A consuming terror borne not of bodily fear like fleeing a starved beast, but the maddening feeling of wrapping one's mind about the terror a thing that cannot be vanquished or understood. A masterpiece of malignancy, Inferno's dreadful abyss, and Madness' Maw. This is perfect horror.

    The reason why i heard this podcast was cause i remember once when i was like 6 we lived in an area which was extremely deserted and around mountains and trees and alot of wild life. My mother doesn't really believes in ghosts though she still thinks that there are things in this world beyond our understanding. One day at the twilight me and my siblings 1 sister and 1 brother who were 1 year older then the other with me being the youngest played outside like we always did. note that we didn't have any houses surrounding our place besides one other where a family of farmers lived which was around the mountain a bit far from us to the far left of the of our house across the hill and there were thick trees behind our house extended on either sides being the house and a field beside it a little highr then ground level. We were laughing and pushing eachother as we played around the house close to the trees at the time one could hear loud cricket sounds from the trees that's when we heard our mother call my sisters name it was odd cause my mother would often call her another nickname my father had given her (which I'm not gonna mention) though it wasn't that unusual. My sister shouted back asking what happened at this time my brother had run up the hill in front of the house. We thought she must have called us but we ignored and kept playing that is when we heard her call my sister's name again same voice same pitch, Exactly the same manner this time we stopped and quietly and listed as the voice called one more time in the EXACT same manner and the exact same words, Her name. We quietly listened and realized the voice didn't come from the house but from behind, The trees. We being the kids didn't take it too serious but we got scared for sure. I somehow had the urge to go close to the forest though as I asked my sister she resisted none of us showed signs that we can continuesly hear the name call ignoring it, realizing It wasn't actually my mother who was calling though the voice was hers but our expressions showed the fact that we both could clearly hear it and yet could not make sense of why, we heard the voice called her name one more time this time relatively low in loudness yet somehow it felt louder and aggressive and desperate idk maybe the stress made it sound like that but the exact same manner we were spooked and called to our brother on the hill telling him to come home quickly not explaining the reason and ran back in as if we were being chased by wasps in the house we asked eachother if we had heard the same thing and confirmed that indeed we heard our mom call my sister's name a few times from the woods in the same manner with the voice having a slight echo in the hills though our mother was in the kitchen cooking. our brother returned in shortly and we stopped talking about it. a few days ago my sister brought up this centuries old experience which stuck me and i visibly remembered but yet decided to reply with a sharp no saying that i don't remember anything of the sort and that nothing like that had ever happened refusing to admit to the fact that i remembered and worst believed it was true.

    • @jackdare
      @jackdare 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's the 'reasonable' explanation, the comfortable answer we can accept without fear of going mad. However, the way the story's written also leaves open the possibility of some eldritch horror he has some kinda symbiotic relationship with, something he's been.. feeding ;)
      One clue that points to an outside entity is the way 'it' keeps referring to him as "Sam Stewart of Marigold Street," a slightly alien way of addressing him, reminiscent of the way an intelligence more familiar with a hive mind or swarm societal structure might identify individuals. Hopefully that makes sense 😂
