I just turned 30, have an amazing girlfriend a cat and a dog. It's a good life, but it's far from what my life used to be. Turning 30 hit me pretty hard when I realized just how "normal" life has become after being crazier than most from my teens to my mid twenties, so now I'm trying to figure out how to spice things up at least a little before it gets too far and I become complacent. A pertinent tale, I struggle with this enemy every day as well. The enemy is called learned helplessness, and it is the bane of my generation, and it is a fearsome foe indeed. A swirling miasma of doubt and fear, and it gains strength from my weakness. An interesting conundrum indeed, but as long as I can write the comment, we know that I haven't given up yet. "If you can name your enemy, you gain power over it," turns out to be more than a cheesy line from a fantasy novel after all.

the generation is not the cause, but they do demand it. learned helplessness is a requirement in some societies. it’s the primer for authoritarianism, totalitarianism, oligarchy, communism, etc. i say communism because the individual doesn’t exist/isn’t important. the individual can not achieve any form of personal success without the states blessing, so they don’t even try.

I can't do much physically these days but my mind can do plenty. I can relate a lot with the angle. I've been climbing out of the same pit and learning that there is plenty to life, to live happily.
I have recently been diagnosed with Meniere's Disease and it has changed my life completely. Nothing is the be same, but you know what? It's just a different adventure to explore. It's ok to change.

I've been diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy. My C-fiber nerves are dying. My doctor's can't figure out what's causing the nerve damage. My nerves that feel heat are dying. I feel cold in temperatures below 80°F. It causes me to feel a constant aching pain in all my muscles as well as muscle cramps. Lyrica helps to dull the pain. I fatigue quickly now. C-fiber nerves are tied to your sweat glands, so those are also dying off as well.
I'm 4 years into this and I'm only in my 30's. I can sympathize with you on how life can suddenly change. It took me a few years talking to a councilor to come to terms with it. I've gotten used to the pain. The worst part is feeling cold when everyone else is comforting. I have to cover every inch of my skin (not my face) so I can tolerate 75°F. I'm blessed to be able to work from home most days. I can keep my home office at a comfortable for me 80°F. My kid's don't like it when I try to turn the heat up in the house. I have to bundle up in my own home.

Mini update: I thought Ménière's Disease was my only complication but apparently not. They're testing me for bone/blood cancer and genetic disorders now. So far, the scary stuff has been coming back negative but I still don't have answers either so that's both a good and bad thing.
I have the opposite issue with temperature actually. I wish we could trade half of our issue to each other and then we would both feel temperature normally again. 😅 I experience everything else you mentioned (medically) though.

My doctors feel that something triggered all the changes in my body because everything that has been found is
secondary issues...the results of something bigger. Anything could have triggered them; even a simple virus or extreme stress can be triggers.
The latest information is that my dermatologist feels I have chronic hives which is still one of those secondary issues. I have tried two different treatments that haven't shown any improvement.
I do have a treatment that is working for my Meniere's Disease and my migraines so that is awesome.
Mentally, I'm doing a lot better. I've just been treating myself as a case study and that works. 😅
Still can't get out of bed without turning funky colors, getting a fever and tachycardia but I have been finding things I can still do.
When the pain (full body burning sensation and bone pain) is so bad that I can't do anything, that's when I treat myself like a case study. Taking videos, pictures, documenting signs and symptoms, watch for patterns, possible triggers and record data in general.

You too listen to Lighthouse and Dr. Creepen? We do too. Lighthouse is our absolute favorite. But, we do like listening to Creepen. Both narrators are just great. We can't stand some of these guys with the millions of subscribers. It's hard to understand how they have the subscribers that they have. Unfathomable really... I know that they have had more years to gather subscribers, but still...
And another thing, we have found out that two very large narrators here on TH-cam have done nearly unspeakable things. One literally attempted to greedily Trademark or Copyright the very term "Creepypasta" 🤬🤬🤬, which belongs to us all. Another, with almost the same name, stands accused of GROOMING a 12 years-young _little girl_ 🤬🤢🤮🤯🤬🤬🤬 and we believe the victim, of course. That narrator has the term "creeps" in it, and now we can't hear him narrate anything at all les we literally get the actual creeps 🥶🥶🥶. It's pretty weird. We definitely don't like that sorta "creeps" and avoid it as best as we can.
We still get TH-cam recommending them in our feeds 😩. We keep telling TH-cam that we are "Not Interested" in hopes of not seeing the recommendations from the two narrators we avoid so that our Autoplay doesn't accidentally play a video from them. TH-cam needs a feature to let you actually block videos from any user that you want from appearing on a feed. It's hard to understand why that feature hasn't ever really been an option. We have only ever seen it if it's on our HOME feed, it just says "Don't Recommend This Channel" or something like that... Other than just that, a video having to appear on the Home feed, we know our no other way to stop seeing unwanted recommendations... So if anyone knows another way, our eyes and ears are open to you.
And we need to stop being lazy and go through our playlists and delete all their videos... There's so many stories to sort.
So sorry for such a long comment...
We love you Lighthouse, and for anyone here listening to you, out LH brothers and sisters, we love y'all too! 💋❤️

