    This is such a helpful video. When I was learning beginner method I subconsciously learnt algorithms by following one piece on the cube (breaking and then fixing the pattern) and just completely took it for granted that I should do that to learn new algorithms!

    Beginner advice…the algorithm at 2:34 is used for corners but there are several cases addressed later at 7:00. Watch that FIRST before wasting time memorizing the algorithm like I did. Also U is clock wise and U2 is twice counter clockwise …. I guess that is an error? U’2? Or I guess U2 in either direction achieves the same goal?…headlights reference 13:47 No headlights just do the long algo once to create them.

      My fav is (R' U L') U2 (R U' R') U2 (R L). Fast, memorisable, great for muscle memory. Headlights should be in front side - so easy to find: just turn U untill you see them and then start.
      In no headlights case you just do single U and repeat the algo.

    hey man, you are doing the sune algorthithm to pretty much solve the 4 corners, are there other algorithms to learn or are you getting your 8 second average by using the methods youre teaching in this video?

    • @criticalcubing
      @criticalcubing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm using full CMLL for getting the faster solves. It's like 40 algorithms that you have to learn separately, which will solve the corners in 1 step instead of doing one alg over and over. 1 alg approach is more for beginners, instead of being full Roux.

    Can you give an algorithm which is shorter in permuting the corners

    • @rcgldr
      @rcgldr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's shorter if you permute them before orienting them. It's a 9 or 10 turn sequence with the only difference being the 5th turn and 10th turns. Corner orientation is the same as in video (doesn't swap them). See if the two corners with orange are adjacent and if so, face them towards you. (should be facing you already). Otherwise, the two corners with green will be adjacent, and turn the puzzle so the two green corners face you. Look at the color of the corners. The corners may already be in place, the front two swapped, the rear two swapped, or both front and back swapped.
      Front swapped ---------------- L' U' L F U F' L' U L U2
      Rear swapped ---------------- L' U' L F U' F' L' U L U2
      Front and rear swapped - L' U' L F U2 F' L' U L

  • @vincentgledhill4777
    @vincentgledhill4777 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    At 18:00 minutes in, you don't have headlights, but have the corners oriented correctly. This is a diagonal corner swap, and can be swapped in one move with ( F R U' R' U' R U R' F') ( R U R' U' R' F R F')

  • @mrhk057
    @mrhk057 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

  • @rcgldr
    @rcgldr 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's shorter if you permute corners before orienting them. It's a 9 turn sequence with the only difference being the 5th turn. Corner orientation is the same as in video (doesn't swap them). See if the two corners with orange are adjacent and if so, face them towards you (use U turn). Otherwise, the two corners with green will be adjacent so face them towards you (use U turn). Look at the color of the corners. If orange corners face you, green should be on left and blue should be on right. If green corners face you, red should be on left, orange should be on right. The corners may already be in place, the front two swapped, the rear two swapped, or both front and back swapped.
    Front swapped ---------------- L' U' L F U F' L' U L
    Rear swapped ---------------- L' U' L F U' F' L' U L
    Front and rear swapped - L' U' L F U2 F' L' U L
    This is a turn pattern that I figured out on my own back when Rubik's cube was first sold in the 1980's. You could also mirror the moves using R moves instead of L moves.
    Front swapped ---------------- R U R' F' U' F R U' R'
    Rear swapped ---------------- R U R' F' U F R U' R'
    Front and rear swapped - R U R' F' U2 F R U' R

      There is some very important information he left out. This move is called the SUNE. The Sune takes 3 of the corners and turns them clockwise. These would be the back left, the back right, and the front right. You want to orient the face so that when you do this move, only ONE corner comes up yellow. Once you have done this, position the yellow up cube in the front left. You should only have to do the Sune a maximum of two times to get the rest oriented. If the Sune doesn't work on the 2nd try, make sure you orient the yellow up cube to the front left corner and do the Sune again.

    Hi Everyone,
    I have run into a confusing position as I was trying to solve first part to have yellow corners oriented on the top face.
    I solved the first two blocks (Green on the left face and Blue on the right face).
    I got a one corner case. As it was mentioned in the video, I positioned it in the UFL buffer place. Did the algo once. RUR'URU2R'. In the video, he gets only corner with yellow facing on top always when he executes the algo.
    When I executed once, I got three corners with yellow facing on top and I am stranded at the position now. Not sure how to proceed.
    Also in a new solve, I got zero corners with yellow facing top. I tried to position the yellow facing front in the UFL position as he shows. But however I rotate, I don't get a corner with yellow facing front. On the contrary, I am getting yellow facing front in the UFR position which is very weird. I am not sure how to proceed on that one too..
    Any assistance on this would be very helpful..
    Thanks in advance
