I have Personal pride in this battle. I completely called Tai physically attacking Red. Tai fought Matt on several occasions because of simple disagreements. There's no way he wouldn't fight a kid he thought was his enemy if he saw that he was calling the shots.

Randy Johnson I've noticed a trope with Pokemon fans: If a hater appears, and ignorant of any relation to the context of the hating, they will automatically think that he is a Digimon fan. I like neither, and think that both are unoriginal concepts. This comment (among others), was a social experiment run by me, in order to see just how infantile the fanbase is in comparison to the franchise itself (measured parameters being the scale of the "hater-hate" reaction, etc.), and all I can say so far is that the fanbase does seem a whole lot more mature to me than it did before. So to answer your (Alex's) question, no. It isn't the fanbase I hate. It's the franchise.

Taichi (or Tai if you insist) is well known for joining the fight. Multiple times in the series he would pick up a metal pole and attack to buy Agumon some time, even being brave enough to attack a giant monster. Him punching Red is the most in-character thing to ever happen on Death Battle.
I've been saying this for years. Digimon has the advantage of both quantity and quality when it comes to a fight. There are multiple Digimon capable of annihilating armies all on their own.
+PepperonibeatsZombie Well not gods, but in Season 4 we got Seraphimon, Orphanimon, and Cherubimon, the 3 guardians of the digital world. But if we wanna count the protagonists' top tier Digimon then it gets pretty lopsided. Omnimon is literally a fusion of the 2 Mega Level Digimon from Season 1, WarGreymon and MechaGarurumon. Imperialdramon is the Mega Level Fusion of Veemon and Wormmon. Fighter mode is stronger than that, and Paladin mode basically gives it the aforementioned Omnimon's strength. Onto Season 3, we have Gallantmon, and Gallantmon Crimson Mode. Not much to say except just that. Season 4 got us Susanoomon, a fusion of the 10 Legendary Ancient Spirits, and overall a fusion of 20 Digimon. Season 5 brought us Mega level but like Season 3 gave an additional power beyond Mega, that being Burst Mode. And I have yet to see Fusion/Xros Wars so I can't really say for that.
The reason it wasn't every Pokemon vs every digimon is because DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG THAT WOULD TAKE TO ANIMATE, HOW MUCH RESEARCH AND HOW SLEEPLESS THEY WOULD BE

Sorry, I don't have months or years to waste watching such an obscenely long video. :P And honestly, there is a Digimon who could likely just wipe out the entire Pokemon universe just by *sneezing*. ZeedMillenniummon eats entire timelines for *breakfast*. There really aren't any Pokemon, not even legendaries, who could hope to even slow down ZeedMillenniummon. The power difference between the strongest Digimon (like ZeedMillenniummon,Lucemon, Susanoomon, and Alphamon Ouryuuken) and the strongest Digimon is simply *absurd*. To give you an idea of just how strong Alphamon Ouryuuken is, in his normal form as just Alphamon, he is so powerful that if he stays in one place for too long the entire digital world itself will become increasingly unstable, and in his Ouryuuken form he is far more powerful than he is in his normal form. And then there's *Lucemon*. In his *Rookie* form even Mega level Digimon have second thoughts about fighting Lucemon, and Ultimates would be curbstomped by Rookie form Lucemon.

Rayquaoxys3846 I highly doubt it. The power difference of the respective evolutions/digivolutions is simply too wide. Pokemon gain significantly less power when they evolve (even with Mega Evolution) than Digimon do every time they digivolve.
+Zach Schunk When you have over 700 pokemon and god-only-knows how many digimon, even if you had the resolve and drive to research all of that and animate it, there's still one major problem. You would have to make literally hundreds, maybe even thousands of assumptions about who is fighting who at any given time. They only did an army battle once with Eggman vs Wiley, and even that one ended in a tie, probably because they just couldn't wrap their head around every single detail.

