I'm just disappointed there don't seem to be many anime musicals in general.
Sure an insert song here and there is nice , but why can't there be scenes where characters burst into song like Disney. (Or even shows like Steven Universe , MLP , Simpsons and Family Guy sometimes do )
So much untapped potential. I'm sure it's for budget reasons or something like that.
Just imagine anime characters singing during their fight scenes , instead of an insert song playing in the background. I would love to see that.

were they supposed to suck? (sorry, i didn't read the graphic novel) i thought they were great in the movie.. i found out that (i think)beck helped with the music for them and it made perfect sense. the style they have is like, not the best skill at playing but their energy and style make them special. that's why his sister and roommate seemed to have a sincere respect for them when they started playing Garbage Truck. those two seem like they wouldn't be above booing their best friend/brother if he sucked lol

Kim may be a cynic but I think Scott's partially responsible for that. She even moved to Toronto to be in his band after he dumped her. Ramona is a bitch anyway, I even liked Envy more than her, at least she had some personality and was a talented musician. Ramona's just a hipster that has every guy after her for some reason lol xD
I like that Kim seems to be able to control wind, Scott can control lightning, and Stephen controls the band.
Stephen is the talent after all.
He provides the guidance of the power, he is also the lead guitarist and singer so it makes sense

They could have easily made this into two, even three movies.

HOLY SHIT, THERE'S A HOLE IN THE GODDAMN MOON (0:56). I have lost count of the number of times I've watched this movie, and that is the first time I've noticed that.
This is one of many reasons why Edgar Wright is my favourite director: the amount of tiny little details - stuff that other directors might think is unnecessary or wasted money from the budget - he scatters throughout the films he makes give them huge rewatchability value. No matter how many times you see these films, you're always gonna notice something new.

The actors for the twins actually don't know how to speak English very well, that's why they were silent
It's because IRL the actors are really twin brothers who are Japanese.
Also, in the comic dealing with the Katayanagi twins takes up half of volume 5 and involves multiple robot battles. It would have added another half hour to the film at least.
You would not believe how much Nega-Scott was in the original comic, compared to his single joke in the film.

This music battle is just awesome, especially that part when their summons do battle and how well they play their music manipulates how well the summon does. My only downside to it is that it's too short, this is my ultimate nerd fantasy and it's only 3 minutes and 27 seconds long, I wish it was longer :(

My one regret is that I missed the chance to see this at the cinema. One of my favourite films.
I feel the same way. My local cinema only had it for like two weeks before it got pulled.
I initially passed on it because I thought it was just another dumb Michael Cera thing, but my friends said the movie was great. And when I went to see it that weekend, it was no longer showing.
I read somewhere online that the reason the twins don't talk in the movie is because the actors can't speak english.
They didn't even touch much in the game or comics if i remember correctly.
They actually had dialogue in the comics atleast lol

When Scott triggers the effects pedal is one of the greatest things I've ever seen in a movie.
this is the coolest fucking concept for a fight ever and the fact that ive only ever seen it in a 3 minute fight scene in a movie that bombed is an absolute crime. there needs to be a whole show with bands fighting with avatars made by their music

As a movie fanatic, I love the detail in this film so much, the reference to Flash Gordon with Gideon's ring making the same sound as that of Ming The Merciless. The twins also turn the dial to the Japanese character for 11 which is not only a reference to This Is Spinal Tap but references the fact that they're twins as 11 is a twin number
Also also they are Evil Ex's number 5 and 6 and if you add them together the result is 11

I like the different vibes each of the members exude. Scott is filled with raw energy/rage, Stephen starts nervous but becomes more confident, Kim is straight up determined throughout (and is probably my fav bc she looks pretty badass), even Young Neil is just grooving the entire time with his hair flowing free

First of all, Scott’s footwork is unmatched. And secondly, I didn’t notice it before but the battle is like electricity vs dust. The synth and keys sounds are like sand or dust and Sex Bob-Omb’s sounds are like pure electricity ⚡️ (due to the amps)
Take another look at the creatures. The dragons are sand and the gorilla is electricity. I watched this movie an hour ago, never understood the hype before, and now I’m obsessed!!
The gorilla also has green eyes. It is the metaphorical green eyed monster known as Jealousy

Slug of Borg Actually, dual Dragon/Flying types are weak to Ice, Dragon, Rock, and Fairy; receiving neutral damage from the four classic starter types (Fire, Water, Grass, Electric).
What the Yeti used would have to be something like Ice Punch to be super effective.

I adore the sound design of this movie. All the small extra sounds and compression of cheap equipment that is played at full throttle, feedback sounds, the mixing of those sounds with the sound effects of the monsters and in contrast the deadly, ultra clean sound the twins produce (it's not even music, it's just sound)... LEGENDARY!

Probably the most underrated movie ever, amazing cast, good plot, amazing songs.
What is perhaps my favorite fight scene of all the films I have watched is in this one when Scott fights the Katayanagi Twins. I actually jumped up out of my seat in excitement right after Scott stomped on the pedal and said audibly “hell yeah”. And I not the type who is normally that animated watching films.
