  • In this video, I will walk you through the process and tools used to pull a steel and graphite golf shaft properly. Don't worry; I got you, you can do this at home with very minimal effort. You can remove the shaft using a shaft puller and a butane torch or heat gun. The techniques are relatively simple, and once you pull a couple, you will be a shaft pulling machine.
    Tools used:
    GolfWorks Shaft Extractor: amzn.to/32Ddvw7
Honing Wire Brush for Cleaning Out Hosels: amzn.to/32lHGaV
    Butane Micro Torch: amzn.to/2Qqi5bf
    Heat Gun: amzn.to/3lrs2Ua
Awl with 3-1/2-Inch Shank and Cushion Grip: amzn.to/32sTY10
    Heavy-Duty Utility Vice: amzn.to/2YOORHN

How’s it going man. 2 questions for you:
    1) if there’s a tip weight in the iron do you save it or just use a new one?
    2) is it better to use a heat gun or a torch on graphite? I’ve tried both but just curious
    Thanks for the great vids!

A heat gun is always better on graphite, it might be easy to mess some stuff up with the torch unless you did it a ton. I always use a new tip weight because you will probably be using the shaft on a different head or vice verse. The wight will be different probably.

Are you heating the club head part, ferrule, or both?
Also can you reuse the ferrules?
I like the Dynamic Gold XP sticker on the extractor. Once again Great educational video. I’m learning a lot from your videos and IG posts.

I am heating the hosel and for the most part, I use new ferrules. You can save the ferrule. You can use this stuff call heat shield.

that's is correct only use a heat gun on graphite unless you've been working on clubs for a while. I mainly use a heat gun on graphite I think I said that in the video somewhere.

One more question lol how did you learn how to rebuild clubs?

I love to answer this question. I did a couple of things. First, I read a ton of big thick books cover to cover on how to build golf clubs. Then I ask several old school club makers hundreds of questions. I straight up cold-called a couple of folks. Borderline harassment lol. Then I just started building. I f@%ked up a bunch of clubs in the process, but I learned a lot. Hell, I'm still learning new stuff to this day. I went from building clubs for my friends to building clubs for people I never met before. I learn restoration from reading and watching a ton of videos on metalworking and how to restore cars. Lol, but yea, it's true. I don't take on as much work as I could, I actually like making videos, debunking myths, and working on my own clubs. I always tell folk I will build the best club you ever had in life but if you want it fast, don't come to me. I started a TH-cam page just to share the knowledge.
Here is the motto I live by:
I have taught many people how to build
Some have built more than other
Some said they rather someone build for them
Some past me in the process and are better clubbuilder than me
But at the end of it all
I know I'm not hiding the game from anyone
And I'm passing knowledge down to the next person.