Not to mention legendary Pokémon that can beat any Digimon. I mean, Mewtwo destroyed infinity, Groudon controls the sun, Kyogre controls the gravity of the moon (aka the tides), Rayquaza beat both Groudon and Kyogre, Dialga can erase things from time, Palkia can erase things from existence, Arceus is a God, Reshiram and Zekrom can destroy the world even though they are incomplete forms of Kyurem, making both Kyurem black and white stronger than world-busting, Xerneas can create life and Yveltal kills everything whenever it is defeated. Austyn Scruggs Not really. Pokémon aren't forced into capture. They let themselves be captured when the trainer that wants to capture them has proven their worth. Don't believe me? They could kill trainers at any given moment but don't. Because they want to see what the trainers can do. Legendary Pokémon are immense in power, to the point in which even most of the strongest super heroes look weak in comparison. Dialga alone could just erase every Digimon from time.

There are like, more than 1200 Digimon, versus the 720 pokemon. Even if the Pokemon army weren't completely destroyed by sheer numbers, Digimon are EXTREMELY over powered in comparison to Pokemon. Pretty much anything in existence that goes on the internet can become a Digimon.

yup called it... there is no way a pokemon could beat a digimon... and Wargreymon isnt even Agumon's strongest form... and they gone easy with Red... they can totally warp digievole on turn 1 and the battle would ended there.

Whenever I think about just how strong WarGreymon really is, the fact that he can move fast enough to seemingly disappear and reappear to the naked eye is always one of my go to feats. Also, I was expecting them to explain the exact physics of WarGreymon being able to kick that giant metal ball as well as featuring the surviving a million Diaboromon feat more prominently instead of just tossing them into the list at the end. Though, I guess they just needed to make it a bit shorter and didn't want to make it quite as obvious who would win, even though it's pretty obvious either way.
In the livestream they explained that although the fight is between Charizard and Greymon, the conclusion is based on the fundamentals of how both series work, so I guess they're saying any logical fight would end the same way.

For one, his power is so mmense that if he stays in one place too long the entire digital world will become unstable. Then there's the fact that his Digitalize of Soul attack manipulates time itself to allow him to attack a potentially infinite number of times in a given moment. I like both Pokemon and Digimon, but I'm not so blind as to think Pokemon even stood a chance here. ZeedMilleniummon alone could have basically just *sneezed* and wiped the entirety of the Pokemon universe. The difference in power between Pokemon and Digimon is flat out absurd.

Tai also fought a mega formed monster with a steel pipe and kept atking it until it fought back. Tai had no fear of losing or death back then when he was 9 years old. Red or Ash has never fought to save the world or got into a fight without their pokemon Tai has gotten into fights with humans and digimon with his own hands.
The thought just occured to me, that mega evolution is kind of ripping off digimon. given that it's meant to be the conection between trainer and monster that allows it to happen and it's a temporary change. I did love this fight, Tai punching Red out was hilarious.

The interesting thing about the fight is that Red didn't understand that this wasn't just a friendly Pokemon battle until Tai punched him and by then it was too late, I wonder if in that hypothetical it would have played out differently if Red was aware that Tai and Agumon were willing to kill, as they were fighting to the death rather than to 'fainting' as is standard in the Pokemon series. While clearly WarGreymon had to win, I feel like that made this particular fight seem unfair.
It wouldn’t have made a difference, wargreymon can destroy entire cities with a single attack, and has killed digimon also covered in chrome digizoid. So nothing Charizard, who can only melt rock, could do to really beat him

I went through each of your Let's Watch DEATH BATTLE videos and counted how many times you were right and wrong with who you thought would win (not counting battles with no winner or ones I thought shouldn't count) and out of the total 51 battles you were right 31 times and wrong 20, so about 60% correct.

If we factor in the Digimon Story series, I'd argue that Digimon games = Pokémon games. Not to mention Digimon did what Pokémon wouldn't and made an MMORPG.
i'm both a pokemon and digimon fan and to be perfectly honest, all non legendary pokemon are like equivalent to champion level digimon, wargreymon is mega level which is above ultimate(>champion). and wargreymon isn't even one of the strongest mega level digimon out there, and no i'm not just being a fanboy here.

