  • This will be my last upload from their fantastic 2004 Live at Wolf Trap concert. If you want more, please buy the DVD. "Without you" is one of their best performances and what you're about to see is rock at its best. Perfect vocal harmony combined with masterly guitar solos. A musical thunderstorm.

I didn't recognize the name of this song, but then clicked on it and then I remembered it.....it's such a high to discover a song like this, that I really haven't heard since it came out in the early 70's! I feel like a found a piece of gold! Thanks for posting this song! Brings back good memories and simpler times, for sure.

Not just the best American band then and now, these guys have raised over 2 mil with benefit concerts for veterans foundations since 1987 reunion. Much of that thanks to late drummer Keith Knudsen. Love you, bro.

Agreed. Tom Johnson totally rocked out on that show, before he got sick. Nice to see him back and looking and sounding good. Thanks to Michael McDonald for filling in for many years - a talented singer, but Johnson was and is the heart of the rocking sound of the Doobies.

What a great rocker from the great Doobie Brothers! My first rock album, was The Captain and Me, and I would play this album over and over! It had a great balance of rockers and softer, great stuff! Well, buying the album, saved me money in the long run, because I was wasting all my change in the jukebox at the local pizza store! What fun, innocent days, when life was sorta like The Wonder Years show, my favorite show! The doobie Brothers forever! Peace, BobbyK

Was that an invite? Been a Doobies fan for decades now. Never really listen to lyrics(always about waking up, feeling bad, lost love, found love etc), the musicianship in the Doobie ftraternity has never been less than exemplarary. Love them to bits. Sort of love you too, bless your cottn pickin' socks x

Played this track to a friend years ago, (circa 1978), he'd never heard of them up till then, his music being Stones, Hendrix, Clapton , Deep Purple, etc, ( nuthin' bad 'bout that), two minutes in, it nearly blew him out the window, it still has that effect on me too, even now, class A band, real rock'n'rollers, love there music to bits.

Yes, Skylark is still recovering from his stroke. Marc Russo is their incredible sax player. Their current bassist is John Cowan. Cowan is a returning member of the Doobies, having been their bassist from 1993-1995. The Doob's bass players: Dave Shogren (1970-72); Tiran Porter (1972-80, 1982-92); Willie Weeks (1980-82, 1993); John Cowan (1993-95, 2010-present); Skylark (1993-2010)

Listen to how thoughtful the parts are - the bass never just copying the guitar, the space in the verses where it breaks to a capella - I could go on and on.

Ironically, Tom J and Mike Mc have the same musical roots, yet their songs are so different. During live performances when both are on stage one's attention tends to focus on Tommy. Tommy gives the band grit & energy and Michael gives it some polish. I wished Tom J wouldv'e stuck around in the late 70's to balance things out.
