  • this is a very easy method and the same method that JLR use, I did this video to show this method as no other videos showed this,
If I can do this anyone can, don't pay dealer prices his whole job cost me around £70 and does not take very long

They are nice cars but they are a nightmare with dpf issues etc. If I was going to buy another one I'd go for the petrol supercharged one ,, 🥰

I'm a great DIYer but I've always put the car into a garage for the oil and filter change to get the service book stamped for evidence of a service. I could see the filter on my 2003 Jaguar XJ and check the dip stick to confirm that the work was actually done. I was checking on TH-cam where the filter was on my current XF 3D and your video was top hit. I learned everything I needed to know and as my car is a 2010 model, a fully stamped service record at 48,000 miles will not add a jot to the value of the car when I sell at 14 years old so I'll just do it myself. I am staggered by your achievement! My next hurdle will be should I change the timing belt at 60,000 or whenever.

Hi Neil I am pleased I have inspired you to change your own oil and filter, if you keep the parts receipts and write the date and mileage of the change on that's as good as a Garage stamp for me, and in all honesty owners often take more care and do the job more thoroughly than a Garage, you get a great sense of achievement and know its been done right doing it yourself, plus you save alot of money, this is a very easy oil change compared to some I have done, the reason I do stuff myself is because I once scratched a filter to see if it was changed but the garage just wiped the filter to make it look new so I've never trusted that garage since, I'm sure many others do the same sadly, so yes do it mate and let me know how you get on I'm sure it won't affect the value at all as the buyer will see an enthusiastic owner who had lovingly cares for his car, thanks for watching

@@Amazingfeet Hi, Just completed the most satisfying and money saving oil change ever! I bought 10 litres of the Smith and Allan oil at about £46 delivered, £8.60 for the filter at Halfords and the 32mm socket. I already had a pump that could be driven by an electric drill. With the engine warm having returned home, removed the oil filler cap, pulled off the engine cover, fully unscrewed the oil filter and left it lose in place so that all the oil returns to the sump, pumped the hot oil out through the tube, removed and fitted the new filter and new lubricated O ring, added the oil, checked the "live" oil level. Job done and not an oil drip on the driveway! I just have to take the old oil to the council recycling centre. I'll only need to buy 5 litres of oil next time so my next service will cost only £32 and I'll know that the job has actually been done. I changed oil and filters myself in my early car owning days when there was less emphasis on "full dealer service records" and I had old cars.
      Thanks again.

Thank you for this guide. Very helpful. I didn't realise it was so easy. I've also ordered 20L of the Momentum C1. Smith and Allan seem to blend a serious range of industrial oils as well so industry trusts them which is good enough for me.

Thank you very much for the video, it is very useful to me, now I will dare to do the oil change by myself. I see my jaguar has the same engine as yours. I wanted to share my experience, at 75,000 miles a coolant hose Connector broke, which meant a large loss of coolant. It's a piece of plastic that distributes the coolant and it broke at the joint. I did not know that it was necessary to change it after a certain mileage. I was reading that it is a fault of that car model. Unfortunately it is a failure that leaves the car thrown and you have to call a tow truck. It is to be expected that in the most modern models this type of failure does not exist.

@amazingfeet. I searched for this video because I have this job to do tomorrow. I'm very grateful for you sharing the video, it helps. BUT, I'm impressed by, and will remember this video for a completely different reason. I am absolutely blown away by the way the fact that you are doing this work with your feet. Good for you mate! I moan about my (comparatively insignificant) health issues, but you've put me to shame. TOP MAN!!!! #Inspired #moved

Glad it was useful, i ended up putting another 450ml in to reach half way between min and max, its best to be under the full mark in case the dpf regen dumps fuel in the oil, if it goes over full it can cause many issues which could be catastrophic! Less is more!

Thanks for uploading this. I’m changing my oil this week and this video will help me. Had some idea of how to do it but you’ve made it clear.
Do you know how to complete the “Sowing machine” fix for this car too?? It’s the earth strap that’s connected to the fuel injector. Apparently you change it for a flexible one and it fixes the annoying rattle the engine gives off under acceleration. I want to do it but can’t locate it? Jaguar issued a service a technical bulletin about it. I can send you the info if you like?
Thanks again, keep up the amazing work. Jules

look up oil extraction pump on ebay, mine is a marine one which was expensive but you can get decent ones for around 50 pounds, the 9litre ones or 12volt ones are good,
