I think we, and the Burnley board, should all have realized that a tiki taka type game does not work if your team is much worse than the rest
I feel like the refs screwed them a few times this season and they could have stayed up otherwise
Completely agree UTC

hi youtube
U tube hello
You might want to water that plant in your background, mate. Great recap though!
I think “total distance” is much more telling than number correct. The guy who got first, Matthew, was off by 34 places because he got a bunch of teams off by 5. JLA was only off 40 places despite having just 2 correct because the basic thought was spot on.
I looked at my own predictions and I got 4 spot on, but that's really just luck because I saw the top 3 as cemented and I had Chelsea 6th which even now looking back I'm honestly surprised I got that. Getting the top 3 on the money was just a lucky guess honestly, I don't think it makes my prediction better than James's especially when his was so much more accurate and educated.
My "total score" was 52 which is really good for me, but I still had Villa 9th, United 4th and Burnley 12th (me and James are twinsies) and inexplicably Palace 16th.
Distance used to be the primary metric, I swapped it to total correct because it is simpler to understand across leagues and tournaments, however, I do agree distance shows a predictions general trend
In statistical metrics, you'd probably do the square of the distance. It makes sense when you think about it: Having a big number in there should drag your score down even more. It also balances out lucky breaks (close table positions), because if you're in the area, the +1 doesn't hurt as much as if you're way off.
@@DrZaius3141 I do like that, perhaps we can have 3 different types of scores haha, and the more stats the better really!
Can you do a video on how Julen lopetegui will set up West Ham and who they should sign
I always love this prediction reaction videos of yours every year 🔥
As a newcastle fan I agree with everything you said, add some depth, keep the books right for ffp, still compete at a decent level. I'll absolutely take it
Yeah, it was always going to be a different kind of pain, and it showed... That PSG game? That'll live for a Long time in the memory, especially when the 2 teams that knocked us out made it to the semis and Dortmund made the final.
Do you think you'll sell one of your stars? Also, when is Tonali back?
@craigbuckland6584 tonali is back first game of next season with some weird suspended ban (pretty much if he bets again gets another ban) and I'm a bit nervous about bruno G's release clause, other than that no I just think the dead weight with some market value is going, longstaff (pure profit) almiron to Saudi, Wilson then keep spending sensible like we have been I reckon
As a Palace fan I had predicted 14th too but what Glasner has done has been incredible.
Would love to chat to you about Palace before the upcoming season
17:45 “only Benteke has more goals” and the stats sheet on screen showed they both scored 19 goals in their best seasons for Villa
Benteke played 3 fewer games
Wait, does Jimbo have the best ball knowledge in the TH-cam game?
I think he just knows how to be unbiased which is rare in that field
I think he is one of the ones who watch and analyze most football
Mainly because he supports a team that isnt in the prem @@PaidTheCost88
Not bad but Fulham analysis is always lacking
In general, efl and lower fans have much more reasoned views on football than the prem fans. The problem is the top six but the rest of the prem gets swept up into all the reactionary talksport crap
Banger video and love that shirt. Double win for Jim, 3 cheers
Let me give you a hot scope here, I think the odds on Palace getting a young Swedish midfielder from Frankfurt is relatively low. I expect Glasner to go in for Hugo Larsson from his old team. The reasoning? It was his pick, he deemed the player crucial for the future of Eintracht. The new manager doesn't utilise the Swede at the same extent and hence I believe this to be a priority of Glasner for next season.
Actually saw United one coming. Never rated Onana since his Ajax days, It was him that gifted Spurs 2 goals.
Also United was riding on Rashfords PR of goals, without him they would of been mid table.
I got 44 points and 15% of the league positions right, I'm pretty happy with that!
There was a "second chance" at the predictions in Jan, I did it and I got 26 points and 40% of the positions right, much much better!
I know that nowadays fans really value the G/A per game or per 90. Which is fine from an individual player perspective / comparing to another. But if you try to flip the perspective to a coach / teams perspective I would argue that how many starts is also an important stat. You are reliable, the team (should) know your movements pretty good, and its up to the coach to change system, not because of injuries or suspensions. So would like to point out that (according to the stats) Watkins has made 37 STARTS(!) in the premier league, which is pretty insane. So yes, that my help his totalt G/A and damage his per 90. But dude, thats a really positive stat from a coach perspective.
If Newcastle didnt have an inury crisis, like, crisis crisis (along with the tonali issues) they would've easily finished higher. Yes injuries are part of the game but you can't predict that. So yes, the stick you got for that prediction is just as valid as it was 9 months ago.
15% for me but so many within 1
I had Forest and Luton switched in my prediction
the quality of managers currently in the prem, compared to 10 years ago, is incredible
I love Ollie Watkins and think he's class, but the other HUGE difference between him and those around him is that he's played 3,000+ minutes. None of the others are coming very close to that. So it's great that he's able to keep fit, but it does skew the stats as well.
xGP (expected growing pains) this video was through the roof Jim
Jimbo you beat me by 1 point! I measure success by the “distance” and got 41 points this year, my best ever! 🎉
Got MCI ARS CRY LUT SHU exactly right, getting some bold NEW & CHE calls pretty close.
MUN & TOT were my worst performers, but overall pretty happy with how it all went!
It’s funny people calling cities defence unreal, when, honestly most of this season they were actually really poor in defence. Their attack certainly carried them early on.
True, but end of the season defence held everyone out
I disagree with being really poor, but its definitely not a perfect defense though because we were playing cbs as left back but finally gvardiol for example stepped up to the role at the end of the season
“Poor”? Despite winning 6/7 premier league most Pl fans really underestimate man city players who aren’t kdb or haaland
They defend with the ball. They've played a bit more open this season so that inevitably has an effect on the defence. I think Akanji is there best defender when the games are more transitional
Absolutely coherent and brilliant review.... polished Presentation too.