First stage Lucimon is technically a rookie level digimon, yet has the power to smite 3 megas at once, if not more, and he's not even a high-power god digimon. he's a god digimon, but he's at the lower rung by power standards.
@8:33 Like Pokemon, there are many of the same Digimon, but Tai's partner is special as it's egg was bonded with the power of Courage, something Tai would come to possess in abundance. This (plus a fated meeting between them) cemented this particular Agumon apart from many, many others of the same digivolutionary line.

Nah man, the most evenly matched fight would be BlackWarGreymon versus Mewtwo. They even have similar personalities, and without a tamer or trainer, neither could take on other forms.
Like everyone says the Pokemon's strongest Pokemon are the Creation Trio such as Dialga, Palkia and Giratina and also Arceus the pokemon of Creation at most those are on universal levels however the Strongest Digimon should be on Multiversal level there are actually around 5 or more Digimon on Multiversal level. also There are around 700 Pokemon but about 1200 Digimon
I don't watch a lot of Death Battles (usually just ones with characters I specifically know), and I was super excited about this one. I was rooting for Tai and Agumon from the moment it was announced, partially because I'm hardcore Digimon, but also because I played enough of the Pokemon games (up through the fourth generation) to know that Charizard couldn't win if Agumon continued to digivolve. That animation was absolutely beautiful though. I love it so much that I have actually watched the Death Battle multiple times.
So the reason they are kids in the Greymon clip at around 12:05 was because that was a different Greymon that came to them as kids, and all the kids who saw the fight were bounded to become the digidestined.
I just realized that if it were Marcus and his Agumon instead of Tai Marcus would have been beating the ever living shit out of Red from the beginning and even trying to beat the ever living shit out of Charizard.

To answer the kid question, digimon first appeared when the digidestined were little kids. Tai had no digivice then, but he was still able to make a digimon digivolve. Programs in the digital world noticed this and began making digimon and digivices specifically for children who were at that event, later titled the digidestined. This was foreshadowed/explained in season one and actually shown in Digimon the Movie. So the Greymon that you see with kid Tai and baby Kari is actually a completely different digimon from the partner/friend Tai eventually gets.

+ Brian McGuire Deoxys is barely a glass cannon since pretty much any hit can kill it Mewtwo is the true overall strongest Psychic type.Deoxys may have an advantage in speed and power but Mewtwo has versatility, power and defense and 80 out of 100 times means it can and will kill a deoxys.

Deoxys has 4 forms that all are devoted to different things, and if you're looking at the anime, it can switch between said forms at will. That means go Defense Form to tank pretty much any attack and then promptly switch to Attack Form to hit with the force of a meteor to the face. Again, not saying that Mewtwo would lose. Mewtwo is still the strongest Psychic-type. But Deoxys has the versatility advantage, easily.
Brian Rodriguez Both the anime and the games are canon. That's something very few people seem to be able to wrap their heads around; it's two different lines of canon. Same thing with the manga. Like how the Sonic franchise has a dozen f***ing canons to its name. You can pick one over the other if you want, but no medium is any less canon than the others.

If you watch the Pre Battle video, they say that they choosed that specific title mostly because it's about the core concept between Pokémon and Digimon and their bond between the trainers/tamers. Also Red/Charizard vs Tai/Greymon is a very long title.

I actually have to agree with the video, no Pokemon EVER could stand up after WarGreymon's Terraforce, let alone even live through it, not Arceus, not Giratina, none of them, heck, if it was Green and his Blastoise up against Matt and Gabumon, Digimon would still stand victorious, and let's be honest, Omnimon (Omegamon in the Japanese version) could solo the Pokemon Universe, he literally flat out deleted over fifty thousand Diaboromon in one Grey Sword slash, I'm pretty sure if Omegamon entered the Digimon world, he'd get bored of the weak ass challenges that Pokémon has to offer.

