- Michael Moore celebrates our country’s birthday week by going after the Supreme Court and suggesting ways to remove the Justices who have perjured themselves, been caught talking huge sums of money from billionaires and how all six right wing Justices have committed various ethical and financial infractions - but have not been sanctioned or removed. Oh, they’ve also taken wholesale rights away from women, the LGBTQ+ community and people of color. Plus, they’ve gutted the EPA, expanded gun “rights,” and killed Biden’s student loan debt relief plan.
The Supreme Court is now the most disliked and distrusted government institution in the land. Michael goes over how their removal of the Roe v Wade decision has the vast majority of the country against them now. And enough of the righties on the court are worried about their “legacy” or their possible removal from the court. The more we organize against them, the better it will get. Time to rock this not-so-supreme boat.

I am a cellular biochemical/biophysics scientist to has chosen to teach kindergarten in a very red rural Oregon logging town. So, as you can guess, I have to keep my political views concealed and choose my words and timing very carefully.
Here is an example of the local mentality. I am a 64-yr old, straight and ultra liberal woman. I celebrate the magical physics of light and the joy of rainbows every day with my students.
Last year, my school's administration decided that 2 old growth maple trees that grew outside of a wall of my classroom, that was 90% glass, needed to be removed, because they dropped leaves on the roof.
I consequently hung up rainbow colored curtains to provide shade for my students and lower the energy usage now required for air conditioning. This wall also faces the parent parking lot.
A few weeks later, a relative of one of our students angrily complained to the Principal that it was unacceptable that I was promoting LGBTQ rights. ¡¡¡Inconceivable!!!
I was then told that if I rearranged the curtains so that they were no longer in rainbow order, the matter would be resolved.
This sort of radical right wing attitude is one of the reasons that I now choose to teach the precious loving little souls that will soon enough be our leaders. My goal is not only to introduce them to reading, writing, math, science, etc., but more importantly to love to learn and to plant seeds of empathy and non-judgment towards their fellow beings. All beings!
So please, keep up your ESSENTIAL and EXCELLENT work!

Thank you, Michael. I came here to receive some insight and I got it. You and Rachel Maddow have a great deal in common, delving deeply, explaining your views, educating me on things that I didn't know yet. It is a service to mankind.
When was the last time we gave the dems a clear majority in the house and senate? When we did, we did get major legislation(Obamacare), The suggestions that the dems are weak, is not exactly fair. Mitch McConnel did not allow the Merrick Garland to come to a vote in the senate because thats why you need not just focus on winning the whitehouse but the house and senate.
People must vote 🗳️ for the country is to survive as a democracy. 51 is no longer a winning vote in congress. Dems need ten red votes to pass most bills in the Senate

I believe that there will be changes to these cultural matters. We will find choice for women and their bodies again. We need a big Blue💙💙💙wave, and we can do it. I can’t stand gerrymandering. I live in Missouri, the land of Democratic Pendergast regime. But now we have no Democratic Party in Missouri. What happened here. Harry Truman was an asshole. He dropped the bomb, but study history. He was right about it and it was hard and he set the Democrats up for a damn fine landslide.

Ensuring that children grow up learning the truth about our history and understanding how American government operates is crucial to ensuring we remain a democracy. Most people aren’t engaged in politics. Everyone is responsible to do the work of change. Speak up for those who are struggling. Call congresspeople. Volunteer. Women are severely underrepresented in America.

That's correct there is no "standing". And the case was not "ripe". These two fundamental constitutional safeguards are taught every law student, and standing and ripeness has been in most every bar exam.

The #1 thing , the most important component, that this society has sorely been lacking, ever since the founding of this nation, is a dedicated body of citizens whose sole purpose is to bring about and proliferate a New Era of Enlightenment. The next upcoming chapter in Modern History, the Age of Complete Reason and Completed Progress. The only way that we could reobtain the reigns of this country and steer the course towards the best possible path is if we try something that we've never truly committed to trying before: completely embodying what it means to become a champion of reason. Assembling a group, body, or organization of ordinary citizens whose main efforts is to do anything and everything it takes to commence a nationwide movement to motivate the American People to push themselves, their minds, and their levels of cooperation to their absolute limits.

Instead, it is their votes which are put on medias so that people can remember what they did and that will kick them out of office. I really appreciate your ability to maintain hope but the fact that we are in this mess because the Democrats are so incredibly weak is extremely disheartening. Even if they regain the majority in the Senate and the House, I highly doubt that they will seek impeachment and even if they did, they wouldn't be successful. Honestly, I haven't felt hopeful since Bernie ran in 2016 :( The best we can hope for at this point is to wait for Alito and Thomas to age out. But upon further listening, I am more than excited about my son turning 18 next year and going out and voting with his peers! These Zoomers are smart cookies with progressive leanings. I can't wait for them to start voting! Hopefully the Democrats will grow some guts.
1) Moore's understanding of the ruling about businesses being able to refuse certain tasks is mistaken. A business can't generally refuse gay clients; it can can only refuse a task that makes the business express a view the owner opposes. So a Jewish baker can't refuse all gentile customers, can't refuse to bake a cake but can refuse to write "Hitler was right" on a cake, is my understanding.
2) Supreme Court didn't outlaw abortions, but left it up to states. As Moore himself points out, even some red states are still allowing abortions. Worst case scenario, go out of state for your abortion, a major inconvenience but not the end of the world given we now have over the counter birth control and cheap airlines. Even better, move to a blue state, a common practice nowadays. If our ancestors could walk across a continent, we can rent a u-haul.
3) Very clearly based on drop out rates, affirmative action (aside from its being wrong in principle to give bonus points based on skin color rather than circumstances) was putting blacks in schools they were unequipped for. Better to get into a state college on merit than to get into and then flunk out of Harvard because of skin color.
You've bought into their narrative of technicalities. They knew full well what the result of these decisions would be. 1) The definition of "creative" work will now be expanded to include virtually everything where there is a face-to-face interaction. How about home builders? If they are against gay sex for religious reasons, and the home being built is for gay couple, it is a creative craft, an equivalent of personal speech in support of said lifestyle, and they can refuse to build. How about the barista at the coffee shop? If they believe that double soy crappucino will be consumed by a gay customer and consequently, furthers their lifestyle/existence, boom , there's another "creative endeavor". The list can, and will, go on endlessly. Mark my words. They have opened a door & created an open question where there wasn't one before. Watch as "we don't serve LGBTQ" signs start to show up virtually everywhere these sick, hate filled individuals own businesses. Sure, these things can go to court for ultimate decisions, one by one, and in fact the homophobic business owners will likely lose, but this takes years--the damage is already done. 2) You should know better than to fall back on the "just go to another state" BS. What kind of health would you enjoy if you had to go 1000 miles to see a doctor for some important reason? Not to mention the cost of travel. For abortion to be truly legal it has to be available to all individuals within a reasonable distance of their locality.
