I enjoyed this podcast very much, and I’m not even a dentist. 😝 My wife asked me to find some gingival flap tutorials for her. I started watching to make sure it was on point, and got hooked. Well done guys!
I agree - in this instance people also listen on Spotify so I worry about isolating listeners. Please do see me clinical videos for extractions - I hardly need to raise flaps when sectioning molars. Thanks for the comment doc
What's your opinion on using gelatin sponges after extractions such as Gelatamp, Surgispon, Clinix etc? I've been making a lot of headway with my surgical protocols in my last 3 years of practice and noticed a significant anecdotal drop in cases of dry socket and reduced reported pain levels since I started debriding, applying gelatin sponges, cross suturing basically all XLA sites, thoughts?
I have been taught by OS colleagues that this is a great way to manage extraction sites. Some would argue to consider socket grafting but aside from that, a sponge and a suture can go a long way! Personally I do sponge a lot and don't suture unless I find the tissues are not stable
@@protrusive You sponge but don't apply a suture, how interesting! I would have assumed this would make the clot less stable, but that hasn't been your experience? Thanks for the insight!
@@Ultrasonic00 not at all! When I did use to suture routinely it was a X suture to help preserve the plug - but unless ot was a very tricky extraction or multiple adjacent teeth, I have not found an issue without a suture

@@protrusive Thanks so much for the response, I'll have to try being a bit less militant about it and see how the recoveries compare!
Could you please clarify about the speed increasing handpieces…if they are not powered by air so where do you connect them to ?
A micromotor- I'll get my team to post a link to a recent video we did on this
Hi Rosane! Here's the link to the speed increasing handpieces video: th-cam.com/video/oE24hY5ehJE/w-d-xo.html