When she was pregnant with me she noticed a scent around the house, but no matter how hard she looked, she couldn't find the source. It was always when she was alone, Dad had just started a new job and they hadn't moved closer yet. She told her aunt about it and was told that it was her grandfather looking over the two of us (the smell was Bay Rum, his aftershave). She talked to Dad about it and he had been smelling it too, but hadn't brought it up to her because he didn't want to freak her out. When they finally moved he popped in a couple more times, the last time was right after I was born.
After my sister was born 4 years later, I woke up to see a man in his Sunday best floating next to my bed. He didn't have feet, or a face, but he seemed familiar. Terrified 3 year old me pulled my blanket over my head and told him to go away, and when I saw he had left I went screaming into my parents room. I was panicking, thinking they wouldn't believe me, so I was talking, crying, and almost hyperventilating trying to make them understand it wasn't just a dream. She couldn't understand a word I was saying so she had me draw what I saw. When she saw who I'd drawn she told me the first time Grandpa Munro had visited us and explained he just looked out for us.

This story was amazing. You really did a great job putting me at least, into the story. I think i figured it out. What i think your readings do the best, is that the inflection of how you read, me in the story. No matter how left the story turns, it takes me with it because of the war you present the story. Well written story, amazing narration

This is why you’re my favorite content creator. You pick beautiful stories and breathe true life in them. You’re narration made this such an emotional ride for me, it made the story really immersive and real. This was a really inspiring experience. You’re so talented and you really know how to pick ‘em. Thank you.
Edit: Omg and I forgot your narrated the story about the Tartarus shop. That story inspired a whole 20th level d&d module for me. It got me feeling creative, my favorite video on TH-cam to date. Thank you for the gems!!!

I think one of the things I like most about this story, is that living a fulfilling, adventurous life didn't mean 'do extreme, dangerous stuff'. Sometimes it honestly just means breaking from a hindering rut or routine.
Ride a bike to work instead of driving, jog a new path at the park, schedule 'just because' time with friends and family.
    What a wonderful story.

I can listen to this guy over and over again. I usually remember stories I've heard too well to hear them again, but I listen to so many that I forget the earlier ones and can once again enjoy the same stories. I am certain there will be a third time listening to this, as so many others. His voice is so smooth and calming. His way of telling stories is captivating and full of life. I get caught in the animation and emotions. I just love it. Amazing ♥

This was actually quite wholesome! As someone who's dealt with a lot of social anxiety throughout middle and high school, this really hit close to home. I remembered being bored and longing to be a part of everyone else's world, but my anxiety held me back so much to the point where speaking up alone would make me want to cry. I've changed a lot since then and I can safely say that I'm a lot happier and more confident than ever before. I'm exactly the person I want to be! This story holds a lot of truth to it.

Hey, I hope you can see this. This is something I’ve been meaning to comment on your videos for a while now, like months ago, after like my first couple of listens to your narrations like the train story and man in the basement, but I never had the nerve but your voice acting for this stories is really exceptional and I think shows the emotions in the story really well. I think you are really underrated and I think it’s ridiculous because the popular creepy pasta reading channels out there don’t imo even come close to articulating the story as well as you do and don’t sound as nice. It really doesn’t make sense to me that you don’t even come close to having the same level of recognition that they do because to me you narrate so much better than them and your videos sound so much better. I love your narrations. I think you deserve so much more recognition than the big three popular creepypasta channels. I don’t understand why it sounds like the quality of their narrations haven’t changed at all and all that’s different is that they got a better microphone despite being around for I think twice as long as your channel. Now on to the main reason I’m commenting. Can you tell me what song you used at around 26:38 please? I like it. Thx
