Thanks for the review, gave me the exact dimensions and semi-hands on feel of the product.
Thanks for your comment!
Thanks for the review, greetings from Carmelo, Uruguay 🇺🇾🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
Good review d2f, they look handy lil' lights. The only downside is their power output figures as running 12v at 40mA relates to 480mW, which is far from the suppliers specified 3W. These Chinese guys have some weird power calculators :)
Yes, gotta love those marketing guys.
And 480mW would be if all that power was going into the LED
, not into heating the mounting bolt.
The heat generated is on par with 10W though! Seriously you can burn yourself on them, and I've heard of lens melt from others.
Question(S) ; are You running resistors?
is it best to have one resistor per LED, would series and parallel still change how many resistors you should be using?
cathode or anode? Which side is recommended the resistor be connected to??...and why?
Thnxs again
Hi just watched your content i have just recently bought a set of eagle eye led lights, I was wondering can i connect the battery with a Switch, Interested to install them in my vehicle with the switch,
Would you guide through the right direction,
Thx u
Hi. Whats the best way off fitting them. Straight to the battery or join them to light unit
hi there i want to dim a red 3w drl eagle eye as a tail light so what type of resistor to use from bright to dim
thanks
how many current this eagle eyes led?
I have a bunch of them I am installing as well. On KILL TESTING... I noticed the difference between 9.5v and 12V to be HUGE as far as the amount of heat generated... but I have not had a thermal fail YET. Have you had issues? As in running the alt is feeding 13v ish... so that might become terminal. Thinking about doing a resisted filter locking current to 10.5-11V. Thoughts? Issues? What was your fail rate on the bulbs? Some brands has super crap wiring...
They are designed to operate up to 14v.
I Like it very much but i want know one thig can we make it multy clour ?
Thanks, very helpful. I am intending to use these indoor and I would be grateful if you could help. Instead of using DRL box to connect them to a car battery , will those LEDs work with UK 3-pin plug switching power supply labelled: output 12V, 400mA and input 100-240V, 0.2A? do I need resistors to connect 6 of them in parallel ? Do they get very hot that may melt a thin plastic sheet or base similar to the one you used in your other video? Thank you.
+Visitor H Not sure the power supply you have, but the LED just needs 12V DC to them. They get warm but not super hot to melt anything.
Can i install this light to royal enfield classic350??
Taiger light
How are the in the night?? I ordered 2 for reverse lights cause my car’s lights ain’t too bright
Bright as hell. Used 12 for reverse lights on a wood bed I made for a quad cab S10. Too many! Almost too bright.
That's the led that I'm looking for to install as DRL running lights on my Kia Rio 2018, where you bought?
You wouldn't happen to have a measurement for the thread?
Hello sir, i would like to ask sou something about those lights. For few seconds or minutes as signals-reverse would be OK but if i lit them constantly for example 30 minutes or more what's going to happen? they will turn-off by themselves? they will be overheated and burned?
I just bought 30 lights in different colors, one each are hooked up to power supply ranging from 9V to 13V... at 13 similar to a car with a charging alternator, they get HOT!!!!! I have burned my fingers... but not yet killed them... burning now for 2 days non stop. They are currently burning outside in 25° weather in the snow... and getting covered with snow. I DO try to kill them before I'm will ing to install!!
@@GotScout : these are not for continuous use, i have tested them in my car, they are good only as extra reverse or parking lights.
Nice ! Sir if the eagle eye is not working ? What i shall i do?
Excellent review
Can you make video with this on the front bumper??!!
What are those?
i'm wondering if these are illegal to display on a number plate if they are bought in the blue led color? i think they probably are but not certain. i just bought 2 of these in blue led. if they are illegal then i best buy white or red.
On a vehicle, you can only display white, yellow, red light. All other colors are reserved for emergency vehicles or off road use.
OK thanks, i think i better return the blue ones when they arrive in exchange for some white ones save getting pulled over by the law.
might be okay if they aren't strobing, depends on your state
this may be a stupid question .. but can I connect 3 of these in series and hook them up to 14.9V source from the car? thanks
hazarewaal There are no stupid questions. You want to connect them in parallel and not in series. When they are in series, they will divide the voltage of 14.9V to each LED which in your case with 3 LEDs, will be 4.96V each. They need 12-14V each.
thanks so much
what tools is that to give the led voltage to turn it on?
thanks great info
How far this light can light it up 👆
How durable are these? Would they withstand offroad use?
Yes they will work fine for offroad. It's LED and there is no glass on the lens.
can I use 2 of the LED´s wiht a 24V battery?
U can buy those for 12v or for 24v, its up to u what u need, they also comes in a 18mm version and 23mm version
thanks for the good review, i suspected the power ratings were an outright lie, and now i know they are, thanks............lots of sellers on ebay say these are are 9 watts and sometimes 10 watts and charge more, you can tell this is bogus by the style of the chip lay out on the carrier as pictured through the lens you can only see 3 very small dies under the phosphor gel which rules out 9 watts as well as the package cannot heat-sink a 9 watt device properly. 3 watts would be possible but the chip dies would have to be much more robust............ just for fun i fired off the question "whats the real rating" to 10 different ebay sellers today wondering what kinda of bs responses i will be getting soon i will know who is honest in any sellers are...........
+Ocean House Thanks for sharing, but honestly most Ebay sellers of those lights are not technical and probably can't tell you anything more than what the package says. If you check out their Ebay store, they probably sell everything from car accessories to kitchen sinks. They buy these things bulk from the local manufacturer and sell whatever is on hand. That's why I don't (can't) put the Ebay link to any of my video reviews I do because these sellers come and go frequently. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Ebay as I still buy plenty there, but just understand you get what you pay for.
great video ty
I will be shocked if they have any real power conversion going on inside. So it means that the LED itself is running at 40mA and the excess voltage is dropped using the linear regulator and that is why the aluminium gets so hot. 40mA at 3.7V is 0.12W It does not look too bright in the video either.
I dont believe there is any voltage regulation circuit, but simply a resistor in series to limit the current.
can u use these as interior also with a switch
Yes you can
Kya bat h
the name on the ebay?
there good lights but the wires are so skinny.they shouldve use a hair.
I have theese on my car for 8 months....there is a problem, they are not water proof, water get inside between lens and housing, and they will fail
I will keep an eye on mine for any problems. Thanks for sharing.
I took a picture yesterday,is the 3rd failed LED wich I have to replace,from total of 12
postimg.org/image/e2rts2x15/
IulianE I took at the picture and that does look like water got in. I hope they have done some improvements to the quality. Time will tell. Thanks!
+IulianE I agree I had the same problem with the water ingress when they were on the front of my jeep. Good to use inside though, and have used them for my number plate illumination too.
Is it water proof?
Yes
They are no brighter than the industry standard 1watt eagle eye. Just another manufacturer and seller misleading the consumer with false advertising. I’m sick and tired of it !!!!
does those work on 6v battery?
No, u can chhoose between 12v or 24v
I think you would want ip67 rated. We often scoff and laugh at the beauracracy of things like IP ratings. But for automotive appliacation where using them as drls mean they will be exposed to water, rain, snowl hail you would want the good water protection.
IP67 = Water resistant plus. “Protected against the events of temporary submersion (10 minutes)”*Do NOT submerge IP67 LED lights for extended periods, these are not waterproof.
Don't use these as DRLs guys, you're going to blind the #%$@ out of everyone.
please use hand lotion bro. your hands are dry AF
Let that go
