Fun fact: "I'm so sad, so very very sad" had 4 writers.
Omg that's the reason behind that beautiful lyrical work
Only 4?
Really, I thought it was 8 :/
Wait r u cereal tho
I mean, it's a pretty complex song
I literally cannot understand how this film failed in the box office, it’s probably the best movie I’ve ever seen.
Bad trailer, I'll admit I thought it was gonna be stupid and it came out at a time when popular TH-cam culture influencing reviewers didn't have the fanbase they have now. I rented this from a block buster and I bought the next day from best buy
Ah....hello brother...
the trailer makes it seem like more of a RomCom than it actually is and is admittedly very bad. Whoever cut the trailer should never work in hollywood. This on my top 5 movies of all time.
@@ericsmith116 I remember watching some other movie 1 or 2 months before the release of Scott Pilgrim and yeah I remember thinking it was gonna be some weird love triangle, wanna be edgy hipster stuff but it was actually genuine and perfect for the time it came out. The trailer was just all kinds of bad
It was amazing. Everything in it--the cinematography, editing, effects, music...the life as RPG/video game thing...and it all told, under all the humor and delightful craziness, a bittersweet tale of growing up (though the comics, of course, had the space to expand way more on that self-realization part...) I loved it, I still watch about once a year.
My only thing is that Michael Cera just doesn't move or look like a fighter. He's fine in the other scenes, even quite good in a few, but it removed me from the immersion when he had to brawl. Scott was, after all, the best fighter in the province and considerably cockier than Michael Cera-Scott, IMO. I think another actor (Jesse Eisenberg always sprang to mind) would have been better for it, but hey, one man's opinion.
Bryan Lee O'Malley's amazing creativity inspired me to take a lot of chances, actually, in the kind of creative stuff I do. His view of mixing video games/RPGs with graphic novels to tell such a human story was genuinely original.
I saw a couple of other people say this but apparently when Scott "kills" an evil ex they just respawn back in their home and are like "I don't wanna be evil anymore"

Michael Cera? I thought it was Jesse Eisenberg :)
This movie has a message in that sense, since Cera is just a normal guy, and it's fighting against an abusive past relationship and the rivals are most of them archetipes of toxic masculinity.
@@umbium But also he's an archetype of toxic masculinity, too.
Don't let this video distract you from the fact that Scott Pilgrim beat up/tricked Superman, Captain America, and then dated Captain Marvel.
And he's currently fating huntress
And also got helped by The Punisher (Vegan Police)
Back when Captain marvel was hot

i think this movie should be re-release in theaters. I feel today's generation would dig this more than our time.
Really? It wasn't made for them. There are subtle setting details that don't make sense unless you lived in the early 2000s.

I mean Scott is a skinny, lanky boy that keeps matching giant buff dudes blow for blow so they’re probably used to it lmao
Well Scott was a professional fighter and only he knew in the movie but in the original comic he didn’t have any idea either
Magical realism
It's also pretty funny because that stuff gets dropped at random especially in the comics. Like the subspace stuff, or the fact that Scott Pilgrim is the best fighter in the whole county.
"Is that girl a boy too??"
"It's not a race guys!"
"Sweet! Love this one!"
Love Wallace
The best character in the movie, imo. Don't know about the comics.
This scene made me laugh the hardest
He's the best
In Spanish they say "and the little girl pees standing too?" Instead of Is that girl a boy too? XD
"Kick her in the balls!"
One cool detail I never noticed until now: Before Scott's last battle, Sex Bob-omb has a noisy, garage rock quality to their music. But after they sign with Gideon, their music has much higher-fidelity production, because they have a higher budget. This movie really did music perfectly.
Also the important detail that Scott is no longer in the band lol
The bass in this movie.... it all slaps. Every single one.
I know this because of D D D D D...
In bass battle, Scott isn't playing a D note, but a B note... as much as that frustrated me I'm too in love with the movie to be upset about that mistake

I believe he was doing the B note himself (micheal cera) but the editing of the notes kept saying D