Oh when you were asking about if they were shrunk or something in the digimon clip of them being younger, it's from the first digimon movie before they got sent to the digital world there was a time years before that when digimon broke into the real world and attacked the city for a brief moment. Basically all the kids that seen that event like Tai, Kari, Izzy etc were the people who became the digi-destined years later. :P
@Ris Grestar Don't forget that in the Digital World, it's either you fight and win, or lose and be deleted. To Tai and Agumon, every fight is a battle for survival. In the pokemon world, it's simply fight till you faint. Though Pokemon CAN die if they take too much damage after fainting. But for digimon you don't just die, you are erased quite literally.
The reason it's called Pokemon VS Digimon is because it is pitting the core fundamentals of each series against each other rather than simply pitting two characters against each other. Also 7:42 that is a dragonite not a charizard.

I really enjoyed watching this, as you actually knew what you were talking about (more or less), compared to a lot of others who have made reaction videos for this. I see a lot of pokèmon fanboys who never really watched or played digimon reacting to this, so this was refreshing. I was really surprised by the result of this death battle... of course it's obvious that wargreymon would win, but I didn't expect it because Digimon get a lot of hate. As someone who grew up with both shows and loved them (but prefer Digimon) it was a lot of fun to watch :D
@7:11 One per canon. Anime and Games don't crossover. Pokemon Origin (the anime of Red's Adventure) was based on the Pokemon Red game, where he starred in. Though, there is a Genesect Movie where they introduce a Second Mewtwo, made by a different branch of Team Rocket... for some reason... Well not gods, but in Season 4 we got Seraphimon, Orphanimon, and Cherubimon, the 3 guardians of the digital world.
But if we wanna count the protagonists' top tier Digimon then it gets pretty lopsided.
Omnimon is literally a fusion of the 2 Mega Level Digimon from Season 1, WarGreymon and MechaGarurumon.
Imperialdramon is the Mega Level Fusion of Veemon and Wormmon. Fighter mode is stronger than that, and Paladin mode basically gives it the aforementioned Omnimon's strength.
Onto Season 3, we have Gallantmon, and Gallantmon Crimson Mode. Not much to say except just that.
Season 4 got us Susanoomon, a fusion of the 10 Legendary Ancient Spirits, and overall a fusion of 20 Digimon.
Season 5 brought us Mega level but like Season 3 gave an additional power beyond Mega, that being Burst Mode.
And I have yet to see Fusion/Xros Wars so I can't really say for that.
The reason it wasn't every Pokemon vs every digimon is because DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG THAT WOULD TAKE TO ANIMATE, HOW MUCH RESEARCH AND HOW SLEEPLESS THEY WOULD BE

And honestly, there is a Digimon who could likely just wipe out the entire Pokemon universe just by *sneezing*. ZeedMillenniummon eats entire timelines for *breakfast*. There really aren't any Pokemon, not even legendaries, who could hope to even slow down ZeedMillenniummon. The power difference between the strongest Digimon (like ZeedMillenniummon,Lucemon, Susanoomon, and Alphamon Ouryuuken) and the strongest Digimon is simply *absurd*. To give you an idea of just how strong Alphamon Ouryuuken is, in his normal form as just Alphamon, he is so powerful that if he stays in one place for too long the entire digital world itself will become increasingly unstable, and in his Ouryuuken form he is far more powerful than he is in his normal form. And then there's *Lucemon*. In his *Rookie* form even Mega level Digimon have second thoughts about fighting Lucemon, and Ultimates would be curbstomped by Rookie form Lucemon.

I highly doubt it. The power difference of the respective evolutions/digivolutions is simply too wide. Pokemon gain significantly less power when they evolve (even with Mega Evolution) than Digimon do every time they digivolve.

When you have over 700 pokemon and god-only-knows how many digimon, even if you had the resolve and drive to research all of that and animate it, there's still one major problem. You would have to make literally hundreds, maybe even thousands of assumptions about who is fighting who at any given time.
They only did an army battle once with Eggman vs Wiley, and even that one ended in a tie, probably because they just couldn't wrap their head around every single detail.

