Nice! As a Mizuno guy, I prefer the running bird design on the toe like 923 Forged. Black version looks so cool. The sole grinds are always solid and makes it clean through the turf. Feel is always top notch. Well done.
I collect irons especially Japanese boutique brands. I feel that throughout the years the smaller brands regardless of strong names such as Miura which I have 4 sets are losing it wider and wider to big brands with capital for real RnD with the newest tech out there. It's not only marketing but I can feel the differences get wider and wider until this year I may just succumb to selling most of them regardless of how pretty they are and just use irons like the new 925. There comes a point where tech is capable of satisfying both the art and performance aspects of golf and to me that's the breaking point.
Mizuno, Gabe deserved a complete set. Hmmm... If I buy these 3 clubs... Just kidding... Would have been nice to see the other clubs in action--Mizuno... Gabe, always a quality review with whatever you swing. Great range spotter! Thanks!
I love those sole grinds. I have been on a search to replace my favorite iron of all time which was the Mizuno MX-20. Those too had a great grind to the sole which allowed me to play on any turf condition. I was living in Japan at the time and their courses are WET! I also got to play in Hawaii and in Florida. Bermuda is not my friend. But I couldn't blame my clubs. 😂 Love the look of the black irons but I've found that all irons with that finish always feel harsher than the chrome model. You can almost tell you're hitting a Mizuno just by the sound.
Great video as always. I love watching your reviews. I tried Mizuno’s once I honestly didn’t like them weird but I didn’t but another awesome video thanks.
Nice review here. I will be testing these along w the new Pro s-3 next week. Wondering if these could be combo’d into the Pro lineup w perhaps just a 5 iron in the Forged? Have to check the numbers. My fitter tells me I’m going to love the Pro S-3 in terms of feel and turf interaction. I’d like to get a 5 iron however that offers a little bit more punch/firepower but I dont want to get into a chunky Hot Metal.
When your natural shot shape with a mid iron us a sweeping “draw” (some would say hook) I think it’s a stretch to ding the club because you couldn’t muster up a cut on demand.
They all seemed to cut. He didn't say slice or call out how many yards he was trying to cut it. I draw the ball and my cuts are usually straight or very small fades, if i don't double cross it.
@ well why did he not give it a 5/5 score then for workability? I was impressed that he could coax a baby cut out of them with his strong in to out swing path.
Greetings from Moncton New Brunswick I hate to correct you, however the kbs c taper light isn’t a graphite shaft. It’s actually a brushed steel. I have these shafts in my AI 200s.
A couple of things here; the C-taper lite is not graphite. It’sa steel shaft. Also the head is not 100% forged. Not knocking the irons. I’m sure they are good, but there are some details here that may need to be researched. Here is a clip from My Golf Spy: “For the 925 Forged, Mizuno uses new, multi-million-dollar forging machinery and a new process to make the face even thinner. Instead of forging the entire head, Mizuno now is single-billet forging the neck, face and topline and welding on a 431 stainless steel sole piece.” So it’s part forged and part SS. The face design is very similar to Callaway’s Cup Face Technology.
but the truth to the matter is that no one really cares about all of these details. They just want to know if the club works for them. If it is forgiving and feels good to them.
Great review... surprised that they weren't a little more workable.... That shaft is excellent... It's what I've played forever... Question.. can you please review the new Phantom GPS that has slope? I'd love to see how it compares to a rangefinder with slope
Curious. How is chipping/pitching different with super game improvement vs forged. Hot metal vs forged. Mizuno or other brands- keep up interesting videos😊
Everyone correcting you here in the comments, when they should be saying, you're swing looks great. Looks like your game has really improved, well done.
These look pretty awesome…As I get to my mid 50s and always played blades, I’m trying to find a club that isn’t too chunky but provides a bit more help getting it in the air and distance…I tried the HLs and they are way too chunky and way too much offset for me…Tried the 923 HMPs…still too chunky for me…hoping these fit the bill, though my Miura KM700s and Titleist T150s will be hard to dethrone in the bag(s)!
They look nice, especially the black. However, the black Vice VGI01 irons look even better. Thus the question, will you be testing Vice golf clubs this year? From other reports they are great clubs and both options are very forgiving irons.
As much as I love the JPX Forged lineup [I owned the JPX Forged 921], it seems to be in such a strange place in the line up with the JPX HMP on one end and Mizuno Pro 245 on the other. Sure you could call it a ‘tweener’ or a bridge set between the JPX and MP lines, but I think it’s unnecessary. I got fit for the 245 a year ago and find it delivers on feel, looks and performance- for basically the same price.
Are you sure about the numbers in the table at 1:50? They happen to be identical to those of the JPX 923 Forged. I've just seen another video on the 925 Forged, and the PW and GW lofts were given as 43 and 48 degrees respectively, with other slight differences, e.g. offsets.
@@LetsPlayThru Sorry to be pedantic - you know how stuck on details golf enthusiasts can be. I've just checked on Mizuno's official US website, and the numbers differ from those in your table, notably with 9, PW and GW at 38, 43 and 48 degrees. I am particularly interested because I have a set of JPX 923 Forged (4-GW).
That's very interesting for sure and I'm glad you brought it up. This is the spec sheet they provided me, so I will contact them and see what the story is.
Very nice looking iron. Neither a light or graphite shaft unfortunately for me judging by the review. My old JPX 919 forged had better lofts with the 7 iron at 32°. Give these to a beginner and you will immediately find great workability as they hit it left and right
Interesting. Mizuno usually offers a huge assortment of shafts. I’d guess you could get a light weight and/or graphite if you go thru a authorized source to purchase.
I'm just curious would they be comparable to the older Mizuno MP series? I have the MP 53 which is about 12 years old. I haven't played for 10 years and I'm curious because it seems like Mizuno don't make the MPS series any more and I'm just wondering how these co with those sorts of clubs. I know the lofts have changed a lot but I'm hoping that there's just a little bit more help in the JPX forged. I don't want to go to the JPX hot metal
The world needs a head to head of these, 925 HMP and the Maltby TS3.
TS3 is wicked good. Best cold weather player club I've ever played.
+1 on compare of these with TS3’s!
HNY Gabe. You have mastered club reviews. So fluid, informative and the ranking criteria is really tight now!!! Well done.

