I bought the Hot Rats album when it first came out which tells you I am very old. Your version is not simply a cover. I have watched it 6 times and I think the choice of instruments and the pairing of images with the music is fucking amazing. I intend to watch it many more times. Zappa died when he was much younger than me but I feel sure he would have enjoyed your cover and agreed with me when I say “please make more.”

FZ was deep in the groove when he wrote the gumbo variations ,I was fortunate enough to see the Mothers perform it live on 3 nights with each nights performance being a different " variation " ,one of the best bass & drum grooves ever written .
I really like this. The extra 1/4 beat on the snare every 4th measure is a really nice, subtle touch. I'm pretty sure Frank would dig this. Keep it coming guys!!!

Needed a bit more Zappa aberration, in the harmonies and a few more polyrhythms, would have been perfect.
Franks music covered the world and this piece says it more then any version I can remember. It was so raw but balanced as he saw life.