Whenever I think about just how strong WarGreymon really is, the fact that he can move fast enough to seemingly disappear and reappear to the naked eye is always one of my go to feats. Also, I was expecting them to explain the exact physics of WarGreymon being able to kick that giant metal ball as well as featuring the surviving a million Diaboromon feat more prominently instead of just tossing them into the list at the end. Though, I guess they just needed to make it a bit shorter and didn't want to make it quite as obvious who would win, even though it's pretty obvious either way.

Yeah. Pick any Digimon and put them up against say, Alphamon (even without his Ouryuuken form), and Alphamon would wipe the floor with any Digimon pitted against him. For one, his power is so mmense that if he stays in one place too long the entire digital world will become unstable. Then there's the fact that his Digitalize of Soul attack manipulates time itself to allow him to attack a potentially infinite number of times in a given moment.
I like both Pokemon and Digimon, but I'm not so blind as to think Pokemon even stood a chance here. ZeedMilleniummon alone could have basically just *sneezed* and wiped the entirety of the Pokemon universe. The difference in power between Pokemon and Digimon is flat out absurd.

Tai also fought a mega formed monster with a steel pipe and kept atking it until it fought back. Tai had no fear of losing or death back then when he was 9 years old. Red or Ash has never fought to save the world or got into a fight without their pokemon Tai has gotten into fights with humans and digimon with his own hands.
The thought just occured to me, that mega evolution is kind of ripping off digimon. given that it's meant to be the conection between trainer and monster that allows it to happen and it's a temporary change. I did love this fight, Tai punching Red out was hilarious.

The interesting thing about the fight is that Red didn't understand that this wasn't just a friendly Pokemon battle until Tai punched him and by then it was too late, I wonder if in that hypothetical it would have played out differently if Red was aware that Tai and Agumon were willing to kill, as they were fighting to the death rather than to 'fainting' as is standard in the Pokemon series. While clearly WarGreymon had to win, I feel like that made this particular fight seem unfair.

I went through each of your Let's Watch DEATH BATTLE videos and counted how many times you were right and wrong with who you thought would win (not counting battles with no winner or ones I thought shouldn't count) and out of the total 51 battles you were right 31 times and wrong 20, so about 60% correct.

i'm both a pokemon and digimon fan and to be perfectly honest, all non legendary pokemon are like equivalent to champion level digimon, wargreymon is mega level which is above ultimate(>champion). and wargreymon isn't even one of the strongest mega level digimon out there, and no i'm not just being a fanboy here.

Like Pokemon, there are many of the same Digimon, but Tai's partner is special as it's egg was bonded with the power of Courage, something Tai would come to possess in abundance. This (plus a fated meeting between them) cemented this particular Agumon apart from many, many others of the same digivolutionary line.

I don't watch a lot of Death Battles (usually just ones with characters I specifically know), and I was super excited about this one. I was rooting for Tai and Agumon from the moment it was announced, partially because I'm hardcore Digimon, but also because I played enough of the Pokemon games (up through the fourth generation) to know that Charizard couldn't win if Agumon continued to digivolve.
That animation was absolutely beautiful though. I love it so much that I have actually watched the Death Battle multiple times.

Oh! Just so you know the seen when Tai was younger was the Digimon movie where they had a flash back from a time that the little kids barely remember.
To answer the kid question, digimon first appeared when the digidestined were little kids. Tai had no digivice then, but he was still able to make a digimon digivolve. Programs in the digital world noticed this and began making digimon and digivices specifically for children who were at that event, later titled the digidestined. This was foreshadowed/explained in season one and actually shown in Digimon the Movie. So the Greymon that you see with kid Tai and baby Kari is actually a completely different digimon from the partner/friend Tai eventually gets.

