i dont understand why people who commit crimes against cops get these hefty long ass sentences. any cop who COMMITS CRIME, should be held to the same standard as citizens for their crimes, but if anything different at all, worse, because they have taken oaths to protect the community. what an absolutely shameful and broken justice system we have.

I have completely lost my trust in the criminal justice system of our country. It is broken and corrupt. The fact that this sheriff has the public's trust and he trampled all over it, leaving a path of destruction in his wake, is reason enough to give the maximum sentence on each count. 12 years isn't enough for what this greedy mofo did. And on top of everything, he has no remorse. Apologizing to his family instead of the people he really screwed over. Crocodile tears for him being caught and not the pain he has caused.

To the female firefighter that testified- Thank you for your service. I too am a Firefighter of 10years serving still. Our stories are so similar. I too pulled a partner deceased from their home as we were first on scene and I also was made to assist the county coroner in removing him for transport to the funeral home. I have also pulled a 7 year old boy deceased from The Tug River on Christmas Day 2019. I had just had the same child choose me to hug at his schools toy drive 2 weeks prior to the incident. After all we have done and all we have seen.. I have gotten no help with mental health and trauma. People don’t understand… we take the trauma so others don’t have to.. someone has to do it.. and we stepped up to serve our communities… and for the most part.. our communities do not understand nor care. Know this sister… I care about you and every other family member in our First Responder Family. I understand what we do scars us and only those with the scars understand those with the scars. May GOD Bless all First Responders Everywhere 💯

This guy's greed literally effected other people's lives. It's just astonishing to see the impact of one person's greed. All the citizens thought that they were paying a portion of every paycheck for town services. But in reality they were funding this guy's lifestyle! Meanwhile the townspeople were literally suffering and having to go without essential services. The negative effects of his actions trickled down to effect every single person in this town. This is a good example of why one person shouldn't have so much consolidated power. He had way too much power. It's also a good example of why it's important to have proper oversight over every department. No oversight was being conducted here. If there was someone to conduct oversight than whoever was supposed to be in charge should have to answer for their lack of action. Let this be a lesson to us all, if you see something, say something. Ask questions. Be involved in your community. Know where your dollars are going. Not all taxes are bad. But it should be known what the taxes are going towards.

So in this county did the sheriff do everything for the fire department and ems? They don’t or didn’t have their own command and everything? Here our county sheriff don’t make those kind of decisions for our fire department and stuff

He owned an EMS Ambulance company which he was taking money from - the New Chapel EMS - which he ran out of business because he was stealing funds from them.

While I appreciate how this effected all those involved I did not appreciate the political comments made. Is this a political issue or a moral issue? Additionally his Attorney's are a huge joke. They both have been seen for many years grandstanding in a court room on some of the most hideous cases.

How incredibly sad this whole situation is and the domino effect his actions have had on so many people. The reality of prison is the only thing that's running through his mind as these people speak their hurt. Don't worry Jamey, Medicare covers colostomy supplies.

EMT services are not a right, they are a privilege. Nobody should be held legally liable or responsible for saving your sorry ass. Next person I see that needs help is getting laughed at and walked on by because of this case.

How bout Mr. sweets fiancé, then mother sharing the same story about his awful passing, but in 2 completely different descriptions.
Just goes to show how different each persons perspective can be.