I knew everton was a bad shout from you, had them in 12th before the points deduction.
can you do a how palace play under glasner like your how a club will set up under a new manager videos please
Composure is the key term for why Liverpool dropped into 3rd, the high volume of chances they created was consistent across the season, but when it came to it the finishing was atrocious, they massively underperformed their Xg in the last 10 games with Salah and Nunez the biggest culprits. Poor finishing was basically the only reason they didn't finish 2nd

I got 6 correct and 4 teams 1 position off. 96th.
Always enjoy these every year!
Despite it being a transition season, Spurs 6 points from a possible 21 to end the season and finish just outside the Champions League places was frustrating to watch.
Especially when Villa struggled as well
Think Kompany should have kept a lot more that Championship winning side together, despite him saying it lacked the quality to compete in the PL... So did the squad he built. If we'd have had that togetherness that was so clear to see last season, we'd have put up a better fight, even with "less quality". This squad didn't even bother turning up to meals together 🤣 so disjointed. Stinky season
Look at the players he had on loan, Harwood Bellis didn't buy for 20 million so City loaned to Southampton where he has been brilliant again, Tella returned to Southampton only to be sold to Bayer Leyerkusen and has a championship medal and probably a cup medal as well ,then Maaterson who will be lineing up in the ELC final for Borussia Dortumnd against RM ,so it's not holding on to players who got them up but finding their replacements where Burnley failed
@@barrieroberts75 bro Burnley spent slightly over 100 million euros last summer and ended up with a team worse than what they had in the championship. They did the exact same thing fullham did in 18/19 where they entirely rebuilt the squad before the season and then they just got relegated after a shit season
Burnley fan here - IMO the problems from this season have mainly been caused during last summers transfer window. We had a few loan players leave who weren't replaced (Maatsen/ Tella), we failed to replace key senior players (Cork/ Barnes), we signed tons of attacking mid type players despite having no space for them in the squad (Tresor/ Ramsey). Kompany decided to have a bit of a rebuild over the summer which was both unnecessary and poorly executed. He inadvertently has destroyed the culture of the club - there aren't enough leaders in the squad plus there are rumours of cliques forming and players being unhappy about how the squad is being managed. Many fans feel that Kompany has spent 90 mil and made the squad worse than it was before. Hugely damaging season that will take a lot of work to undo.
That is quite incredible just how much that sounds like 18/19 Fulham
You have to mention Chelsea's injuries if you mention them for United and Newcastle. No team has been ravaged by them like Chelsea.
To be fair I think it was pretty equal between the 3. But United broke the record for the most injuries in a Premier league season.
@@charlierhodes7271 Not all injuries are the same though. If a fringe playeer gets a new injury every week you can break the record, but it won't impact your season.
Totally agree. it was the same on managers performance. For Eddie Howe injuries were an excuse For Poch, no mention. according yo some websites, cfc had 54 injuries, utd 35. cfc top of the table.
I think there might be a few players there who enjoy not playing. I maybe wrong but I get that vide, especially the middle of the season.
You were right about Newcastle, Jim, but I don't think it was for exactly the right reasons (although largely, to give you your flowers). Ultimately, we were only 8 points off 4th, and the number of wins that turned into draws, and draws into losses, because of the leakiness of our backline - after last season, none of us could have seen that coming. And yes, that was down to injuries ultimately, but it was the freak occurrences that did us in, not the regular muscular or impact ones. Pope in particular, doing in his shoulder, was season-defining, and with him instead of Dubravka, we'd have been up there at the end of the season.
Yes.
I had some great predictions but also a couple howlers. I thought Wolves would finish 19th, Villa would finish 11th (I thought Emery would put everything into winning silverware, either a conference league or a domestic cup) and Man Utd 3rd. However, my overall score was very good in my opinion, getting 38. I even got six clubs spot on: Sheffield United, Luton, Forest, Bournemouth, Palace and West Ham. Despite this, I don’t feel like my actual predictions were any good, I think I just got lucky lol. Thanks for telling me about the new app Jim!
Edit: my rank was 533
13:17 “Newcastle finished 8th”???
I found my predictions, and I'm genuinely very happy with them except for two glaring errors - Bournemouth and Burnley. Got a distance of 38 in spite of those, but I'm more disappointed with the Bournemouth miss since I think everyone expected Burnley to do better.
The points system is broken on that app, you were 1/2 places off with almost every club. The guy who would have a few howlers in there it should be scored differently
Newcastle finished 7th not 8th

