Some tips for applying two part epoxies: -stripe coat rivets first. -never use a mixing paddle. It introduces air bubbles that pop and leave holidays. Mixing stick is always the best. Glad it worked, I’ve got a gallon on the way.
Update: I applied it. Someone in a thread somewhere mentioned a window cleaning squeegee with the rubber strip. Use that 100%. One way spreads and the other way pulls. Stripe coat every rib first and each rivet, on my 16’ boat it took .5 quart. Then pour even strips onto the hull, 1.5” in width. Use the window squeegee and work it towards the bow in a smooth direction. Make sure you have an unobstructed walkway. Rinse repeat. I used like a coat and a half with the super slick. It isn’t going to be perfectly even, that’s ok. If you use as directed, wear and tear will do the sanding for you. I also used the entire gallon. It set up fine… it is a 16’x52”. Can’t imagine this stuff coming off granted i sanded all the paint to bare metal, acid etched, scotch brite pad, rinse with pressure washer (absolutely essential to get the oxidation residue off), towel dry, acetone clean.
If they are loose they will leak, made a solid rivet gun out of an air hammer and 3/4” bolt as a backing plate to butt them up against. They are 1/2” 3/16 brazier head rivets. Use 1/4 (thickness) if your holes are worn out. I got 3/4” 3/16 and cut to size so I could do the transom brackets too.
@@allbotellooutdoors6502 I just bought my first jon boat 2 weeks ago. It's used and I need ask the advice and help I can get. I'm a total newbie at this, with no fixit-up skills at all. LOL
I totally understand! There’s so much on TH-cam about old boats you shouldn’t have a issue restoring your boat . I Jon boat will last forever .. mines is probably 50 yrs old lol
How many quarts did you use for the fasco I have a similar size boat and with a few small holes and filled them and want to paint over it with either fasco or gator glide
@@allbotellooutdoors6502 dang really? Every video I have watch people barely cover a smaller boat then that. Maybe the super slick goes farther the the normal steel flex 2000. I can't find the super slick anywhere at the moment
It’s crazy slick... you even notice it on the water... less friction.. one thing I have noticed is it does wear off a little on the keels of my Jon boat probably where I drag it a lot. I would probably have put a double coat if it tried it again. Thanks for the view 👊🏽

Lastly, I used 5200 for the seam.
3M Marine 5200 is insane permanent caulking too. I use it on through hull bolts and rivets and it does not leak! probably why it’s 20$ a tube🤙🏻
Good information to know thank you
We been using Steel Fless for over 35 years, good stuff.
Works great!
You want to add the pigment to part 2 before mixing part 1 and 2.. I'm about to do a 1542 jon, hoping 3 quarts will be enough.

Very very good video to watch thanks
Appreciate it ! Thanks for the view!
"I don't know if I'm just wasting money" .. think we all said that hundreds of times on repairing boat leaks.. haha.. nice vid

@@allbotellooutdoors6502 😮WOW!
Good job! Something for me to remember should I need a similar repair. You can now take the savings and apply those to replacing your big boat!! :-)
I sure want a new boat... but I’m gonna wait patiently for the right time and the right one...
@@allbotellooutdoors6502 I've heard you mention wanting a new one but the prices are crazy right now.
They sure are.. been looking nitro z18 and I also like the skeeter zx190.. I like both of them.
Great video! Thank you!
Appreciate it ! Thanks for the view 👍🏽
When doing 2 coats. Would you recommend separate days or 10-15 minutes between costs?
Probably would do it soon after. As soon as it dries
Thank ya!
Paint it green brother looks good
Thanks I might lol !!

Just used the one quart.

@@allbotellooutdoors6502 one more question what type/brand of roller did you use.
Believe it was a small sponge roller . That’s all I had lol. Worked fine!
Is the silicon you used, PAINTABLE ??? Thanks !
Guess you could try to paint it but I’m not sure to be honest.
Good job but derictons say to mix the pigment into part 2 first
How is it holding up?
Holding up well !
Glad to hear that because I ordered the steel flex and the Slick 2000
I’m going to put the steal flex on first and then put the Slick 2000
Way to go!
Thanks cuz!!
About how much did you use
Ended up using all of it .. wish I could’ve done 2 coats
As for the top color I would go ford blue
Heck yeah!!
O.K. Thanks !!
Did you end up having any leaks ? Or is it holding strong?
Holding good .. had to redo one rivit I missed.. I think 2 coats works best . I only did one.
@@allbotellooutdoors6502 do you use yours in salt or fresh? Redoing an aluminum boat and this seems like the way to go for the bottom.
Fresh water is what I use mine for.. mine boat so old lol probably 50 yrs or more ... but that product works !
Really makes your boat glide across the water too. Less friction!
I need to do my Jon boat
Let’s do it ! Bring it here when you get back … go ahead and order your stuff and we can knock it out cuz !
How slick is the final finish?

Give us an update
Ok I’ll try and put a short video up !
Where is the drain ho
Boat didn’t come with one .
