They are dressed to represent the characters of the film. Kirstie is Nala, Kevin is Simba, Mitch is Zazu, Scott is Timon and Matt is Pumba.

Yeah, Pentatonix is great at letting you think you have your favorite songs…until you listen to one you haven’t heard & it changes…again. I’ve given up choosing favorites. I love they way they’re costumed as the characters. Of course Mitch would be Zazu 😊. Great reaction. Can’t wait to see your next “new favorite”!

Hello Salvo G, At last!!! This is one of PTX masterpiece covers - bringing out all their A Capella skills and signature PTX sounds.. Matt so warm at the beginning. Scott so raspy and with his riffs. Kevin driving that beat and all those drums sounds. Kirstie so sharp and belting. Mitchell with those beautiful ethereal sounds at the beginning, his smooth perfection on his verse, his vocalizations, and then taking off into the stratosphere on those high notes ,with runs and vibratos. "Please go off, please go off" -- I laughed when you said that -- he didn't go off then, but boy were you in for a surprise. The harmonies. The vocalizations. The videography. Pure Pentatonix Perfection - yet again. There is a Behind The Scenes for the making of this video which is good fun to watch. Loved your reaction and the re-winds. More, more PTX please. You still have about 150 songs to go!

In between regular notes they fill in with more notes. They do not stop singing. I would be exhausted after each song. That's why their sound is so full.

PTX is so good, it makes you want to cry.
At 3:36 in your video, Mitch had the high soaring line, Kirstie an alto supporting harmony, and Scott, Matt and Kevin were doing the plucked string dm, dm, dm chord under it all. Five part harmony. As others have mentioned, the collective sings the song, and the best voice for the particular line presents it.
Personally, i think this is one of the times a song "sings" through the collective that is Pentatonix.

this arrangement is so amazing, simply for the fact that they did so many key changes in such a short amount of time. they are such masters of their craft and they are still making great music today. great reaction Sal! ❤

The arrangement represents the progression of a day, from the calm early morning growing through midday; a short siesta where the heat of noon makes the sounds seem distant and echo-y; then the wild afternoon hunt that finally gives way to the long slow fade that ends a summer day. Their ability to convey such vivid images just through vocal arrangement is incredible.
You started with "I hope this can live up to [Shallow]", and I just thought: Bruh, you know better than that. 😂
This is one of my top 5 favorite PTX upgrades. I absolutely love the line at the end where they sing “the world in perfect harmony “ while singing in perfect harmony!
I thought they needed Scott's whoa at the end. He tethers Mitch, otherwise Mitch would have floated away on those high notes.

You are just adorable tonight with this! I could maybe come up with a Top Five or Ten that would be current and correct for about a day and a half. By then I would have listened to other songs that deserve a place on the list and I would have to revise it. And then again two days later, etc. I do love this one and I think Kirstie has never looked more beautiful. Their cover is so lush and full and luscious. You waited for a real gem with this video. It’s a hoot to look back at your introduction to ptx. If I recall you mentioned that this must not be a group from America, Mitch’s voice could not be real, the base and beat box were tweaked and now look at you….ptx all the way. Lol

I always appreciate the arrangements of groups like this. But the vocals are way overprocessed. Sounds like a midi file. The sad thing is they'd sound just as good 0r better without that whacked our synthetic production.
I see what you mean about the production, although it is quite pleasing to my own ear. I don’t know if it’s that they are trying to sound like mainstream pop instead of traditional accapella. I have no idea how much of that is their own choise, but on the Lucky Ones album they played with layering and effects very openly.
