10 of them (201-205 and 210-214) were put into storage and I've heard they're being stripped for parts for the operational 201's so it's unlikely they'll come back into service. They were only 15 years old and all 18 of the 071's are still running at 45 years old. 230 is also in storage after been destroyed by fire. And 225 was in storage for nine years after it hit a tractor on a level crossing and killed a farmer.
Yup on the south bound line (and ye have to be mega quick to spot them), there are 2 vertical white poles, next to the embankment. That is the actual cross over point (for PWD maintenance people from both T-NIR and from IE). Tho in practice both rail cos work closely together, doing maintenance on the overall line between Newry (NI) and Dundalk (Rep). Fortunately now, post GFA etc the then on going Kilnasaggart Bridge problem (it is just inside NI) is just history. That was a regular " bomb on the line" issue, causing frequent bustitution. On this video the posts appear on the right at 3: 53..just before the 70 speed sign..
It's a similar situation when crossing the border by road. Aside from different road signs, road markings and units for speed limits, you really wouldn't know you were crossing a border. It's like they said on Coast: "Despite having different capitals, different laws and different currencies, the border between North and South has vanished altogether. The first sign that you're in the North is the one in Miles Per Hour,"