Take my money on the blacked out irons 💸
I currently play the Mizuno JPX 923 Forged and I absolutely love them
Keep up the great job on your videos 👏🎉

Happy New Year Gabe.. nice review!! I love that they included some graphite shafts!! Some of us mere mortals prefer graphite shafts
I was wrong I guess these are steel. They sure looked and played like graphite though. Happy New Year to you!

these are definitely a slimmer profile overall. But yes, I agree, those will be tough to replace, Pete.
It’s pronounced “chrome moly”. 😊 Great eval of the JPX 925’s!

Since when a C Taper lite is Graphite?
It’s not, it’s a step-less steel shaft with a brushed finish… dude doesn’t know what in the hell he’s talking about….
Had C-Tapers in my Adams Idea irons. They were brushed steel not graphite.
I misspoke, I'm going to correct the video. Thanks.
Does look like graphite but yeah it’s steel
To be fair to Gabe, I’ve had a lot of folks ask me about the C-taper lite shaft, thinking they were graphite. It’s not unusual.

Gabe, do you still say they are not for a high handicapper ?
I'd say these are more geared to the midhandicappers who are trying to get to a lower handicap. 15-10 range is the sweet spot, IMO
"Improved turf interaction" said every year for the last 20 years.
“chrome moly” is the correct pronunciation of chromoly.

I play the 923 forged right now. probably will not upgrade as the 923's are just fine.
Agree...stick with what you've got.
I use KBS and I don’t think that’s from their graphite line unless it’s brand new…their shafts are butter…
C Taper/Lite are steel.

Gabe,
Do you think the JPX 925 Forged is noticeably more forgiving than the Pro 245?
