Great video, I have to do this on my Superb of similar age and I will take the same steps here but looking for slight variation here and there. Thanks again
@@wawayltd For anyone with a Skoda Superb Mk2, it's just like this except the motor is released with 1/4 turn anti clockwise. There's no need to remove screws. Super easy. The bearings needed greasing on my motor so I squired some silicone spray down into the bearings and gave the outside a few knocks with a rubber mallet and it's working again. Not sure how long it'll last but this might help someone.

Would this be the reason why my blowers are making a clicking sound, like something is catching all the while? Love the video! Looks really easy to do.
Thanks for this. Just managed to do this and new fan burst into life. I noted that when getting access the fan was slightly damp. Please note that their are four locations under the windscreen where water drains. I found some of them blocked. At a guess I think partial blockage has allowed some water in that has damaged the fan. The lock downs haven't helped as i have hardly driven my car. Just ensure you check they are unblocked.
Great easy to follow video!!! Does the resister come as an integral part of the motor? Or is it located separately? In my 2015 Superb 3 1.6 TDI , its behaving very erratically. Sometimes working fine, sometimes not working at all, sometimes when working, it makes a whirring noise. Thanks in advance for your help.
If the part can be separated, it might be sold separately. Best thing to look online. Problem with these motors - brushed wear out or bearings. But they are not built to be repaired, easier to buy new one.
I've bought a new one, just to be sure! In your Video, you show an Octavia, and the glove box drops down and can be easily removed, but in my Superb, not so easy to remove the box, but I managed to get the fan out , but not so easy, and you need to be a bit of a contortionist LOL. Do you have any video showing fan replacement in an Superb? Thanks @@wawayltd
Hello everyone, did someone experience a bad smell that was coming out of the heater ducts in the car? There seems nothing wrong with my Skoda, just the smell of burned electronics in the 5 minutes of starting the car. Can it be the blower motor at fault?
Hi This explains and shows us how. Great. One question, I was surprised when the fan/motor stopped and didn't give me an alarm on the dash! Is that normal?
Hi. Does the Octavia mk3 have more than one Heater Motor? Reason i ask is the passenger side vents are working fine and the driver side ones arent. They blow air but they dont get warm. Any advice?
Hello in my Volkswagen Golf 7 (facelift) I get the following error code: B10BE13 with the description "Fan bus group (LIN) - status of the fan controller - interruption of the Motor". Based on the noise, I would very much put it down to the blower motor. Do you happen to know whether it's similarly "easy" to mount on the Golf 7 or whether you have to remove the entire dashboard (as announced by the car repair shop? VW would like to have over 1000 € for it and I'm seriously considering doing it myself, if it's as easy in golf as in the video)
Hi Niklas, I don't know exactly how it's done in Golf 7. I can recommend a good website, from manufacturer, that offers well organised PDF documentation manuals. I used similar one (from Skoda) to download for my Skoda. Access to actual manuals is not free, but it's only about €7 per hour, which is more than enough to download anything you want. Just make sure that you select the language you need. It's not quite mobile friendly, so use it from a PC. Here's the link: erwin.volkswagen.de/erwin/showHome.do
Thanks! I think if it's not the same then pretty similar. I have a video for my 2012 Sharan. Maybe that will be more time relevant for VAGs. Check this: th-cam.com/video/uKDU14PbhtQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ER0SIsKX1jAilW3X
I don't even know what brands there are. I buy what's compatible (AutoDoc, Eurocarparts.. ), and it works. If you quote a price from dealership - it's unjustifiably expensive.
Hi im having some sort of wierd burned smell some times from my mk3 octavia, could it be the blower motor or do you think its the blower resistor, and are the resistor sitting on the blower motor? 😁 Good video 😁👍
I have noticed that the resistor unit on the second-hand car market costs about the same as the whole blower. Therefore, if my blower failed, I never was bothered to separate them. The most common thing to fail, I think, is brushes that wear out. And even with brushes, they made it so "single use", and disassembling the unit seems such a hassle (if it's possible at all)! It's very common motor, it gets fitted in various VAG models - VW and Audi, so there are plenty sold everywhere for cheap, so I find easier to replace whole thing.
if the blower motor fails does it just stop working altogether have no fan on seat leon mk3 and am trying to find the cause nothing happens when i move the fan controls
Yeah it normally dies and stops, before dying it gets a little noisy, sometimes it just stops without noise. Most popular cause - worn out brushes, not that easy to repair, easier to replace whole motor.
Wow! That's weird. Can't even turn off with the off button? Maybe a faulty controller or something... Does the old one still work to test the difference?
Just removed my blower motor, could not have done it without this great video, many thanks
You're welcome! 😎👍
I dont like many videos but you sure are worthy a like! Super easy to understand and you show every step perfectly.

No. Sharan is still with me, I just don't use it at the moment. I have new DPF for it, but can't find time - too much to be done with the website.

Have you done a video on changing the heater matrix at all? I found this guide really useful and was very beginner friendly!

Tremendous video.
Made what I was doing so easy 👍👍

Yes, then don't throw any errors. Normally they get noisy and then stop.

This is the video about blower motor. If AC doesn't work, it could be either low pressure in the system or compressor issue or something else