This movie was so ahead of its time. If this came out today there is no way this would flop. Although it is nice this film has gathered a following since release.
I don’t think it would be as good if it came out today, I think despite it being so ahead of it’s time, in a weird way it’s also a product of it’s time. This movie was made with passion and a main goal to make sure not to disappoint the fans, now more than ever movies are literally just made for money
Some could say it's "Streets ahead".
This movie had one of the best ever editing and soundtrack. But ultimately, this movie is not good. The characters were bland and the movie failed at making us care for them. As interesting as the premise might have been, the movie completely made you lose interest. They had all the tools to make this movie perfect, yet, it sucked.
Genuinely one of the worst films I've ever seen. The characters are all so whiney and annoying and make snarky comments trying to be funny and it's so draining. Scott is a shitty awful man child and I hate him so much

The creators said that Micheal Cera was one of the only few who actually knew how to play the guitar. He explained that sometimes he would have Micheal dumb it down when he was playing in order for everyone to look like they know what they were doing.
Yeah considering everyone else for sexbob-omb had to learn their instruments from scratch, and in the case of Mark also had to perform vocally for the first time in public, having Michael already comfortable with bass was a blessing and a curse I imagine. Nice in the way he could probably help Johnny and Mark with tips, possibly was rough for them though as it can be disheartening to pick up and instrument when those around you already have a confident facility with theirs. They all did a fantastic job though, performing as a cohesive band that at least appears to be in the same realm skill wise. Thought it would be really funny to imagine Scott just shredding a bass solo out of nowhere, while the others just stare at him.

