      @@Dr.IanPlect He starts at 0:05 and finishes at 1:51, so the hillclimb takes him 1:46.
      Which is exactly the time of his three competitive runs 1:46.09 - 1:46.25 - 1:45.74. So, he is pushing hard enough to secure a podium finish at a European Championship hillclimb.

    The base is the original GP2 Mecachrome/Renaulz, but in hillclimb the engine cannot be bigger than 3L so Swiss Racing Enngineering downsized the engine to 3L

    1.45.73 is the time of David's run which is an average speed of 177 km/h with 3 hairpins and standing start. Check the videos from outside, but if you don't believe, then don't believe it.

    This hillclimb is in Switzerland and i live here, funny is that we have a racetrack prohibition because of danger, since the tragic crash at 24h lemans in 1955!
    But this is not dangerous i guess? ^^

      The ban was because so often cars flew into crowds, with the horrible accident at Le Man being the worst event at the time.
      As you can see here, the crowds are mostly far away from the racing car.

    For anyone thinking this has been speed up, It hasn't been. The engine notes are correct and GP cars really are that fast.
    You have to give this guy huge credit, he was completely stuck in trusting his car for grip in nearly every corner, If he hadn't gotten that grip, he would've had a bad thing coming.

      You can see how it has been speed up by looking at the drivers hands on the steering wheel

      This has been speed up. Only the first seconds are not speed up. See it here in 0.5 of speed, it look normal.

    I nice gentle ride with 176 kph average (5169 m in 105,74 sec) on an sunday afternoon (18th aug 2013), watching the beautiful landscape, smell the forest and the meadows, catching some butterflies, bugs and flies and being one with mother nature.
    That's life!

    Definitely some of the best driving I have ever seen. Pretty sure that’s not your first run up there..! It’s so fast it would take a lot of learning and big punishment for mistakes. Brilliant

    ok .. i really think that this event is just as much of a test to driver skill and bravery than Pikes Peak...these guys are doing up to 185mph through a tight and twisty course with trees lining the edges. Trees are worse than brick walls to crash into as they just dont move being rooted under ground. Its total shit for you to say PP is more of a test. This imho is far more skilled and much more dangerous. Plus have you ever driven a open wheel racing car on normal roads?? not easy at all !!

    How much practice time do drivers get at a St. Ursanne event like this? His corner exits are so perfect and some are so close to putting a tire in the grass and certain disaster. I know this course must be an old friend to him, but I wonder how many passes it took him to initially find the grip limit with this setup. 1:15 is hair raising!

    First and foremost, I was referring the sensation of speed you get from this course, I can assure a GP2 car certainly wasn`t made for extreme camber, considerable bumps and the certain very green surface of a normal road. Secondly, if you are talking about the danger involved, I`m fairly sure that if something were to fail or if he clipped the armco at the highest speed direction change, he`d be lucky to be alive afterwards.

    Fun Fact: The reason Swiss people do this kind of racing en masse is because the Swiss government deemed racing on race tracks too dangerous after the 1955 Le Mans incident. Yeah.

    Sometimes it seems like they could run a taller gear. In some sections they are on the rev limit and could use another gear in the box. Man, these guys just fly,