I think Arsenal have been the best team overall this season, everything went well. I don't see how they repeat it next year. They have been relatively lucky with injuries. Also their record against the big 6 is going to be hard to replicate.

The fact ppl thought Burnley would be this high is mad
Saying TAA was in the running for POTY before his injury is a massive stretch. Least amount of assists since his first professional season, by far as well. I think he was mediocre all around this season.
Yeah Trent was changing games by scoring and dominating the tempo of games and dictating in a quarter back roll before his injury
I think he was fine but no one was converting any of the chances he was giving them
That's bollocks, he was absolutely the best player in the league before his injury. He was unbelievable

On a tier list your predictions fit into "Something's happening here"
Got my first spot prediction right!
I think the biggest problem for Burnley was their cbs. You 100% need experience in that area as a promoted team. The young lad (Al something) was exposed so many times. But I don't think they are anything special and glad to see them go down. Dyche single handly turned them into a Prem side. And good call on Bournemouth... for some reason everyone thought they were going to finish under Burnley and get relegated.
Yeah you're right about CBs . . we failed to add a noticable upgrade to the backline over summer. It also doesnt help matters when Vinny throws an inexperienced GK into the deep end for no reason. Al Dakhil is the guy youre on about, he was only a squad player really tbf, definitely a decent player in there but it was asking a lot of him to perform at such a a high level in such a dysfunctional defence.
Spurs top 3 next year. calling it
Yes
At least the points deductions saved the season predictions for most TH-camrs 😂
Loads of people had Wolves to go down, never understood why, their squad was miles better than most of the bottom 6 teams.
Because Wolves were having financial problems since they splashed the cash in earlier years to stay up and now needed new players but no cash to splash, then there was disagreements with their manager and board, so yeah a dysfunctional season coming, not hard to predict they will struggle. Of Course the manager got dismissed right at the start and they brought in O'neil who did a fantastic job as expected.
Wolves acted smart and avoided a bad season by not waiting half a year to move on from the manager and changed it right at the start.
No hate but the side angle shots always feel weird and out of place.
Anyone else gutted De zerbi has left the premier league, he’s such a good manager. Hopefully someone gets him in

Nah, be nice to yourself here. We all were mesmerized by Kompany's company. I also had them higher up, 13th.