I like how scotts bass gets wrecked in the bass battle and has been taped together in the later scenes
I don't think I realized until seeing all the music put together like this that the song Sex Bob-Omb plays at the end when Scott is fighting is the same song that they play right at the beginning.
Brie Larson looking like Misa Amane from Death Note in this movie
Omg ur right
Facts
And this style looks way better than Envy form the comics.
Tsk tsk, she was based on Emily Haines, lead singer and keyboardist of the Canadian band Metric.
You're right
This movie taught me the value of self respect.
Guts + 5
Heart + 6
Smarts + 7
Balls + 8
Alexander Song deserved the right for having the sword of self respect!
Having 8+ balls must be a nightmare to walk around with
@@the_maskjs are you sure having 10 balls is a good thing
Alexander earned the power of self respect!
4:50 this part always cracks me up
My favorite songs in this movie.
1. All of them
2. All of them
3. All of them
4. All of them
Time for a re-watch
I've seen this movie over a thousand times at this point because it's so damn good
A re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-watch you mean?
@@carpenter.recordings Damn right
Time to re-read
Give us back Scott Pilgrim vs the World: The Game, you cowards
daniel the game wasn't even official but it was fun
That game was so Awesome, and they were so many reference to the comics!!!!!
pick it up at gamestop or somewhere
@@ohnomygod3875
The movie? The game is unavailable.
@@ThatOldSchoolMagic um no i got the xbox live download code at gamestop
This movie blew my mind in theaters, I saw it twice there.
I can watch this movie over and over and over and over and over and over and over again… it never gets old. One of the all time greats.
If this movie was released in 2019 with internet, social media and stuff i think it was not fail at the box office
Hell if it just came out 3 or 4 years later, it would've been huge. Way ahead of its time
I love this movie, I watched this thousand of times.
Миша Максимов hell! if they re-released it, it would do super well
Do....do you think there was no internet and social media in 2010? Because that's hilarious.
@@Aldaris1234567 nah, it just was not like this
"This song is called 'I'm sad, so very very sad." - best song I've ever heard.
There's a Napalm Death song that is nearly as long.
SOOO SAD
I remember when I showed this movie to my brother for the first time. When patel broke into song him and Stacy said "what??" at the same time. It was hilarious.
I forgot how visually satisfying this movie is
It's like Universal is reminding us that the Scott Pilgrim game isn't in digital stores anymore.
Sometimes i feel like the game never existed. It feels like a fever dream most days and then i am reminded it did exist but is now in licensing hell for all of eternity . Need a real petition to try and get it back for sure
Pissed
wait why did they remove it?
@@Regent192 legal and copyright issues
@@welshizz man that sucks, I watched the movie last month and wanted to play the game after that
'You know?'
'OH YEEEEAH
'Oh no.'
Very clever, Mr Wright.
7:56 Kimberly wasn't playing wit yall 😘🥁
I hereby give the The Oscar for best editing to Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
If Brie Larson were my ex-girlfriend, I'd have a hard time moving on too.
Same
what about if ex#3 literally hit you so hard, he can knock the colour out your eyes like highlights in the hair.
hahaha.
I wouldn't. She just doesn't do it for me. I'd take Anna Kendrick over Brie any day
I don't think she's particularly lost her looks or anything, but all those weird ass outfits, hairdos and makeup feminists tend to wear nowadays it's the stark opposite of flattering..
Pair that with the whole skewed belief system thing and you've really got a recipe for abstinence.
TookALevelInBadass no...no I'm not.
Probably the most criminally under-rated film ive ever seen! Such a great movie!
Ditto on Dress is up there too now I'm thinking if an Edgar directed dredd
How is it underrated. It’s so many peoples favorite movie.
Nooo how did they know I needed this ? 🥺💖
I smile each time I watch it. Such an awesome 90th rock vibe. Love this movie!
Brie Larsons rendition of Black Sheep made me question my sexuality.
I'd been questioning my sexuality way before that, but as soon as I saw and heared that scene I knew I was a Phat Gay
Why question it when it feels right?
It confirmed mine
She’s like a real life Wallace
i thought she made a fine Captain Marvel in the MCU
I'd be Young Neil... singing along off stage but getting the lyrics wrong
Everytime I listen to Garbage Truck and it doesnt have Young Neil I say it anyways
This movie very accurately depicted the feelings and sensation of hearing great music and how it makes you feel.
Jesus... sometimes I wonder how we don't end up with movies of this calibre nowadays. Not a single one comes to my mind. The cinematography was spot on.
The level of detail in every frame, every song and every line of dialogue. Absolute 10/10 KINO.
Except for the fact that the Clash At Demonhead doesen't have a guitarist when there's a guitar playing in the song
@@jazzwell Wait, they do. Tod is playing Bass guitar.
@@FuvuK Yeah he's playing the bass, not the guitar
Found the Edgar Wright circlejerk. Lol
@@kevonicus Edgar Wright is definitely my favorite director because he's got so much style, but people act like he's perfect when he's really not. He's human and not every single frame of every single movie he makes is a masterpiece.
"Is that girl a boy too?"
"It's not a race guys!"
"Sweet! Love this one!"
Oh my god
Wallace is just walking quotes in this movie 😂 every line he says is gold
Ahead of his time
Truly a man ahead of his time.
You should hear his one-liners in Succession

This ... movie ... is ... amazing. I just saw it in one of those special Dolby studio theaters. Reclining seats. Luxury. Loved every moment of it.
I don't know why but Young Neil singing the wrong lyrics at 04:38 gets me everytime
Me too i can relate to that all the time
He is us, we are he and we are all together?
@@comkver See how we run like pigs from a gun, see how we run
Hey Man, we calk him just "Neil" now
You can hear him mess up. Instead of singing the words "oh my” he accidentally sings “oh no” and then corrects himself
"Looks like someone wants to get... *_Funky_* "
great line

Me, starting to listen Jamiroquai every fucking time
Such a visually pleasing film. Great tunes too
Edgar Wright is one ofnrhe best directors alive, his ability to use sound or music to his advantage when shooting a frame like he did in this movie and baby driver make them so enticing to watch although Scott pilgrim is a million times better, it makes me sad that this movie is so underrated becuse it deserves full credit. I'd watch a sequel if Edgar was directing
Yeah it still blows my mind that Baby Driver made more money than all of his other movies combined. Just bonkers... like Baby Driver is a damn good film, but it's nowhere near Wright's best work. I would easily say that Scott Pilgrim and all three Cornettos are better movies than Baby Driver.
