    The Fuji XH2 has been my work horse camera since it came out (wedding, commercial, short films). I absolutely love it for what it does. From photo to video it’s outstanding.
    I’ve used an A74 for work, and put the XH2 above it for performance.
    But I hate it as a travel camera lol. The size and weight and expense (if broken or stolen). To me it’s a great machine for professional work. But unfortunately it gets left at home on vacations.

    Technically pixel shift doesn't tilt. It moves laterally in a single plane. Tilting would cause artefacts and out of focus images.
    Also size != resolution. It's just semantics, but "highest resolution crop sensor" would be more accurate than "largest crop sensor".

    • @tobiasgvenus

      Fair point! Will remember that next time I talk sensor size/resolution

    • @AlexanderPK
      @AlexanderPK ปีที่แล้ว

      I might be mistaken, but I believe XH2 quite literally had the largest crop sensor - although still a crop sensor, the dimensions on it are bigger than any other crop sensor cameras

    I purchased my X-H2 a couple of months ago 2nd hand for £200 less than a new X-T5 I originally intended purchasing from the store.
    I did so, despite reservations regarding the "flippy" screen and the more "conventional" PASM controls.
    I've been a Fuji X user since 2013, and have owned various XT & XPro cameras, most recently X-T3 which was sold to finance the X-H2.
    I'm not a videographer and by rights the X-T5 should be a better fit for my kind of photography, however in the shop the X-T5 just didn't feel so solid and although the familiar (to me) controls etc. felt right the overall quality and particularly the EVF ( I wear glasses), was not on the same level as the X-H2.
    Furthermore, I guess because I have big hands, the larger bodied X-H2 seemed to fit better, and yes although heavier, the larger Tele zooms balanced better on the camera, and I enjoyed using the controls (after suitable customisation) and altogether I was reminded of pre Fuji X days, with my Nikon D700/D4.
    To my surprise I now also enjoy living with the "flippy" LCD screen and don't miss most of the other "traditional" X-T features although I think I would have preferred the top camera layout of the X-H1 - well you can't have everything! John Greenwood

    Came from an Xt2 to Xh2, what blown me away was how much better the Jpegs were, many of them I could not make better with raw in post. That 5 gen processer is a game changer. Once thing though The lesser settings without jpegs, screen closed the better the AF. If you want flawless AF do this. I'm really on the fence with these. On one hand I REALLY hate the PASM Dial and overall dial/button layout of the X-H2 and I've been using the X-T series for years now anway. But on the other hand, I still have to produce high quality video and the X-T5 just doesn't compare to the X-H2 in video features. Also, I'll miss the battery grip on the X-T5.

    I hate my xh2s buttons but the camera performs well so I'm not throwing it out the window for now, the worst thing is the back dial not being customisable for iso, who the hell supposed to care about the aperture dial on the body if there's a ring on the lens, this choice was really really dumb by them

      Whats confusing? If you want to keep the dials over pasm the XT5 is for you. What you don't get for 300.00 less in the XT5 is a smaller size less grip. No full size HDMI, Lesser EVF screen resolution, no CF EXPRESS option, less video buffering, no 8k video.
      What you do get is 40mp sensor flip up screen, and dials. For your money you gain less features of the XT4. They could have given it a full HDMI, and at least a Cfexpress slot for 1699.00. Cfexpress is the future that allows for faster burst shooting and video. For 300.00 more the only downside of the XH2 is PASM buttons. Flip up screen subjective only if you are a pure stills shooter mainly.
      Chris at pal2tech was bummed out over no Cfexpress or full HDMI.

No. I am actually happy using my X-T4 and even my normal 'Go-to' X-Pro2 that I use every weekend in London for street photography. However, I loved the features of the X-T5 and I love the look of the X-H2 so I thought, 'Why not? Now I am looking forward to using the X-H2 this weekend.

      XH2s - without a doubt. The XH2 has horrible rolling shutter for photos that have any kind of movement in them. And the AF is not as good as the XH2s, by a large margin. And finally, the xh2 gets way noisier at higher ISO’s. I found I can’t really use it past 1600 without introducing a lot of noise. It’s not always a deal breaker, but if you need a cleaner image, the XH2s is much cleaner past 1600 and up to 6400.

  • @mshohman

    Great vid, thanks - you mention that the autofocus on the x-H2 is not as good as the x-H2s. Can you elaborate more on this? How are they different? I am happy with 15fps with the mech shutter and the massive buffer with the CFExpress, so from view, for me, the only advantage for Sports with the x-H2s is the autofocus. Trying to understand how it outperforms the x-H2 for sports and events - thanks!!

    • @tobiasgvenus
      @tobiasgvenus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wasn't able to do a direct comparison so it's only anecdotal sorry! It might be worth searching for X-H2S vs X-H2 videos on TH-cam.
      From my testing the autofocus on this is likely good enough for most use-cases. I never had any issues with it.

      @fAffY7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically both cameras have really high end autofocus systems but the S in X-H2s stands for speed, the camera with it's stacked sensor straight up processes and shoots things way faster, allowing for faster bursts and quicker autofocus processing

    I just got my hands on an XT5 and it looks great with the retro design and dials. That being said, I managed to get a feel of the XH2 in the store and it felt much more comfortable and better to grip - more natural in my hands.
    I’m new to Fuji and photography so I don’t know if dials or PASM will be better for me as as a beginner to learning photography. I do understand why still focused shooters would prefer the tilt screen, but I also feel that the articulating screen is more versatile and being able to rotate it inwards to protect the screen when not in use is a bonus.
    If you have the chance to trade the XT5 for the XH2 without topping up any cash, would you do it? (Someone I’m talking to is looking to trade his XH2 for XT5)

    I might be the odd one out but cosmetically this camera doesn't really ooze quality. It's very plastic and doesn't feel great in the hand. Ergonomically, for me at least, I have to hold it in a weird position to see through the viewfinder and my finger isn't automatically on the shutter release either. It's hard to explain but makes sense when I pick up my X-T2 and it just feels better.

    Fuji are really good at making you think that their cameras are better than they really are.
    You can increase body size, add every feature you want, you are still stuck with the APS-C image. Owning both a fuji and Nikon Z, the difference is night and day in the details you get and the color depth. Full frame will give you this more "organic" feel that APS-C can't achieve. Am I saying that I always prefer the images from my Nikon ? Not at all, thanks to fuji colors.
    But this doesn't change the fact that Fuji is selling APS-C cameras at the price of good full frame alternatives.
