damon Berryhill, but thinking about it now, he didn’t sign with the Braves until 1994. All the online rosters have Berryhill on this roster, so I’ll need to look into this….
Very well done. I use this pitching technique as well but don't get near the effectiveness with my Indians pitchers, they still crank homers and doubles off me which pisses me off. I feel like the Tribe is pretty bad on this game but that's been my team for decades so I'm not using anybody else. Anyways, nice job!
Thanks a ton for watching! Yeah, I'm fortunate that my favorite team is the Braves and they have an amazing pitching staff in this game. I love the dedication to your team, just like mine with the Braves. Sorry about 1995! Thanks again for watching!
1995 was a great series but sadly we fell short in game 6. After losing so many in a row the Braves deserved it. That was actually the year I became a Tribe fan. We got Dave Justice (who hit that HR to beat us) from ATL shortly after that and went back but blew game 7 in 1997....and then 2016 we blew 3-1, among many other playoff collapses. Needless to say it's been rough. But it's still Go Tribe!
LoL! I used to pitch the same way with Glavine back in the day. Threw a lot of no hitters but rarely got the perfect game. I'd usually walk someone before it was over. Let me guess... Fred's homerun count reset to 0 after the All-star break? lol
Jim Kaat used to say that Tom Glavine "lived on low and away avenue" but this is taking it to a whole new level. Did you have any fun throwing the same pitch to every hitter and getting the same result for the whole game? This is just spamming the shit out of an unhittable slider/screwball away to an AI that doesn't know any better than to think they can hit it. Also on offense you really need to have your baserunners take leads or you'll keep getting forced out on the basepaths. Y gives them a step off the base I believe. I like to give them 3 steps. This game with all its speed and quick throws, may be the most defense-friendly baseball game ever and baserunners get eaten alive routinely.
Unfortunately you're wrong, it's not unhittable. They can in fact hit homeruns, doubles, and even the occasional triple off of it. I wish it was though because then I could have a good season but go try that shit with Nagy or Mesa and get back to me.
Great game play!! Congrats.. were you playing with someone else or you were playing vs the cpu.. all those strikes outs you had on the Perfect Game? The cpu went after all those balls.. lol.
For pitching, I recommend doing as I have done here with any pitcher. Throw a slow slider (hold up on the D-pad as you throw, then hard left or right depending on the handedness of the batter) away from the batter. There will be batters that take you to a 3-ball count and you will need to decide: walk 'em or throw them strikes. If I throw them strikes, I generally try to jam them inside. For batting, it's all about batter placement. I typically have all of my batters up (closer to the pitcher) in the box. Then, I test-swing to adjust placement left-to-right. I look for the fattest part of my bat to be half-hanging over the outside edge of home plate. As the pitcher throws, sometimes the pitches are too fast to adjust your left-to-right position, but this placement allows for you to get good wood on any strike. If the pitch is slower, you can adjust your player left or right to put the best part of the bat on the ball. I know it's hard to describe in words, but this method has served me well. Now, I'm trying a technique where I stand very close to the plate. The results are good so far and I will continue to refine. The idea is that most players tend to swing early. Anyway, the method I described above has yielded seasons of 128-34, 130-32, etc.. Keep in mind, though, that I chose the Braves. This team has amazing pitching and great power. Not to brag, either, but my defense is really good too. In time you will learn all of the patterns that the ball takes. I hope this helps!
innoutraged Yesssss. I mean, really, if a guy keeps throwing pitches out of the zone, you stop swinging. They also have poor judgement about which base to throw to. One helped me throw the perfect game, the other helped me score the runs needed to win.
I had this game for Game Boy and pitched the same way. It was hilarious how the AI was so bad, the batters fell for it and swung 98% of the time. Of course there was always one guy late in the game that would hit a homerun somehow, but generally it worked. I won the World Series like this.
I hardly know any of today's ball players, but THESE guys? I remember them all.
"Aww, come on!" This will always be my favorite Baseball game and I still own it, complete in-box.

1:08!
And who can forget the bat breaking at 2:57?!!
The man with one red shoe is where that line was ripped from

It was devastating. Comforting knowing I wasn’t the only person that it happened to
Cubs fan here. Great memories playing this game. I still have this game to this day and sometimes play it.
I like how you went in full dork mode and actually named the players. Not gonna lie, I did the same thing.
And Griffey Is The Only One Who Has His Actual Name
Me too! Me too! Bonus points, I never owned the game or the system. How is that "full dork mode"? Real sports fans want the real players, I did the same thing and am far from dork. More like full legit mode.
Matt Gullett
I did the same thing. It was a pain! Lol
You're using all the glitches (the bunt for a hit thing, the egregious balls outside)...must have been so fun to play......
This game was awesome. I still play it using my phone. Games like this bring back good memories when games didn't have to look great but played well.
They Should Remaster This With Modernized Graphics, Create A Player Option And Franchise Mode
And An Power Swing Button Could Be Useful And A Could Be For The Contact Swing
This is back when baseball games were simple. Now you need a college degree just to understand the controls
Even back when this game was made, I know they had the ability to make it so the AI wasn't this dumb. This is some straight cheese lol
Nice work! The most K's I have so far is 15 and never had a perfect game, though many shutouts.
If i had a runner on 1st and 3rd I would bait them into throwing and do cat and mouse until I scored as long as it was fast runners.
Glavine even managed to get a hit in there too. Great day for him ☺️.
one of the best nintendo soundtacks ever.
No mention of the perfect game in the paper.
I used to pitch like that to get out of jams all the time.
Best game of all time. No glitches, errors or bad calls. Pure
It does have errors, look at the AI on this video!!!!! Even a child wouldn't swing on those wild pitches.
Perfect game, having thrown zero actual strikes

