Had a similar issue but I ended up cleaning the EGR, the egr cooler, intake manifold (also had oil in it) and replacing the pcv. Took me two cause I kept dropping parts in the engine bay as I was removing them 😅
You had oil in it. More reason to install an Oil Catch Can (OCC) between the PCV and Intake Manifold to empty the oil caught in each engine oil change cycle. That way they won't get clogged up again so easily. I will have to remove the OCC every time I go get the car smoged every 2 years here in the USA once I buy a CT200h.
Hi bro , i had this knocking and rattling issue cold start on my ct200h . Now l am going to do this cleaning egr pipe and entire manifold and valve . Thank you bro 😊
I sold the car now but I believe it was at the 120k kms mark the issue happened. The dealership told me Toyota Hybrids that sit for too long or don't have the EGR system serviced usually develop this issue. My car was sitting for a year and half at the dealership before I bought it.
I did not use a torque wrench to tighten those bolts down as it doesn't require much torque. I go by feel and feel comfortable with it but I can understand if you'd like to use a torque wrench. In all honesty, it's good practice but you need to invest in it.
@@techwithadilmcI’ve girly same issue one mechanic said head gasket gone one said engines gone I TH-cam’s the symptoms an have realised I put too much oil in so had it fully drained fresh oil n filter cleaned the full egr valve an manifold too I ordered a Pcd valvue wich could be the cause do you recommend flushing the exhaust out with sumat like jet wash n chemicals as it was smoking a lot an could have built soot up in the exhaust system any help would be appreciated please
@@IlyasKhan-wz8je I don't think cleaning the exhaust will do you much good. If multiple mechanics are saying the same thing, you might have a blown head gasket. If doing what I did has not fixed your problem, you may have to look into other potential issues.
Remove your spark plugs and use a mechanic's camera to see if the top of your piston is cleaner than normal or if you seem to be loosing coolant overtime. For me personally, I didn't see those symptoms and the dealership told me that replacing the intake manifold would fix the issue. I decided to just look into the issue and it seems by cleaning the intake manifold, I resolve the issue. But I'd likely have to do it after 100k kms every time. Hope that helps.
@@techwithadilmc I have a friend with a 2013 Lexus CT200h and she’s having a shaking at times and the mechanic told her she needs a head gasket for $4500, but she’s not losing coolant, just burning oil... it’s around 100k miles.
@@tylertran93nsx That gen CT from my previous research had oil burning issues. I am unsure if the head gasket can cause this but I suspect it could be piston rings? I would go to a different mechanic and get a second opinion. I hope that helps.
Damn I did this 3400km ago and just learned about the pcv valve looks like I gotta buy one and tear everything out again lol that’s okay though it was pretty easy the first time
Yea thankfully it's not a hard job at all. The PCV valve is more of a might as well change it since it's open type of deal. Haven't heard of it going bad too often but I could be wrong. Hope it goes well.

Glad it worked out though. Kind of an annoying issue but not hard at all to do ourselves. I dropped stuff in the bay too, just skipped those parts. 😂

I hope it works for you! I'm glad this is all I had to do and thank you for taking the time to comment.

Appreciate the support! They are rep Audi rims 😁
I love your lexus videos !
Thank you for your support. I really appreciate it!
Almost a year and however many miles later, have you experienced the coolant intrusion/head gasket issue?

We’re you using a torque wrench for re assembling the intake and EGR or was that just a straight ratchet?

Hii Bro… did appear any warning light before you got the issue? Please reply
I did not have warning lights but the car had super rough startups and also misfired and sounded like some serious knock.
@@techwithadilmc thank you

Wonderful performance
💯💯💯
Your video is informative & useful but loud background music was obstructive to listen to the instructions.
Thank you for the suggestion. That actually helps to know. I'll see if I can fix it.

Great video
Thanks for your support!
Some mechanic said it’s a head gasket problem… how can you tell the difference?
