Exterior access pockets that don't use interior space will change the profile of the pack. For my purposes, I'm seeing this amp 24 design as a pro, not a con. And 32L is 32L. If the pack is still 32L but the exterior access pockets don't utilize interior space, the main compartment is smaller. I like the versatile design of this one.

But I realize we each have different preferences and utilized the backpack differently. So I agree to disagree with your assertion. Overall the 511 AMP is a well constructed pack.