If you're gonna try and introduce Arceus to the conversation, lemme just waltz into the Dark Ocean and call up my favorite digimon, Lucemon Chaos Mode. He could use his Pandemonium Lost attack to either completely eradicate Arceus, or just make him faint. 50-50 chance either way.

If you'd like to get back into Digimon, then watch season 3. It has a lot more going on then 01 and 02. It also has the most character development.

I think they ment Giga destroyer. Also Greymon and Metalgreymon can use Terra force in Digimon world ds.

If you watch the Pre Battle video, they say that they choosed that specific title mostly because it's about the core concept between Pokémon and Digimon and their bond between the trainers/tamers. Also Red/Charizard vs Tai/Greymon is a very long title.
(At 9:08) On Digimon Season 1, Am I the only one who notices that Etemon has a doll hooked on around his waist, that looks like "Monzaemon"? I mean even when he digivolves into MetalEtemon he has a doll that looks like "WaruMonzaemon".
I actually have to agree with the video, no Pokemon EVER could stand up after WarGreymon's Terraforce, let alone even live through it, not Arceus, not Giratina, none of them, heck, if it was Green and his Blastoise up against Matt and Gabumon, Digimon would still stand victorious, and let's be honest, Omnimon (Omegamon in the Japanese version) could solo the Pokemon Universe, he literally flat out deleted over fifty thousand Diaboromon in one Grey Sword slash, I'm pretty sure if Omegamon entered the Digimon world, he'd get bored of the weak ass challenges that Pokémon has to offer.

We have Darkness Mode Bagramon who ruined the entire world and got really fcked easily by Shoutmon X7 Superior Mode although he already sucked out all of the negative energy out of both Digital and Real World AFTER RUINING THE WORLD. Why was he defeated? Because Shoutmon X7 Superior mode fuses with all existing Pokemon.
Not just that, we also have Hydramon who decimates reality, we have Shakamon who the Arceus of digimon except that she's not the creator of digimon. Why you say she's the Arceus? Cause she created lifeforms for both Real and Digimon world. Oh! Mewtwo the Psychic Pokemon? Get rekt by Omnimon. Susanoomon be like "All of these dark and ghost type pokemon really irritates me" and each of 'em die. DIE. LET ALONE ANGEMON! He literally outmatch both Reshiram and Zekrom!

Oh when you were asking about if they were shrunk or something in the digimon clip of them being younger, it's from the first digimon movie before they got sent to the digital world there was a time years before that when digimon broke into the real world and attacked the city for a brief moment. Basically all the kids that seen that event like Tai, Kari, Izzy etc were the people who became the digi-destined years later. :P
According to the analysis Tai is taller than red, but it looked like, he was smaller.
@Ris Grestar Don't forget that in the Digital World, it's either you fight and win, or lose and be deleted. To Tai and Agumon, every fight is a battle for survival. In the pokemon world, it's simply fight till you faint. Though Pokemon CAN die if they take too much damage after fainting. But for digimon you don't just die, you are erased quite literally.

The reason it's called Pokemon VS Digimon is because it is pitting the core fundamentals of each series against each other rather than simply pitting two characters against each other. Also 7:42 that is a dragonite not a charizard.
Still had the option to digivolve with MetalGarurumon into Omnimon. (Or pass the torch to Imperialdramon Paladin Mode.)

I really enjoyed watching this, as you actually knew what you were talking about (more or less), compared to a lot of others who have made reaction videos for this. I see a lot of pokèmon fanboys who never really watched or played digimon reacting to this, so this was refreshing. I was really surprised by the result of this death battle... of course it's obvious that wargreymon would win, but I didn't expect it because Digimon get a lot of hate. As someone who grew up with both shows and loved them (but prefer Digimon) it was a lot of fun to watch :D

One per canon. Anime and Games don't crossover. Pokemon Origin (the anime of Red's Adventure) was based on the Pokemon Red game, where he starred in.
Though, there is a Genesect Movie where they introduce a Second Mewtwo, made by a different branch of Team Rocket... for some reason...
I'm still trying to figure that one out, though it's not the same one as before.