I remember when I figured out the same thing when I was a kid. I think I was like 8 or 9 when I got the game.

Waiting for someone to point this out. I played multiple seasons of this and CPU will not swing at those balls over and over again lol
This game is so fun but very hard and challenging.
Its challenging if you dont cheese it like player here with pitching
bunting with otis junior nixon is always a good choice.
Not if he's hitting .530.
The music is great
Yeah, definitely a sweet driving pulse that never gets old!
No Javy Lopez? Who's D. Berryhill? I used to actually have Eddie Perez play catcher when Maddox pitched cause I knew that's what happened IRL.
I wish Javy was actually in this game! That’s Damon Berryhill, but thinking about it now, he didn’t sign with the Braves until 1994. All the online rosters have Berryhill on this roster, so I’ll need to look into this….
@@VGMProf I'm pretty sure that player was meant to be Lopez. He was the starting catcher at that time.
@@NonSenseMcGee Right! And I wonder why the jersey number and stats are all wrong. Javy was a beast in real life!
@@VGMProf Indeed...Javy was #8 and I believe a switch hitter?
@@NonSenseMcGee Yeah #8 I knew, and I believe he only batted as a righty.
reminds me of the 2021 world series
I WISH THEY WOULD RELEASE SNES & THIS GAME...WOULD LIKE TO PLAY AGAIN
It's called a retro store or eBay.
1:39 "AWW, COME ON!"
Bagwell's arms weren't quite long enough...
By your stats I can see your having a great season with your ATL Braves
mjpipkid Yeah, and my bullpen is amazing unlike the real-life Braves this year.
Very well done. I use this pitching technique as well but don't get near the effectiveness with my Indians pitchers, they still crank homers and doubles off me which pisses me off. Awesome game. The Astros are swinging at alot of wild pitches lol.
I don't think I'd bunt with a guy holding a .530 batting average.

Yes it did! This glitch has kept me from a few 50 homer seasons for sure!
Jim Kaat used to say that Tom Glavine "lived on low and away avenue" but this is taking it to a whole new level.

I pitched one with Avery once.
Very hard to do!
I never see anyone try to steal and it's really easy if you're timing is right.
Great game play!! Congrats.. were you playing with someone else or you were playing vs the cpu.. all those strikes outs you had on the Perfect Game? The cpu went after all those balls.. lol.
CPU. The AI in this game is not the most intelligent.....
Tom Glavine never threw a perfect game in real life...only on a video game like this!
Roger Clemens never threw a perfect game or a no-hitter and he was the best pitcher of the last hundred years. Greg Maddux also never had a no-hitter.
@@jeffw1267 Justin Verlander Threw Two Of Them

Ken Caminiti almost got ya lol!!
I decided to bring mine back out recently, am really struggling. Am currently 2-5 in my season, any tips or pointers?

VGMProf pitching like that is for babies...i thought u got your perfect game legitimately......click bait
I'm a mets fan, and I ain't even angry
We shared Glavine, we don't have to fight...we can get along... There is common ground.
1:09 dude… you swung 3x…
The Astros are swinging and missing at a lot of balls lol.
and thus they started staling signs
The worst sports CPU AI I've ever seen! lol!
innoutraged Yesssss. I mean, really, if a guy keeps throwing pitches out of the zone, you stop swinging. They also have poor judgement about which base to throw to. One helped me throw the perfect game, the other helped me score the runs needed to win.
Only watched a minute. Is it just 20 minutes of throwing that curveball 4 feet outside and having the dumb cpu swing?
Impressive😅
Awww COME ON!!!!!!

I am the best in this game
This is bullshit. He's got it on 2 player and controlling both teams. Purposely swinging at bad pitches.
Steven Miller Nope, 1 player. The AI is just that bad.
VGMProf my apologies. I just don't remember the ai being that bad when I had that game lol.
BAM SON! :)
SquareOneGames Sometimes, you just gotta live the dream and throw a perfect game! BAM! Also, we should talk. I'll try to get up with you tonight.
Cool. :)
This is rigged. The AI in this game doesn't act like that if you pitch outside all the time. Not that easy.
