It doesn't take much grip strength, it just takes the enduring of the pain of the skin on your thumb against the bar and possibly ripping some skin off. Hook grip eliminates grip strength.. to an extent. Closest you can get to straps without using them.

Congrats on the deadlift national record, and ripping your thumb looks super painful. I’m kind of surprised they said you failed on those squats, anyway to me your bench press is very impressive but it looks like you grip the bar kind of too close. Maybe it’s more comfortable for you but, you can see your triceps doing most of the work when you bench. If you move your grip down like an inch and half you would get more chest activation, and less stress on your arms, but you’re still very strong.

@@henry5405 I agree with what you’re saying but again not everyone benches the same telling someone they will add kg to bench by having a wider grip is not correct as it depends on the person and also depends on how the triceps and biceps are in terms of strength. I gave John as an example as he isn’t a wide grip bencher or even a low bar squatter yet he is the strongest of his class. There isn’t just 1 way to lift, find what works for you and this might work for Tyson, he just needs more time learning to bench and squat as he just focused on deadlift for all his career.

tbh I think that sumo dead is ugly as fuck and I dont understand how you manage to have such low squat/bench in comparaison, but nontheless this is still freaking impressive, even sumo haters like me are stunned by this performance. I really wish you'll hit 500kg in the future, I love your attitude and hope you'll never get hurt too bad on your way to a sumo wr
